Talk about professionalism and taking pride in one's work! Mike was absolutely phenomenal the whole way through the process. We were referred to him through Frank's Door Store having ordered a custom wood door from them, and since our old fashioned house required his very custom touch we called him. Frank's made the door, we had it painted and purchased the lock hardware, but he did everything else, and even talked to Frank's (cutting out the clueless middle man, yours truly) to ensure the professionals could together get us the right product. Mike came to give an estimate and was full of information, some of it even related to other parts of the house. He guided us through everything we wanted done, and we were always aware of our options. He was also very patient in that it took months to get from that initial conversation to getting the actual door ready to be installed. I honestly can't think of any time I've seen someone enjoy their work so much. He even discovered a couple of problems along the way due to the age of our house that were unexpected, but he seemed to present them as fun challenges rather than a drag (and was successful on all counts). I couldn't recommend West Coast Weather Stripping enough to anyone who needs this kind of unique work done.

The work went great. After receiving the estimate and deciding to move forward, we waited about 2 weeks for the new fiberglass door to be ordered. Mike called me immediately after the new door was in to schedule the install the same week. The work itself was quick and very well done. Even though our older door had a larger frame than what's used by newer doors, he was able to make it all work, reuse our existing trim, and make everything look great. The new weatherstripping is definitely solid with no signs of cold air coming through at all. The install took less than 4 hours.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Mike came out to give me an estimate and talked me through all the options and details. He was very knowledgeable, thorough, and communicated everything clearly. I also followed up with questions in email and he was responsive and gave me helpful advice. We have an old (1914) house with lots of interior trim and lath and plaster around the entry, so using a pre-hung door wasn't a good option. We considered using a and quot;matchupand quot; service (used by other installers), where the door fabricator sizes the slab and bores for hinges and hardware offsite based on the existing (old) door, but it's tricky because you never know exactly how it will fit until you're ready to hang it. Mike offers an alternative to this, where he custom fits the door onsite. It costs more, but I think the final result is better. He also specializes in high-end interlocking weatherstripping, but we ultimately decided on a mid-range alternative that suited our needs and budget.

After accepting the bid and agreeing on a date for the work, I ended up having to reschedule on short notice, and Mike was absolutely gracious and understanding about it, which was much appreciated. He came back a few weeks later for the install, arrived right on time and got to work. The door was purchased in advance from Frank Lumber to the rough opening size, and we finished it ourselves. We also purchased the hardware ahead of time. Mike trimmed and customized the door and threshold to fit the opening exactly, and patched the existing jamb to accommodate the new strikeplates. He also installed the hinges and latch hardware onsite.

The work itself went quickly, but wasn't rushed in any way. He's just been doing this a long time and is very efficient and organized. He took the time to seal off the entryway while he worked since the weather was cold, and cleaned everything up when he was done. The end result is perfect and looks and feels like it was always there. We're thrilled with how it turned out, and highly recommend Mike Holeman and West Coast Weather Stripping to others.
