Mike Freund General Contractor

We've been working with Mike for several years now, and would highly recommend his services. He has always expressed a rational and detailed approach to design decisions, communicates very well, very punctual, and does exactly what is agreed. We've been very impressed with his woodworking skills. Our first project with him was the installation of a very large and heavy window, and I believe we reviewed this work here, but we've continued to work with Mike, and so thought we'd update our positive review.

Great! Mike was professional and proved great quality work. He got the whole job done in one day even though the areas were hard to reach. We asked that it not be painted because we were planning on painting the whole house later in the summer. Mike made sure everything was primed and ready to be painted, but matched the base close to the original color.

Although I had more affordable options, I chose to work with Mike based on his overall positive reviews on Angie's list; his good responsiveness to my initial call for an estimate and excellent responsiveness to subsequent clarification communications; the professionalism of his evaluation of the scope of work and communication of both known scope and potential unforeseen conditions; and his willingness and ability to add my project into his already busy schedule within a timeline that worked for my overall needs.
He was punctual in arriving to perform the work on the agreed date, and completed the scope within one day as estimated. What I can see of the work appears professional and of good quality - including minimal disruption to the exterior siding and salvage of the cedar shingles that were displaced.
Mike was one of the best communicators in his profession (at least of those whom I've worked with), and I very much appreciated his responsiveness and clarity during the process of confirming scope; agreeing on pricing; and finalizing a schedule. I originally asked Mike to also provide pricing for drywall installation in the garage, but in reviewing his already busy schedule, he was honest and up front about not being able to complete those services within my preferred timelines, which I very much appreciate.

Mike and Jeanette did a fantastic job on our front portico.  From the first call, Mike was responsive and professional.  His bid was not the cheapest, but was the most comprehensive and we wouldn't go anywhere else for additional work.  Mike came up with the new design - which fit perfectly with the house - even to the last detail, which would have escaped me if he had not mentioned it.  The work was done quickly and well. High marks all around.  Thank you.

For the amount of time and cost of materials spent on the job I found the charge very steep and the results not very impressive, however it's not something I could have done better myself so it's hard to be critical.  He did leave a clean and tidy work site.

His work was excellent. Mike is knowledgeable, communicative and sensitive to completing a project in our home. We appreciated his attention to detail and the careful manner in which he worked and managed his crew. Very professional, and we look forward to working him him again. Highly recommend.

Working with Mike was great - he was really professional, punctual, easy to be around and communicative about the work schedule. He did a great job of giving me advice that made my ideas better integrate with the style of the house. But he didn't force his ideas on me either. The products came out better than I imagined though - way better than they would have without him. And he gave me good estimates beforehand and they were accurate! Can't recommend him enough.

Excellent.  We have been working with Mike for a couple of years now and he is excellent to work with.  He is always timely responding to my e-mails for help and is able to complete projects in a timely and efficient manner.  We feel extremely comfortable having him around our house working on projects.  He has helped us with inside and outside work.  His projects have included fixing our leaking problem in the basement to painting my kids' rooms with stencils.

Mike has done numerous jobs for us over the past two years and two houses. He is responsive, neat, trustworthy and an easy person to have working in your home.
He installed several custom windows we purchased at Home Depot, including installing and finishing new trim. He demo'd the ancient cabinets in our kitchen and installed the new cabinets and butcherboard countertops. Our previous house had poorly installed bumpy and stained drywall in the basement complete with holes cut in the ceiling. Mike was able to rehabilitate the walls and ceiling to an amazing degree, and at quite a cost savings over new drywall. Our most recent job was to install a new window in our baby's room shortly before his due date. The old window was single pane and did not seal properly. Mike was able to schedule the job quickly and get the window properly installed with new wood trim and installed and finished in plenty of time to get the rest of the room ready. He is very neat and left the area free of sawdust. He also took pains to ensure that the newly finished wood trim would not off-gas into the baby's room. 
Mike also installed a new handrail on our stairs that didn't have one. He gave me various wood, trim and shape choices, more than I knew existed for a handrail! I ended up telling him to choose, which he did, and it looks great. The stairway landing had a safety rail/grid at the top, which had large spaces between the bars. Mike installed extra bars for safety (all of this in anticipation of future toddler) and they blend perfectly with the old ones so that you cannot tell any work was done.  
Finally, we had an extra doorway from my husband's closet to the hallway. We wanted to eliminate the doorway for a solid wall. The walls are lathe & plaster with beadboard. Mike was able to "fill" in the doorway, install new beadboard, and repaint the wall, again so that you cannot tell any work was done. 
We have been very pleased with all of his work, and would not hesitate to call Mike again for any job large or small.

I arranged with Mike in advance to have him cut the pickets and spacers prior to him arriving on site.  He was very flexible in getting this done for me.  Our agreement was that he be paid by the hour because the effort to complete the various projects was impossible to forecast.  I did not ask for a written bid.  When all the work was done, I felt the cost was well worth the work I received in exchange.
The on site work required 2 days.  Mike arrived promptly both days.    While performing work for me, Mike worked very efficiently and frequently exerted himself, especially going up and down the ladder.  I was very pleased with the quality and quantity of work I received.  I did assist Mike in some of the tasks and found him very easy and pleasant to work with.  I am pretty particular about quality, but was very satisfied with the Mike's workmanship. I have no complaints about any aspects of the various projects.  I plan to use him on future projects.
