The emergency room staff provided outstanding service (that's the only reason they are not graded 'F'.) When admitted to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) I was placed with a roommate into a room that was designed for one patient. The patient in the bed next to me was in chronic pain and he constantly moaned in pain. I was asked if I wanted ear plugs to drown out the sound. The room had one TV with a shared remote - if I put the sound on mute, the patient next to me could cancel mute and pump up the volume. The patient also enjoyed channel surfing. The patient next to me had two visitors and I had one. There was not ample room for three people to be in the room at the same time. When using the bathroom there were at least two unwashed urine containers sitting around the toilet. I thought to myself - this is sanitary?! It's important for patients to nurture their mind, body and spirit as they heal; the more calm the environment, the more positive the impact on physical and emotional health. This environment was not conducive to rest and healing. I strongly recommend going directly to the main hospital and avoiding satellite campuses of the larger hospitals particularly if you have any chance of being admitted.

The ER Department is great. Very fast services from compassionate and caring staff who took the time to explain things. The Progressive Care Unit (PPU - rooms between ICU and regular hospital wards) also was staffed with helpful caring staff. But the surgical ward was a whole different experience. Staff wouldn't explain anything and had a bad attitude. Meals would be delivered but my spouse didn't get fed until I got there every day and fed him. Therapists didn't do their jobs and looked for excuses to not do them. Staff was too busy (so they claimed) to walk my spouse or get him water or other necessities. I had to be there all the time to assist him. one of the staff doctors was down right rude and ignored requests for information and made decisions based on incorrect assumptions. I had to complain to the surgeon to get anything done. I complained to management and nothing improved. The food was terrible and only very limited choices. The menu was the same every day so very limited selections. The rooms look shabby and worn out but Swedish is remodeling so that might improve. But judging by the plans they have posted they are installing a fancy lobby with fireplace. It would be better to spend it on patient areas.
Swedish Edmonds is the closest to our house and I would use the ER again but for anything elective I'd go somewhere else. After his discharge he wAs supposed to see therapists in the out patient department but we could never get an appointment. And they repeatedly billed the wrong insurance company so we are still getting bills.
Visitor parking is very limited and requires walking up/down steep hills.

They were great. I was there for a couple of hours. They released me after they put a brace on,and gave me the instructions. It just happened that the on call doctor was my orthopedic doctor. They are so good, you don't even get to sit down in the waiting room. I have full confidence in them, I didn't have any problems.

That was my first experience with them. I was in hospital for about 10 days. It took that long to get my lungs working again. It is the place to go. My husband was there when it was not Swedish, and it was not good at all. I was raring to go there, and I was so impressed. I have been there twice, and I have been impressed every time. I am so amazed at how fast they are, and how professional the people there are. They did everything they needed to do. They had to take blood out of me 4 times a day, and they were there for that.

I go to a lab in Edmonds because it's closer to my house. The lab itself is about 10 minutes ride. I like it a lot to start with, but it's really far away for some of our medical providers. It's like between half an hour to a 45-minute drive and that's a good deal farther away than we were. So, in that sense I kind of wish we hadn't move quite so far away. It's good. I would say sometimes I have to wait a little bit if there is a number of people because they have phlebotomists who are serving the entire hospital including the emergency department. So it means if they have a lot of people in the hospital needing blood draws or people in the ER sometimes I ended waiting to wait in the lab area a little bit. I think I've waited to a half an hour before which I understand. I understand what they're doing. They're very friendly and very helpful. You can walk in anytime. In fact, anytime day or night. So, if I come in and the office is closed, there is a phone there and I call and let somebody know I'm there and they come down and take my blood.

When in pain, every minute felt like forever. In reality, I think I was checked in and brought back to the examining area for initial evaluation in under 10 minutes (luckily, there was only one other person waiting at the time I went in). Vitals taken and initial questions were asked, followed by a physician's assistant gathering further details. From there, I was put in an ER room and changed into a gown for further evaluation and tests.
Things took a little longer once I was put in an ER room, but they made sure I was comfortable and in less pain. About 4 hours before it was determined I should be admitted overnight. (keep in mind: during this time, I was not in critical condition, was prepped and given a cat scan, made comfortable enough to take a short nap (hadn't slept the night before due to the onset of pain), and received results that were reviewed by a PA and specialist.)
A few shift changes happened during the time I was down there, but each person signing off made sure to introduce me to the person taking over the next shift. After cat scan results came back, the PA reviewed over the phone with the GI specialist on call and determined it was best to have me admitted for the night for further tests. They wheeled me to my hospital room in the bed I was in. Soon after that, I was in a wheel chair on the way to meet with the same GI specialists phoned while I was down in the ER. More test were taken, and then back to my room and well taken care of.
I think four people were assigned to my room at all times: a Nurse, Nurse's Aid, Physician's Assistant and a Physician/Specialist. The floor manager also checked in on my comfort and needs a few times a day. Everyone was friendly and made sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed - within reason, of course :-)
Overall, I was very pleasantly surprised of my first-ever ER visit and hospitalization. Not nearly as traumatizing as I had imagined. I hope it's my last ER visit, but very comforting for me and my husband to know that a great facility is so close to our home in case we ever need it again.

