Too well for words. We spent more than $60K on these projects (they were big!). So trust-worthy, so skilled, just fails me for words. Professional, thorough, kind, detail-oriented, thoughtful problem-solving, transparency at all stages, responsible, dedicated, and accountable. Helped us make proper decisions for our goals and budget. Just wow. Not related to Dick, but wish I were : )
Description of Work: New deck (two-tier), new dock, refinish cabinets, built a large storage room built under our stairs (interior).

My island cooktop had a downdraft ventilation system that did a poor job at removing smoke, steam, and odors, so I decided to install a ceiling-mount overhead hood. I knew that the project was going to be a bit of a challenge with a bedroom being right above the kitchen. Off the three companies that gave me estimates, LNR Construction was the one that provided the simplest solution that made the most sense. The other two wanted to rip apart my kitchen and charge me an arm and a leg for it. Naturally, I chose LNR Construction. It's a good thing I did as it turned out to be the most positive experience I've had working with contractors. The job description on the estimate was clear. Communication was great. I coordinated primarily with Dick, owner and operator of LNR Construction. On the day of the installation, we discovered additional challenges. Dick approached it with a positive can-do attitude. Because the project involved cutting a floor beam, my husband and I were a bit nervous and kept close watch on the progress. Both my husband and I are engineers, needless to say, we know a thing or two about what is considered structurally sound and what isn't. The installation turned out great. We are please with the way it was done. Dick was very courteous and friendly. He worked hard to make sure that things get done right. I can tell that he loves what he does. I'd definitely use him again for my future home improvement projects.
Description of Work: Installed kitchen ventilation ducting and ceiling-mount island range hood.

At the suggestion of our architect, we invited Dick Traub the owner and sole employee of LNR Construction to join us and our architect to discuss the final design of the additions to our garage front. We were immediately impressed with his suggestions on ways to accomplish our proposed design and his willingness to work with the architect on how various approaches could be accomplished. We felt that he worked hard to understand our desires and the architect's design concept. He made several suggestions that provided meaningful cost savings to the project. What started our as a contractor interview ended with a contract. We knew he was the right person for the job. Our confidence in him was rewarded. Dick agreed to a fixed price contract with a specific time schedule, both of which he honored. He was nearly always on time for the job but let us know the one time when he was unavoidably delayed through no fault of his own. His work was meticulous and of the highest profession quality. Indeed, he was more a craftsman than a contractor on this job. The care and precision with which he matched joints was masterful and there were a lot of them. He used the inside of the garage and driveway for work area. At the end of each day, he cleaned up and left the area more ship shape than it had ever been. He finished the job on time and within his bid with no unexpected additional cost. As with another reviewer, we feel this is the sort of resource that is a treasure to have access to if you are a home owner. I don't believe that it can get any better than that. But one caveat. Dick is an really interesting and an engaging person. I found myself, on occasion, in long conversations with him which, perhaps, we should have saved for the end of the day. :)
Description of Work: Added a full trellis and bin storage area to our street facing two car garage which required removing an old retaining wall and minor regrading. In addition, added trim to the single plain garage door to achieve an attractive design. He also painted all of the garage front including the new trellis and and trim.

As an Architect, I am very picky about people who work for me and in whom I put my trust. It is very important to me to have someone who and quot;getsand quot; my priorities for design and finishing. Dick is one such contractor. Beyond using him for my own projects, I have recommended him to several past and current clients because of this ability. He also has such a positive attitude. This creates a very attractive package for those needing a quality contractor. The only downside is that he is only one person and cannot take on multiple jobs. For that reason, one should seek him out early in the design process and retain his services to ensure his availability. I highly recommend Dick Trueb and LNR Construction. You can have him after he is done with my place! ;)
Description of Work: Dick Trueb has done a variety of small construction jobs for me over the course of many years. This has ranged from framing to drywall.
