BEWARE OF DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES!! We called SEAL to do a small job (estimated by another plumber to be less than an hour). While Luis seemed fine at first, when we asked him if he wanted to sign a contract, he told us that word would get around about us if we didn't pay him. The work itself was fine. The thing Luis didn't tell us is that he has a nearly $1,000 flat fee. We were shocked when we got the bill! We researched average pay for the job and paid Luis a fair amount that included travel time, average retail cost for materials plus a 15% markup, and rounding up the time he was here. My husband tried to talk to Luis about reasonable costs for the job and Luis threatened us again. We're not sure if he made good on his threat, but it seems unfair that he charges us a usurious amount without warning us upfront, then threatens to slander us and send us to collections when we won't pay him that amount. Customers deserve the right to know if there is a flat fee before hiring a contractor.
