About us

It's important to know who you are dealing with especially when you are allowing someone to enter your home to do construction work. And, at Rainier View Construction and Roofing we want to be your trusted partner. Our Corporate Office is located in Enumclaw, and we also have an Eastern-Washington satellite office in the Tri-cities in Richland. Rainier View Construction & Roofing is a business owned by Tracey and Don Prociw. As you may or may not remember, their previous business Prociw Construction & Roofing was a strong member of the construction community. However, after an incredible run from 1993 - 2009, Prociw Construction & Roofing closed its doors after Tracey Prociw was diagnosed with heart disease and the prognosis was not encouraging. During the next 2 years, after a cutting edge heart surgery, Tracey is now well and, after moving back to Enumclaw, Tracey and Don have decided to do what they do best together and thus Rainier View Construction and Roofing was born. Geared toward utilizing sustainable materials in their contracting services - Rainier View Construction & Roofing’s services consist of roofing, siding, windows, solar installations, additions, remodels, and custom decking. Rainier View Construction & Roofing has aligned itself with some exciting materials - some exclusive vendor contracts (such as their alignment with Classic, Kassel & Irons and Kaycan), many green, and all high quality. Because the company is started small, Rainier View Construction & Roofing can offer all the services of the big contractors, but with the hometown value and economical prices their customers deserve. Rainier View Construction & Roofing invites you to drop by one of their offices, check out this website in depth to learn more about us and our products. Also check out our event page, as we may be near you at an event in the near future where you can meet us and see our products up close and personal.

It has taken me two years to write this because I just didn’t know what to think of the whole ordeal. I’m finally ready to share so no one makes the same mistake that I did. I own a roughly 920 sq ft home in Covington with a one car garage. I ran across this company at Enumclaw Wine Walk in 2015 or so and expressed interest n siding or roofing as both were really needed on my home. They called for over a year before I finally agreed to have them out to look at the siding. When the salesman arrived, he mentioned the roof needed repair more than the siding. I agreed as he wasn’t wrong. He pressed and pressed me to go in my house, sit down and look at options for a roof. He was a bit smarmy and kind of made me nervous, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to have him give me an estimate. Once inside, he continued to press and made me feel incredibly uncomfortable. I’m a single female and had him over at a time where my neighbors weren’t home. I felt a bit trapped in my own house. This man saw an opportunity to make a sale and he pressed until it happened. I became emotional and called a couple of friends for advice. When I gave the quote amount to one he advised me not to sign this contract. It was way too much. My dad; however, was very concerned that my house stay in good order so he advised me to just sign and assured me he would help with the financial impact. I’m a teacher in the local community and while the cost of a roof isn’t exactly easy for anyone, it was especially impactful on my salary at he time. The salesman quoted me roughly $13,900 for the roof on my tiny house. As Tim passed, I was so uncomfortable that I finally just signed the contract to get him out of my house. I knew I had three days to back out and planned to do so, but my roof ended up leaking and I needed someone to call for help. Rainier it was. I will give them credit for being responsive in that way. This salesperson knew I was nervous about who would be over to do the work and when. He promised he would watch out for me the whole way. Imagine my surprise when I got a call from my neighbor while I was at work telling me the roofers has ascended, in all sorts of unmarked, personal vehicles. One thing I had asked explicitly is if they’d be showing up on schedule in company vehicles, I was assured they would. Nope. They didn’t even give notice when they came. The company did feel bad enough about this scheduling snafu that they sent a small Visa gift card for the trouble. Now, two years later, the quality of the roof is fine, some soft spots still, but it certainly is no better than any of my neighbors’ roofs. It should have cost no more than $8,000 at the very most. I was set up with their financing at Salal Credit Union on a 10 year payoff and have made absolutely no progress towards chipping away at the principal. I finally moved the loan to BECU and will pay it off within a couple years. How did I get myself into this? I don’t know. I should have gotten multiple offers. I should have been stronger with the salesman. I should have stood up for myself. I didn’t. And the sad thing is the company saw that as an opportunity to capitalize on a sale. Where are the ethics? How many people do they do this to? How do they look at themselves in the mirror? (Probably the mirror of a sports car my teacher salary is paying for.) Ya, they put a decent roof on, but almost every other aspect of what they told me was a lie to close the deal....at nearly double the price I should have paid. Please, if you’re still reading, use my experience as a cautionary tale. Be prepared for what you are doing, have support, if you are young or a first time owner...don’t do this alone. And definitely do not use this company without having done a ton of research first!!!

Terrible communications! Took me almost four months to get them back to finish! They are in bankruptcy!

The quality of their work is very bad. It took them 1 year and 5 tries to fix a leak in the attic. Water still comes in through the kitchen vent when it rains hard. Debris and bugs still come in through the vent ridge cap into the attic. They have stopped returning my emails.

