Once he started the job he stuck with it until it was finished, coming in over the weekend actually to wrap it up.
I'm very happy with the results and would absolutely hire Travis again for this type of work.
After taking an initial look, Travis made a very clear budget sheet. It itemized his plan and cost in detail. This convinced us to go with him. We were planning to take care of the interior walls by ourselves, but realized the walls are not in very good condition and it would take too much time to skim-coat them ourselves. After talking with Travis, he was able to get the job done over the weekend in very short notice. The price is reasonable and we are very happy with the walls. Due to our moving schedules, Travis even paid the extra to have our closet doors installed during the weekend, too.
We are very happy working with him.
Overall Travis made this very easy. We had complete confidence in him from the start and that never waivered. He was SO efficient at getting started we had to scramble a bit to clear the area as we expected a longer wait for start-up. He kept the work area clean and explained what he was doing and why at each step. Another contractor said our old siding could not be matched. Travis found siding so close you would need to measure any discrepancy. We were more concerned about getting payment to him than he was but making sure good work is compensated is a sticking point for us. His estimate did not include tax and it would have been a good piece of information up front when negotiating with the insurance company. We did not have a written contract beyond the estimate. I was a bit nervous about that after reading an Angie's List article but he stood behind any implied work that his costs could have covered.
I will not let future projects out to bid. I will simply call Travis.I would be foolish to do anything else.
Travis was enthusiastic about working with us, very friendly, and took the time to make sure he really understood what we were looking for. He did a great job of communicating what was going on in the process, which was really valuable for us, as this was our first time dealing with a contractor. I always felt like I could call or email with any questions and get an honest answer.
All his staff was super professional, and I feel like they did a great job of respecting our time and our house. They also did a great job of communicating what was going on, and making sure we know where things stood at the end of a workday. The room turned out great, it was done quickly, and Travis actually managed to come in UNDER budget!
We went from having such a negative experience trying to find a contractor to having a great one after finding Travis, I can't recommend him enough. If we have anything else that needs to get done, I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.
Called Travis after some work colleagues recommended Travis/Frameco and reading reviews on AngiesList. Travis is responsive to calls/emails, professional, flexible, helpful and friendly. Travis came by to look over and estimate time/material required to do the job, his estimates were great and spot on, there were no suprises and the work done was great.
Brad/Ryan were the folks that came round to do the work, they're both fast and great to work with, Brad has a bunch of experience that I really appreciated/benefited-from. I'm fairly hands-on (interferring?) and like to learn/help out with these types of projects, learnt a bunch and look forward to working with Travis and his team in the near future.
Travis brings a calm and pragmatic approach to any unforeseen difficulty. He and his crew work fast, so know exactly what you want and be ready for them! His crew and subcontractors (electrical, millwork, drywall, flooring, gutters) are professional and courteous. Travis gave excellent advice on how to approach each aspect of the remodel, but he didn't push his ideas if we really wanted something different (for example, we insisted on finger-joint pine for the moldings and OSMO Polyx-Oil to finish the fir floor). He remained unruffled by delays in materials and hardware we supplied and by our dithering on decisions.
All costs that exceeded the original estimate were due to our decisions and to the surprises that await the purchaser of a rather ineptly owner-built home.
This is the real deal, folks. He's a great guy who does great work for a reasonable price. My job was big and it was expensive because the supplies for a composite hidden screw deck of this size are pricey. His workers were here early, worked through heat, rain, and even great football games without a complaint. They were always ready with suggestions when I needed them.
I am so grateful that Travis could avail himself to us and give us such a great new look and feel for our home. What a difference. Now I can't wait until the Summer returns! I recommend him to anyone!
Even before the project began, I had a sense that Travis was a highly motivated person. He was the first contractor (of several that I'd called from Angie's List) to return my original call (to see if he was available to do a bid). Once he called, we were able to quickly set up a date (the next day!) for him to take a look at the job. We chose to meet at 5:00, and he was at the house at that time--and even a few minutes early! As he looked over the job, Travis showed the quality of his professionalism. He actively listened to what we envisioned for the project, and seemed very confident that he could get the job done with competence and efficiency.
While he told me to expect a bid by the end of the following week, he really impressed me by having the bid in several days earlier than he had projected it would be sent! His bid seemed very reasonable and was within the budget that I had been hoping for. Once we decided to go with him, Travis was able to begin work very soon thereafter.
