The electric company we always use is Blue Ribbon. Their price was excellent. They were the low bidder, plus while they were doing the work they had to get somebody small enough to get underneath the house at some point They were going to have to hire someone to do it, and my tenant is a pretty small guy, and said I'll do it for you. He crawled under there and got the cable run for them and they even paid him for it. I would use them again. They were honest. They kept me, as a remote owner, they kept me in the loop. They made sure I knew exactly what was going on and any changes or problems or additions, all that came through me like I like. They didn't just take the word of my property manager, they came to me, which is how I told them in the beginning I wanted to run that job. I had no problem with them at all.

Marty, Chris and Andy are always punctual, pleasant and have great senses of humor. They are respectful of me and my home. Always professional, they explain everything thoroughly, and when appropriate, go over different options and solutions. I won't hire anyone else for my electrical work.

In the process of installing a junction box for a stairway light, the Blue Ribbon Electric team discovered improper wiring to the location in the stairway. The installed the junction box and installed the wiring to the box to current code requirements. They were diligent and thorough in performing the work, and keeping me informed of any issues or problems.

GFCI tripped while dishwasher was in rinse cycle and wouldn't reset. There were several outlets controlled by the GFCI. I called Marty in the morning. He came that afternoon, determined the problem and disconnected the problem appliance and reset the GFCI. I bought a new dishwasher. Marty and Doug picked it up at Lowe's, took the old one out, corrected the hook up, installed the new one, tested it, cleaned up the debris, and hauled the old one away. Marty also made a trip to Home Depot only to discover that the model I had picked that was "in stock" was actually "special order".

Marty Hodge answered his phone on a Friday afternoon and within a few hours was at my residence to give an estimate. Had I been available the next day (a Saturday) the work would have been completed. He returned promptly on Monday at our prearranged time and completed the work in a timely manner. He was efficient and cleaned up the work site, including the old light fixtures and boxes from the new fixtures.

My husband had installed the electrical for most of our redmodel. He ran into some issues. Marty Hodge, the owner was very responsive. He was able to come out that day. He knew exactly what the issue was. He was very timely. He was very knowledgeable about the smallest to vey complex electrical issues.

Marty & his partner Doug promptly started the electrical work on Friday, and returned Monday, & Tuesday to finish. Due to the fact our house is 32 yrs old, we needed to add some things not on the original bid that were safety features, we decided we wanted this house up to code & safety. We found Marty to be very safety conscience, and when he was here, we added some other things not on the original bid that were definite safety hazards. In total we got a safer fixture support box & proper wiring to our casablanca fan in our Rec Rm. 2 laundry GFI, Main service, 3 garage wall GFI, proper garage door opener outlets, 3 Kitchen GFI, 3 exterior GFI, 3 dome coverplate, 2 electronic ballasts with t8 lamps, 1 basement receptacle replaced, 1 kitchen GFI & micro, 1 laundry florescent labor on ballast, 3 dining receptacles replaced, 1 refrigerator receptacle, 2 switches replaced at kit sink, 2 hr repair of shower light & switching, 1 shower fixture, trip, lamp, 1 switch, GFI device, box, coverplate mat, 1 laundry flourescent ballast & lamps. All work was inspected & approved, Both Marty & Doug have many years electrical experience, proper licensing, and everything current with the State of Washington. BE SURE THAT YOU HIRE ONLY A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN, DO NOT HIRE ANY ONE WITHOUT CHECKING WITH THE STATE OF WASHINGTON TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE HIRING A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN. CAVEAT: I FOUND THAT NOT EVERYONE IS LICENSED EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE ON ANGIE'S LIST. DO NOT HIRE A HANDYMAN/FIXIT MAN TO DO YOUR ELECTRICAL OR PLUMBING!! Make sure they are LICENSED, BONDED, & INSURED WITH THE STATE. I would not hesitate to call Blue Ribbon Electric, which is Martin Hodge. Nor would I hesitate to refer my family, friends, and Angie's list subscribers to this company. Marty has been a licensed electrician since 1980 in Washington! Check his credentials with the state.

We did a general safety upgrade with new main breaker type circuit panel, and GFI(Ground Fault Interrupter) receptacles, and some duplex receptacle replacements. We used the Type TR(Tamper Resistant) replacement devices. This home is now safer for children and adults too. Thank You, Marty Hodge."

Blue Ribbon s was the second highest among my 5 competitive bids. They paid superb attention to detail and were immaculately clean. During a 3-month period, they showed up on time each day and didn t miss even 1 day. I have never had such a good experience with other contractors. They were slightly more expensive unlike others. In return for that they picked up all of their material, vacuumed up everything, and took it away each day. They were clever engineers who did a stupendous job of cutting the wall, getting fixtures out, fixing them in, getting the wall done again, and then painting it with its matching color. I have given recommendations to 2 neighbors about Blue Ribbon.

"They are wonderful nice folks, and it is a pleasure knowing them. The work performed, resulting in the $36K+ cost was including carpentry and painting and other repairs along with wiring in every area of the home to current codes. I offered my services to utilize my extensive 35 years background in the construction trade, and we repaired their home for some defects which they had been living with for many years. Their project had us working for several months, and their home now has some convenient features which they had not previously been able to achieve. We corrected some deficiencies from a previous remodel. Some of the individual projects were quoted in advance and the work was performed for a set price with mutual agreement. Some of the work was performed on a time and materials basis with regular updates to keep current on the billing and control budget requirements.
