NEILSEN BROTHERS FLOORING

I will give them an A on quality because I don't remember any issues.  We had some scheduling issues because they didn't get back to me.  I needed to delay the project because I couldn't make it up to my mother's house and the technician didn't get my message so he ended up waiting for me when I wasn't going to be there.  I am not sure if I would use them again; I would consider it.

We have a 30 year old house with a kitchen that reflects the 1970's look, we have wanted to put in a new floor for some time. This is the second time we have used this company on a flooring project, we went back to them based on our good experience the first time. The sales man, Dave, were knowledgable and friendly; the price was right and reasonable. They gave us a discount for being a second time customer. The installer, Carey,  was meticulous to a fault; for a job that should have taken about 6 hours took, the actual installation took closer to 9 hours. He left at 9:30 p.m. but the job he did was immaculate and beautiful. We have a small kitchen but we used large vinyl tiles. He performed this installation perfectly. He also took base boards that had been hidden behind our refrigerator and closed door pantry and he installed those base boards around the perimeter of our kitchen floor because he thought that would give the kitchen a more finished look and he was right. It was a wise, decorative move that was beyond the call of duty and there was no additional charge for that service.

Irene of Neilsen Brothers Ballard store was friendly. She helped me pick out suitable padding, carpet, and vinyl, then showed up on time to take measurements. The vinyl installation went fine and I was happy with the results. The carpet was another matter. The installers severed an alarm system wire; splintered a door; broke a melamine edging strip; left black handprints and smudges throughout the freshly painted interior; spread around dirt and dust from old carpet; left scraps, fiber, and fluff on new carpet; almost installed wrong padding in basement; ran out of carpet (delaying completion by an additional week); didn t do a very clean install in several places. I also strongly suspect I got a lower grade of carpet than I thought I was ordering. When I politely raised some of these issues with Joe at the Ballard Store, I got the most sarcastic, defensive, hostile reception I have ever had from a business person.

It started off ok. We discovered Nielsen Brothers Flooring at the Settle home show. Loved both the hardwood and tile product but the trouble started once the sale was made and the install started. The install of the hardwood took place on a Friday and was completed on time. The install of the tile started on a Monday and was still not finished 12 days later. Installer came and ripped up the floor then left to get supplies at 11 AM came back at 4 PM said he had car issues and left at 5. The next day he said he would be in at 8 to finish but said the key would not work and did not call us back until 5:01 PM so where he was at during the day, we still don't know. Came in two days later and didn't leave until 8:15 PM. Was to come back the next day and didn't. Came by the next day and finished one are but left again. He then went on vacation and has not been back since. I do not recommend Nielsen Brothers For any flooring. Terrible install and NO customer service!!!
