We purchased a home with a daylight basement, on a poured slab in 2000. 30 days after moving in, we discovered that the master shower did not have a p-trap which resulted in awful and hazardous septic gases coming up through the drain and in to our home. After many phone calls and complaints, our only avenue was to foot the bill for a remodel since we purchased the home "as-is" because it was a bank repossession. Since the house was on a slab, we had to do a complete demolition of the shower and jack-hammering out the concrete. My husband and I were able to do this work, but found that we needed to hire someone to complete the remodel for us. Steve, with Whitney construction came and did an estimate that was inline with three others we had, but he was more professional and knowledgeable then the other contractors. He and one other gentlemen did the job on time and on budget as mentioned previously in they fixed the plumbing and drain so it was up to code, moved the shower spicket around to the other wall for easier access in the future, re-poured concrete including re-bar re-enforcement, tiled the floor and surround, refinished and installed a beautiful claw foot tub and also created a new entryway from an adjacent closet. They were pleasant, clean cut and completely professional. I would hire them again in a heart beat.
