Once we made our decision they were able to schedule a crew as early as the next day. The crew showed up right on time, introduced themselves and got strait to work. Again they were courteous, thorough and professional. They explained everything and took about a million measurement with their level to make sure everything was just right. I would highly recommend Robbins & Co.
My house was built in 1980 and has a concrete slab for the first floor rather then wood construction. The slab itself has slowly been sinking to varying degrees since it was built in 1980, the foundation is not the problem and has remained in its original position. The problem I believe is that the builder did not compact the soil inside of the foundation adequately prior to pouring the slab. About 3/4 of the slab on the 1st floor had sunk, creating a slope anywhere from 4-8 inches depending on the room of the house. Robbins was able to raise the slab back to its original height. The floors are level for the first time since I bought it in 1985. They did a series of drillings in the living room, kitchen, bath, laundry and garage. All of these rooms had noticeable sinking. Robbins was able to fill the voids under the concrete and literally lift the floor back to its original height. Watching the process was amazing. Robbins team worked fast and efficiently through the process.
Additionally, there was a slab that had cracked and broke into 3 pieces on the porch and walkway attached to the front of the house. The porch/walkway had been done on one concrete pour originally. At the corner of the porch is where the breaks were. Robbins installed 2 pins to raise the corner up about 8 inches. This had to be done because the slab on that part of the porch was above the grade of the soil, so there hadn't been adequate support there from original construction. The remainder of the porch had sunk similar like the inside of the home and was able to be slabjacked. The porch now is level. Doing this has also corrected the roofline of the porch itself and has increased the street appeal. Now when looking at the home you don't see broken down old home with a broken porch, you actually notice the house.
Robbins and Co., along with their team of workers did a fantastic job.
"Thank you for the wonderful review. We are very pleased that you are happy with your project as that is what we strive for. Char"
Robbins and Co came out and did the work as planned, on time, exactly at their bid, and all of the expectations that they communicated throughout the process were accurate. I am always a little concerned about using contractors, but these guys acted professionally throughout and at no time did they say anything that was inaccurate. The end result was better than I expected and I would absolutely recommend Robbins and Co.
Started off with an estimate that was open and transparent.
They took care of submitting the paper work and engineering with the city.
At the installation they took great care to make sure that there was no internal damage to the house as they installed the piers. Very fast, they were able to get 7 piers installed in a day and a half. Everything was done as described in the prelim work.
Highly recommended.
They came out on Friday morning and got started. My husband was home and was very impressed with their work. It turned out to be a bit more than they had anticipated (the patio ended up being thick) and they had to come back on Tuesday morning to finish putting the brackets on and raise the patio back up to it's original height. They left caution tape around the holes to make sure no one would fall or get hurt until they could return.
After lifting the patio, they caulked the crack that had fallen. Many of the smaller cracks got pushed tightly together when the patio was raised back to it's original position. They cleaned everything up after they finished and swept off the patio for us.
It looks great and we feel relieved to know that it's stable and we don't have to worry about the roof sagging and pulling apart, the patio cracking further, or the water in the gutters running the wrong way.
We are very happy with the results, the work crew, the estimator, the office staff etc. Everyone was very professional. The bill was exactly what the original estimate quoted.
The people from Robbins were extremely helpful, professional and timely. I would use them again!