The project began on October 19th, and went very smoothly from start to finish (he completed the project on November 1st). Travis--and most of his sub-contractors--started work early--at 7am. I thought that really reflected the energy and motivation he brought with him to the job. When Travis was on the job, he was very positive, open, friendly, and accommodating. If I had any questions, he happily answered them with a positive attitude--and a solid knowledge base.
The employees he brought with him to help him on the job were very friendly and bright, as well. I was very impressed with his electrician and his plumber--both high quality professionals who brought the same level of enthusiasm and workmanship to the job as Travis did. The drywall crew was less impressive--and were a little careless in their workmanship. They left the lights on and the door open at the end of the job on one particular day.
We experienced an unexpected hurdle along the way--nails inadvertently punctured plumbing in the ceiling (done by the drywall guys)--but I have to say--Travis did an amazing job of handling the situation/s. He was calm, focused--totally kept himself together--and worked expeditiously to resolve the problem--by quickly enlisting his plumber to come to the house and help him to resolve the issue. Also--the error was not originally the fault of Travis and Frameco. The plumbing work that was compromised had been done (not to full completion which caused the problem) by someone who had done the work for us separately.
Overall, the experience with Travis and Frameco was unmatched. I can't recommend him highly enough! He is the contractor that everyone wishes existed, but doesn't believe is really "out there". Good news! The type of contractor we want does exist.--someone who is competent, motivated, trustworthy, dependable, efficient, open, friendly, and respectful--and it's Travis Jensen-
A previous reviewer wrote in his review--"You MUST hire Travis and his guys!" When I read that quote, it helped me to make my decision. And I've been thinking of it ever since. I whole- heartedly agree. You really must hire Travis Jensen and FRAMECO CONSTRUCTION!
Despite his booked schedule, Travis understood it was an "emergency" and came out and evaluated the issues that very evening I called.
Within one week, while we were on vacation, Travis coordinated with our plumber Mike to completely remodel our bathroom, fitting in our job in the afternoons and evenings even with his packed schedule. As we were out of town for the whole week, he was great at communicating their progress and letting us know when we had to make decisions. He also made recommendations on these, which was so helpful, and we followed his recommendations completely.
The end product was absolutely beautiful--better than we could have imagined!
Not only is Travis a great contractor, he's a really nice guy. He explains things thoroughly, understands and works effectively within budgets and really feels for his customers, often working overtime to help them out. We will definitely turn to Travis and FrameCo Construction for future projects!
After contacting Frameco, they worked with us as we prepared for the remodel. Travis was flexible with scheduling and allowed us to get our ducks in a row. When we were ready, he moved quickly into action sending us Brad and Ryan to start on the framing. They were with us throughout the project as they were finishing the shed when the last of the basement remodel was completed.
The quality of the work was excellent, and the Frameco folks made certain everything was clean looking and to my satisfaction - if I didn't like the way something was done (or more likely forgot to tell them about a detail) they fixed it without complaint. Everyone else that worked on the project brought the same eye for quality and good work. I consider myself pretty handy, and on the occasions I checked on their work, everything was level, square, plumb, and took into account oddities with the age of the house.
Travis himself was always involved, when things fell behind schedule because *we* needed to add items, Travis showed up with extra folks and helped get us back on schedule. Travis even worked on a Saturday/Sunday one weekend to get things right. And I cannot express this enough, they did this because *I* needed to add unforeseen items. They did what it took to help me get back on my schedule and not miss dependencies for future work. Not many companies in this industry are as willing to help with this situation - but with Frameco the schedule never slipped a date and a very large and complicated basement remodel was finished in only a month with a shed and an upstairs bathroom remodel to boot.
Travis frequently stopped by early in the morning to check on the work or drop off supplies/restock his framers. The poor guy probably works at least 12 hours a day but he never forgets anything you need. Frameco's rates were very reasonable, and as a general contractor their fee's were exceptional.
I look forward to having Frameco back next year when we are ready to do our Deck and some upstairs work. When his guys finished my shed, I gave them all my big power tools (table saw, chop saw, other stuff) that I bought when I thought I would never be able to find a good contractor and had planned on doing everything myself. It was a symbolic release, now that I know Frameco is there I'll never need those things again - and if I do, I know who to call. DIY is cool but I have better things to do with my time.
