The final quality of the work was very good.
I have already started using Lakevue on another, larger project.
"THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND WORDS."
The carpenter, not the owner did not follow the plan for the permit and put the flashing in the wrong place so the water was running into my house. The work was done when it was dry but when it started to rain the water was coming in through my basement wall. It took me a couple of weeks to get them back but the owner did come back with a different person and fix that. Obviously nothing is ever perfect if you have to come back and fix it in my opinion. And the way he had built it, it was hard to take it apart. He did make it right, I felt fine about them but there may was communication problems with the owner. This particular carpenter who I have no idea if he still works for him, was easy to get along with and seemed to know what he was doing, got ahead of himself when he put the flashing in the wrong place. I would definitely not recommend him. We were talking about doing more work but decided against using them. I wouldn't they are horrible, I just have reservations. I have enough reservations to not trust them anymore.

"Thank you member. Our pleasure providing you service."
After teardown, we discovered a leak in the outer siding from my hot water heater. They took care of that as well at a reasonable cost.
Jeff is very knowledgable regarding decking, he went more heavy duty than was required. 2x6 support posts and lots of lag bolts for the inner ledger. I'm quite pleased with their work and would recommend them for any deck work needed.
"Thank you much , member. At your service."
I originally wanted to have old deck repaired. Once Jeff started to check what needed to be done, he noticed the spacings between the joists were too wide and the brackets holding the support posts were rusted and flaking (most of the brackets had rusted through to the posts) and needed to be replaced. Jeff estimated the cost to repair the deck and bring it up to code. He also did an estimate for a new deck and found it was less expensive than repairing the old. Of course I opted for the new deck!
After hiring his company, he scheduled the work to begin in two weeks. Soon after he called and asked if they could start two days earlier, which was great with me. The old deck was demolished and gone before I knew it, and the next day Larry and Tony started on the new one. Jeff said it would take 5 days to do all the work. I'd say they did it in 4 plus a couple of hours to demolish and remove the old deck. The work area was picked up at the end of each day, which was very much appreciated, and when the work was completed they picked up everything and gave the area a second check before leaving. The area under my deck is cleaner than before and the ground level. It seemed everything went as planned for Lakevue Renovations and the only surprise for me was how great the new deck looks.
"Thank you for your business and kind words Member."
The workers, Larry & Chuck, were very professional & a pleasure to have around. I was impressed with Larry's solutions to some of the installation issues that will always arise on a project like this.. I.E. How to install extra supports; How to deal with grade level variants; How to make the water barrier work within the structure; His attention to detail; The City of Kirkland inspector was obviously impressed with the craftsmanship & design. The inspector said several times: " Nice, very nice" I'm a happy customer. I got a quality product at a reasonable price.

"Thank you Have a great deck season!"
Jeff came out on a Saturday morning to walk the yard with us, talk through the plans and show us samples of decking materials. Then he sat down at the dining room table and designed our deck. It was great. We were able to tweak it as he went. Jeff had a number of really helpful suggestions about features we might like and about ways we could save money on the project and by lunchtime, we had a completed deck design. They were able to start work the following Monday.
Most of the work on our project was done by a very pleasant and highly skilled carpenter named Larry. Larry says he's 70 but it's hard to believe. The man works like someone half his age and he's a delight to have around. Friendly, punctual and attentive to detail.
The work took about a full week: digging and pouring footings, framing, decking, building 3 sets of steps with grabrails and lights and the finish work. During the process because we were so pleased with their work and because the timing was right, we amended the job to include a new sliding glass door, which would open onto the deck. That added a couple days to the length of the project but it was completely worth it.
During the whole process, we found Jeff to be easy to work with. He explains things clearly, responded promptly to any questions by phone or e-mail if we didn't see him at the house that day. He kept us in the loop on when to expect what to happen. Larry was punctual & thorough.( And he was nice to our elderly cat!) The job site was clean and organized at the end of every day. We were very pleased with their attention to detail.
EX #1 - At the ends of the deck, the ends of the joists are cut off at an angle, which makes them much less apparent to the eye and gives a nice, finished look to the project.
EX #2 - one set of steps leads down from the deck into the main body of the yard. Jeff & Larry created a small landing of paving stones that completes the transition from the deck to the grass and, again, gives it a very nice, finished look.
EX #3 - because of where our dryer vent is, we had to create an access port in the deck so we can still have the vent cleaned out from time to time. Jeff & Larry created a hatch that is big enough to work but still blends in nicely with the rest of the decking.
We were happy with the quality, timing and cost of the work and are completely delighted with the end product. Our new deck is perfectly suited to our needs, will be easy to maintain and will last a long time.
We enjoyed working with Jeff & Larry and, in fact, have moved on to a second project with them, replacing some of our aluminum framed windows with better insulated vinyl ones.
"Thank you both for your kind words, It has been our pleasure working with you."