Terrible! Owner (Don) makes promises he can't keep! 3 months after making promises to show up to complete job - had to physically go the the business to have him make a commitment to come back and finish! Business is now in bankruptcy!

They were friendly but did a poor job on downspouts and clean up. Also will not respond to calls or emails.

This company now refuses to answer any emails or phone calls or any other type of request for information. They took our deposit on a new patio cover and have done nothing in over four months. Last October, they quoted us to tear down and install a new patio cover on our home. We accepted the bid and paid the required deposit (half the price). At the time, we were told four to six weeks for completion. However, at the end of six weeks, we had heard nothing aside from a welcome email. After multiple emails and phone calls to them, we finally got a hold of someone. We were told that whoever was in charge of scheduling had not been doing their job, but that a manager would soon be by to look. A project manager (who is apparently no longer with them) came by, took some final measurements, and told us that we'd be scheduled for the first or second week in January. Come the second week of January, though, we'd gotten no communication on when someone might be coming. It took another round of calls and a couple days, but finally we reached someone. We were scheduled for January 18th. Then, on the 17th, they emailed and informed us that we would have to reschedule to the 23rd due to all the rain. This seemed odd, considering that no roofing or other exposed surfaces would be impacted, but we understood. The next day, they called to confirm that the reschedule would be all right, and we agreed. Low and behold, though, on Monday the 23rd, all day we wait and no one shows up. We call and call and email the person who had been talking to us, but nothing. Finally, we call an alternate number, and they give us the number to Don Prociw, one of the owners. I call, leave a message, and he gets back to me. He tells me that the person (the one person!) who does those installs is very sick and in fact had to go the hospital, and that the lady we'd been in contact with is also out sick. Despite my own protestations, that's all I can get, other than that we should be contacted as soon as the lady is back in the office. All week long we try emails and phone calls, but no one ever picked up or responded. We let it go for a couple of weeks. Now, my wife and I have tried again, but the owner, Don, hung up on us! It is apparent that they are purposefully ignoring us. TL;DR: Rainier View quoted us, we paid a deposit, and they have taken that and refuse to communicate. No work was ever done, no materials delivered, nothing. If you can get a hold of them, do not do business with these people!

The job was done pretty well but there were several problems that required someone to come back and go up on the roof. Getting someone out was very difficult; it took more than one month. It only took him an hour to tighten down the two skylights and fix a bent shingle. The roofers had put too much tacky compound on the chimney and two birds stuck to it and died slowly. My problem with their job is that, even though they knew it snows here (I told them) they did not discuss snow hooks with me and should have known that I needed them. Although I did not really want to deal with them again, I thought they might give me a price break because they had done the roof. When I requested a bid from them to do this and install one more solar tube, they put me through the ringer. They rescheduled two appointments and the third was a no show with no call. After more than a month of frequent calls and e-mail on my part and no response on theirs, they quoted me a price which was more than half the price of the original roofing job ($19,450)! It's clear they don't want my business and the manufacturer of the metal shingles and matching snow hooks and the Better Business Bureau will be hearing from me as I seek someone else to do the job. Save yourself a lot of grief and deal with someone responsive and honest.

Bought a house with a new roof put on by these guys. The new roof was a contingency for us buying the house. With the new roof we were suppose to have got a "30 year warranty" over the last 3 years they have been out 4 times for a leak in the same area. Also i was told that since the seller of the house didnt transfer the warranty they would no longer honor it. I had to plead my case to get them to come back for the same leak. The last time they sent someone out it was the project manager Brian. He was clueless as to what to do about it and said he would get back to me. Guess what? He didn't. Every time they come out they think it's the skylights. I am writing this as it is raining and my skylights are tarped over and my roof is leaking. Guess if you want something done right you just need to do it yourself. I will just roof over what they messed up. Bottom line is the "30 year warranty" means nothing and it's like pulling teeth to get them to fix their crappy work. You have my number, Rainier View, if you ever want to make it right.

We had a fantastic experience with R&V. We hire them to paint the exterior of our home, and we couldn't be happier. The quality of their work was fantastic, we were impressed with the professionalism that at every stage of the process. I have and will continue to recommended them to both family and friends and plan to use them again for a future interior project. An overall great experience!!

Horrible communication and customer service. I was lied to and deceived. Didn't tell me when my job would start, just had five guys show up out of the blue and start tearing my roof off. When I had questions and concerns, I was met with threats of lawyers and leans. Worst experience I have ever had with any contractor. I will never have dealings with them in the future

It was a gigantic project. When it came time to have the items completed, they didn't always do what we have agreed to. There was a lot of having to do things twice, because they didn't do it the right way the first time. But overall it was a good experience and I would use them again in the future.

