They came out to assess the issue in June and they said “good news! It’s under warrantee!” So we had them proceed. They had to order the parts and run a system test which they said would take a couple of weeks. Fast forward, they didn’t come back until we called them multiple times and didn’t finish the job until late September. Then....3 months later they sent us a bill for over $1800 for parts and labor! They never said that there were going to be any charges, nor did they give us an estimate. So we called and Shauntel said they would “research and get back to us”. Multiple calls and emails later and they keep saying they would “research and get back to us”, but never got back to us. Just received a threatening email to pay now due to the bill being over 90 days. We will never do business with them again! They installed this unit less than 5 years ago at a cost of over $20k.

There's always room for improvement. They were quick to reply. The billing could have been more accurate, but they took care of it.

Excellent company, though not the cheapest. Derek spotted a technical problem with the way the chimney was vented that none of the other three contractors who looked at it noticed- and it WAS a safety issue. We did the project in two stages, and I was very impressed with the professionalism and high standards of his techs- one guy took great pains to get the vent pipe straight despite the limitations of the space available- he told me with a shudder that if he had installed the vents as crookedly on those on a neighbor's house, he would have come back on the weekend to fix it on his own time. It was clear that he was proud of doing things right. The ducting to the area in the addition had to go through a very tight crawl space, then through an exceptionally thick set of timbers- they had to change plans and come back with a concrete drilling apparatus (sorry, can't think what it's called). Cost a little extra, but got the job done. The house is warm and toasty now, and Code Mechanical was well worth the extra money.

They replaced my leaking water heater 50 Gal Model #XE50M06ST45U1, good job so far. Then they charged me $440 for labor, $925 for the machine where it only costs $335 in home depot. I asked them if that's a mistake, they changed it to $599. But It's still way too high so I asked them the receipt, through phone, emails, messages, but they did not give to me. Now they are telling me from $335 to $599 is their markup, I don't agree this kind of markup. Since they have asked a lawyer to handle this, I called Angie's List, this is the step I have to do for them to get involved.

After getting a quote from another heat/ac company, we decided that something was bothering us but we didn't know what - and it wasn't the price. So, we Darek at Code Mechanical and met with him. It was clear within the first 5 minutes of our meeting with Darek what was missing from the other consultation - Knowledge. We knew almost instantly that he was a professional who knew his trade like the back of his hand. It seemed as though he was answering the questions before I asked them. I tend to want the facts and just facts, no fluff. And he did just that, no hard sell, no fluff. Darek was early to his consultation appointment, got the quote to me very quickly (which was $1000 less than the other guy), his installation crew arrived early, and Darek followed up afterwards. When the outdoor thermostat went out, he promptly ordered a new one and sent his guy out to install it, no questions asked, no service fee.

I recently recommended Darek to my neighbor who also used him and he was equally impressed. And I will recommend him again.

After having some other projects with other contractors go so badly, it was a breath of fresh air to have this go so smoothly.

If you're reading this Darek, I'm sorry it took me so long to post this review.

I could not ask for better service.
The service tech's crawled underneath to analyze the problem and come up with a solution.

They took care of it quickly and affordably.
If you live in the Enumclaw / Buckley / Bonney Lake area you would be well served to call Derek @ Code Mechanical for your HVAC problems.

Derek showed up on time as promised and checked out the house as promised. He e-mailed us his quote by the next day. We had others to come in and give us written estimates as well. There were others who gave us lower bids but we chose Derek because we felt that the installation that he described was the most appropriate. His price was also reasonable. It wasn't the lowest, it was the second lowest price quote.Once we informed his that we had chosen him to install the heat pump for our home, he showed up at the appointed time and started working with his team. They took just a day and a half to complete the work. No cost overruns and no mess. The work was done professionally and inspected and approved a week later.Overall, we are satisfied with his performance and professionalism. We would use him again if we need heating and A/C work done.

We did a great deal of research on replacing our 25 yr old Coleman heat pump. We reviewed most of the top brands and got bids from several contractors. We decided to purchase the new 18 Seer Coleman because its the most energy efficient with a HSPF of 10 (3 ton) and believe it is of great quality, with the features we wanted. Since a major key in the heat pumps function is the installation, we wanted to find a smaller contractor that was very knowledgeable and competent and would be actually doing the job himself. Derek, from Code Mechanical, was referred to us and we are so happy we found him. Not only was he professional, efficient, very smart and friendly, but his price was by far the best we had seen, savings us thousands even on the same model. (One Seattle top rated company was almost double his price!) He is very reasonable, not overselling or trying to charge for small extras that other company ding you with. He has many years of experience with heating/ac installation through a top Seattle contractor and now seems to be running his own company very well. If you need a highly efficient heat pump to save energy costs and want a great contractor and a great price I would highly recommend Derek at Code Mechanical. He did an excellent job for us.
