Woodworking
We ordered a custom kitchen island from this company, based on his
website and the implication that he was a craftsman who takes pride in
his work. We found out the hard way that his woodworking skills were
nowhere near what he implied and advertised. The list of deficiencies
is as follows (and we have pictures if needed):--the wood used
throughout is not "furniture-grade" wood. it appears that scraps or
building construction-grade wood was used.--some of the wood has termite
damage. --the top is wavy, not flat/smooth--the wood filler is not
consistent...some of the wood on the top has spaces where liquids could
go right through--the plywood used internally was not treated in any
way.--the exterior shelves are not level--all three drawers are not
constructed correctly and do not slide smoothly.--numerous places have
screws that poke through the wood--a bare minimum, if any, sanding was
done on the piece--there are numerous wood-filled holes and spaces that
were done improperly and incompletely--you did not include a shelf in
the left-side cabinet, as discussed--there are sawdust, leftover wood
screws, and even a drill bit left in the cabinet--the side shelves are
not adjustable as was discussed. "adjustable" does not mean unscrewing
brackets -- it means popping out dowels and easily adjusting the
shelves-- the notches for the shelves where they meet the posts are cut
at off-angles and are too far from the posts, and the space between each
one is different--numerous places where the paint is chipped off and
raw wood is exposed--The piece of wood under the drawers is loose and
not attached very well.--The top feels very raw like there is no type of
coating on it. The frame around the top does not meet up at the corners
- it should have been mitre-cut.--numerous instances of over-spraying
the red paint.