My eyelid nodules had reduced in size and stopped irritating me by the appointment. Dr Seto looked at my eyelid and advised that the nodule swelling had gone down but to come in right away if they raised again and he could take care of them. He advised they weren't cancerous, which relieved my concern. He also discussed my contact wear and that he does not recommend wearing contacts overnight, even if the lenses are made for overnight wear.

The staff was OK...not great. My ,memory was in and out because I was in so much pain I took too many muscle relaxers and when my husband tried to wake me, I was incoherent...so he called for an ambulance.
The staff did nothing for me except take my blood and urine and put a cuff on my arm to measure my blood pressure. They did not recommend any treatment (except recommended me to AA~~which I do not need), nor did they give me any pain killers. They could have put a local shot of steroids in my neck. They coud have shot stronger muscle relaxants into my neck. They could have given me a collar, made recommendations to other pain and neck specialists...but they were too lazy. I believe a tech read my CTscan, because there is something WAY wrong with me and the tech did not catch it. They chastised me for having Marianna in my system, but I am a MMJ patient in Washington state for arthritis.
The bill will cost a fortune and I got ZERO benefit from their "service". I left in as much pain as I was in before, and I am dreading the bill they are going to send me. They deserve to be paid ZERO dollars and ZERO cents. But I bet my bill will be well over a thousand dollars....with my insurance company paying the bulk of it.
I think they were terrible to me and I will not go back. Also, I do not remember giving them permission to look at my records from other providers, but they seemed to be very well informed of my other hospital visits over the years. I think that is against the law.
If my husband would have put me in a comfortable position at home, with my special neck pillow, none of this would have happened.I would have awoken in better shape than all of the jostling they did to me without protecting my neck. Now I will owe at least $2,000 for the paultry "care" I was given at Steven's Swedish hospital. Some doctors and nurses HAVE to graduate at the bottom of their class....and I believe all of them went to Stevens/Swedish in Edmonds, WA .

I go there because they are close. They are competent. I wouldn't be going there again because I'm moving.

The entire staff was AMAZING. It was a scary situation and they made me feel safe and OK. I was there for a few hours because they wanted to make sure they covered everything and felt good about releasing me. The heater was out which made for a cold room, but they kept bringing me heated blankets and were very apologetic. I would go back there anytime and highly recommend.

She was really happy with everyone's care there. They were all very friendly. She was very nervous about going under anesthesia. They did a lot to alleviate her fears and help her feel comfortable while she was there. She had a lot of questions and they were very patient with it. They explained the procedure very well.

I had some bad experiences in the ER at Stevens Hospital. It is very apathectic and unprofessional. They do unsafe practices such as with handling bodily fluids, and not being cautions of infection control. There is a long wait no matter what. There is lots of staff just chatting and not helping the patients. There is just a general apathy of they could really care less about the patient. I was hospitalized because I was poisoned. I had a urinary catheter in. They gave me some charcoal to clean out my body system. I felt I needed to use the bathroom quickly, and nobody wanted to tend to me. It was shift change at that time, and nobody wanted to help me. They told me go ahead and go to the bathroom in the bed, even though it would be totally unsterile since I had the catheter in. I had to tell them to take out the catheter now. I didn't want to get e-coli into the sterile catheter tube. That all took place in the emergency room. It doesn't matter what time of day, or what your problem is, they treat them all the same. I had no information about what was going on with my body while I was poisoned. They are not thorough, and I didn't feel like I was in good hands. If I wouldn't have had my own training, it could have been a lot worse. I have not heard one positive experience with the ER. They have had so many confusion with my bills. I have had to re-direct them with billing many times, so that they would bill the responsible party. I always said I would not go there unless I was dying, and I was the last time I went there. I went in for an out-patient nerve procedure. I had a great doctor, but the nursing staff was horrible. I just had my nerves burned in 3 levels of my back, and in immense pain. None of them would get the doctor so I could get some relief, because the nurse was mad because her lunch break relief hadn't showed up yet. The nurse was too busy trying to track down the person that was supposed to be there to give her the lunch break.

We went to Steven's because it is close to our home and we thought it would be convenient and fast because it isn't a huge place. We should have gone elsewhere. Got into the ER quickly and ER experience was good if a bit disorganized, but once my partner was inpatient it was a bit of a chaotic mess. Numerous times staff tried to over-medicate him by giving him too much insulin and it seemed as if staff did not have good communication about treatment and discharge plan. Also room was old and cramped - badly in need of renovation.

They were very good and helpful. We pre-registered and when we got there, one of the people told us where to park, how to go in, what door to go through and who to ask for. She gave us the information without us knowing what questions to ask her. They were extremely helpful on the phone, and when we showed up for the pre-registration the day before, they were very thorough with their explanations. The facility is very clean and tidy. It is probably an older facility but that didn?t keep them from providing good service.

I know they have been getting a lot of bad in the last year but they are trying very hard to make up for that. I have gone there several times and they have been just great. My last visit for the allergic reaction, I was in and out in no time and they took very good care of me.