Extremely pleased with all service from initial contact to final cleanup.  All members of company were friendly and professional.  Work was completed on time and completely happy with finished roof.  Our first contact was at a coffee shop where they purchased our drinks. They were never pushy and felt more like friends by the time of completion.  Any phone calls to the office were answered immediately or returned in a timely manner.  They even worked at finding financing for us.

The roof looks okay, it is bit bumpy.  I am expecting it to flatten out when the weather gets warmer.   No leaks or sky light problems.  The foreman and workers who completed the job were excellent.  Very professional and prompt.  They cleaned up and roofed in the rain plus cold.
I felt the price was high for a recover.  Two of my neighbors got new roofs in the past two months, they paid about the same price for a tear off.  The initial price I was quoted was double but was for tear off.
I also felt uncomfortable with the high pressure sales in person.
I ultimately choose Rainier because they did my siding as well and for the life time guarantee.
I am happy with my roof, the sticker shock has worn off.

It went well. They replace the roof quickly and they cleaned up. We did have a little bit of communication issues in scheduling when they would come out and when they couldn't make it but talking to the owner we were able to get things worked out quickly. Now we have a great roof. - Kellee Rodriguez

The people at Rainier View were pleasant to work with and ultimately completed replacement of our roof and gutters. The issue was in the details and workmanship along the way. We were replacing a concrete tile roof with a composite that required plywood to be installed. During tear off, at least one of the workers stepped through our ceiling in four different locations, knocking tongue and groove cedar planking out and leaving holes as large as 8 ft. by 3 ft. in both our kitchen and living room. Rainier responded well to these issues and dispatched a crew to repair the damage within a few days, but it took the final incident to remove one of the workers from the roof to prevent further damage.
After the roof was completed, we were shocked to have significant water leakage around our chimney. Rainier had left the old flashing despite the chimney being a problem spot we had identified during the project scoping. They first sent someone to patch the chimney but that did not fix the problem and they had to return a third time to flash the chimney correctly. It is hard for me to understand how this was not done during the project.
Rainier contracted out the gutter installation. There were some boards in need of repair, but neither Rainier or their sub-contractor did any preparation ahead of installing the new gutters. They did not even brush out debris and just installed the gutters right over dirty fascia boards. My biggest issue is that water pools in the gutters right over our main entrance to the house. The gutters look great and function well except for this low point and I will be contacting to see if anything can be done to fix the issue.
The final product has been working well for the past eight months, but I was disappointed in the lack of attention to detail and the need for constant monitoring and escalation to get the roof installed correctly.

Rainier View did a fantastic job. We scheduled the project back in July to begin the 3rd week of August. The project actually started on Wednesday, which was fine with us since we weren't too tightly scheduled. Don's crew showed up bright and early every day, were very friendly and professional, and got right to work. A couple days, they stayed well past 5pm to ensure they didn't leave any portion of the job hanging overnight. Work was completed around mid-day the following Tuesday, and the gutter team came out to do the downspouts on Friday.
From end to end, the team was efficient, professional, knowledgable and friendly. Don came out personally on Friday afternoon to inspect the work.
We're already in discussion for our next project with Rainier View.

The staff was good.  It was over two months before they started.  They were not very communicative.  One of the managers had an illness.  It got to where I was calling at least once a week to reach someone.  Once they started the job they were pretty prompt.

Entire project took considerably longer than expected but now that it is done I am satisfied with the result.   Our foreman was excellent, very communicative.  How a foreman should be!   Windows installers were pro!  13 aluminum windows out and new ones  installed FAST with no mess.  Rainier View crew did extra work to remove basement ceiling so wiring could be done ( I approved that because I'm going to remodel anyway) but the electricians also had to go down walls from attic to get other wiring in.  They  really went above and beyond the call of duty to get the wiring (including coax and cat5) done without damaging my walls which I am VERY thankful for.     When I did finally call to speak with Tracey, one of the owners, to express my concern over the delays she explained some issues I hadn't been aware of, understood my concerns and appropriately took responsibility and got the ball rolling again.     So I am positive that those delays wouldn't happen again on a future project.
I can't say our project went off without a hitch but due to their quality workmanship and responsiveness, Rainier View will be the first company I call when I'm ready to field bids on our next remodel.

The staff were professional, friendly, timely and fulfilled the work as described and promised.  I have some mobility issues and needed to be able to get my car in and out of the garage during the roof replacement and they were able to place the recycle bin in my driveway in such a way to accommodate my needs perfectly during the removal of the old roof and in applying the new roof.  They went above and beyond in keeping the yard cleaned up after each day of work.  I have a dog who is a "runner" and I was concerned about the workers leaving the gate open but they were very careful about this and made sure that the backyard gate was locked whenever they went in/out and that there were no nails or other roofing materials left that could harm him.  They even patched a second floor window screen that had a small hole in it from a piece of roofing material - the worker can back on his own time after the job was done and paid for to do this.  I would definitely recommend them.
