Rich and The Shocker team fabricate custom steel to my exact specifications.  The cost is reasonable and the turn around time is always as agreed upon at the time of contract.  He is always responsive to my communications, whether it's phone, text, or email. Rich is also a creative problem solver when I throw a difficult project at him, all the while keeping me involved in the process.  I have used The Shocker for interior and exterior projects, from powder coated gates to architectural brackets and more.  I recommend The Shocker and will continue to use them for my steel fabrication needs.

I had a side car made for my electric wheelchair for my son to ride in when he was a baby. He used it until he almost couldn?t fit in it; he loved it and he called it the Mommy RideJ Two years ago. I surprised my son and had a bigger seat put on for him? My best friend is having a baby now, so it was time to put the baby seat back on.

This time around I did a search for welding and The Shocker Metal Shop caught my eye. I emailed them and they got right back to me. They didn?t sound hesitant regarding helping me, like most businesses usually do about helping with an unique job. They said I could come the following morning. They took a look at it and said, that is not fair, you shouldn?t be limited to one size of seat. (I didn?t even think of having the ability to swap the seats) Needless to say, I loved their idea and they made it happen! To change the seats is really easy and takes about two seconds to do; I love it and am really thankful I came across these guys! My son is pretty happy too! When I went to pick it up, the next morning, I was ready to pay but they said it was on them! They are awesome; I will be a customer for a lifetime and I highly recommend The Shocker Metal Shop to everyone. I give them 105 stars!

(Next job I am paying for!)

We asked for an initial bid for the project, which came in far too high for our project. Mr Tignor reworked the bid to an acceptable amount and we accepted. We paid for materials in mid March, and then heard nothing for almost three months, despite numerous calls from us and the general contractor. When he finally contacted us, he wanted to work inside the home - with an acetylene torch - we said no. He countered with a $1500 fee for fabricating at his shop and transport (1.5 miles away). We settled for his using our garage. With other delays, he finally installed the railings in July. The railing itself is well done, however the weld joints are rather bulky. We paid the final invoice at completion on the work and installation. Two weeks later, Mr Tignor presented us another invoice with an additional $300. He also said that some straps and ramps were taken from his trailer by the contractor's crew. We referred him to our general contractor. Efforts to settle his extra charges have been lengthy and hostile. Two weeks ago, Mr Tignor unbolted the exterior railing and removed it. In addition, the telescoping scaffolding that was next to the exterior railing was also taken. Despite calls from us, the general contractor, and a visit from the King County Sheriff, he has not returned the railing. He is not returning phone calls. We currently are initiating legal action to get the railing returned and reinstalled.

"Sadly, 99% of this is untrue. too bad this wasn't seen until now, 6 years later. These poeple (their contractor) we're very hard to work with throughout the whole process. They received a fair bid, and accepted, all terms put forth. Any additional expenses were extras they added on. We used the garage because it was the only door you could get the railings into the house from (walls were not complete). We did not request final payment until the railings were installed and the customer was happy. The railings are beautiful (you can see then on our website) and the customer "supposedly" was happy. Some of our tools were stolen by the their contractor, while we were on site. THE ONLY TRUTH: The sheriff did come after we removed the railings and "our" scaffolding from the property for non-payment. He agreed with our ethics and let us be, but advised us to return the railings. The railings were returned and installed. The bill was never paid in full! Throughout the whole job it was like pulling teeth to get any payment for material so we could start the project, the contractor was near impossible to get ahold of (why it took so long), he constantly flaked out and gave us "bad checks" from the homeowners, costing delays. We never dealt with the homeowners directly. We heard they sued their contractor, that obviously was doing a poor job of communication between the sub contractors (us) and the home owner, and running the books. Moral of the story is: don't expect anything for free, you should always tell the truth :) and pay your bill!"
