Pro Piano was hired by a neighbor of mine to move a piano from her house into mine. Before the move she described where the piano was to go in my house (the basement) and the difficulty in getting around the side of the house into the basement. She was told that this would not be a problem. She asked them to come and look at my house and the access to make sure, but was told that was not necessary. Pro Piano showed up at my house with the piano and the movers told me that they could not get the piano into my basement since access on one side was too steep and on the other side too narrow. We talked about going through my neighbors yard, but the movers seemed rushed and did not want to consider that option. Instead they moved the piano upstairs. I did not want it upstairs since I have very little room and I had already moved furniture in the basement to make room for the piano downstairs. My friend could not take the piano back as she was getting ready for a move.
If we had known in advance that Pro Piano could not move it into the basement, then we could have made other plans for the piano or hired someone else. Instead we were reassured that it would not be a problem. It was a problem and Pro Piano could not help us come up with a solution. Instead they gave us two choices: move the piano into my upstairs or move it back to my neighbors house (and it would cost more to move it back). So now the piano is upstairs and I have to find (and pay) another piano mover to move it downstairs. The Pro Piano movers seemed rushed and were not at all apologetic about the fact that they did not do what they were hired to. I would not recommend them.
They arrived exactly when they said they would both times. Helge even noticed a little nick on one leg and did some touch up on it.
They made us feel very well taken care of and confident in their abilities with our beloved instrument. I couldn't have been more pleased.
These guys showed up on time and really knew what they were doing. They tipped the piano on its side onto a furniture dolly, used a ramp to get it from the porch to the walkway, and used another ramp to get it down the six steps to the street. Still on the dolly, they took it up the ramp and set it upright in the truck, where they secured it to the wall.
There were three guys, which you really need for those steep front steps. They were quick, skillful, and personable, and everything went as well as I could have hoped. I'm very pleased.
Pro Piano Movers was recommended by another moving company because the item we wanted moved was a piano, not a houseful of furniture.
I called Helge Eriksen who quoted a price based on two men @ $120/hour. We set a pickup date for Friday, May 13 and delivery was to be made the following day. Helge and his assistant arrived Friday afternoon and worked very quickly in order to meet our schedule.
The two men were experienced, strong, fast, careful, and upbeat even while moving a heavy piano. We are very happy to have found a new home for the piano and appreciate the hardworking professionalism of Pro Piano Movers.
