We contacted Patti about a remodel project. We wanted a larger master bedroom and bath. Our ranch style home left us with some pretty limited options. Patti contacted us promptly and we made an appointment for her to view our home. She arrived at the scheduled time and we provided an overview of what we wanted. Patti suggested we hire Jim Wise of Wiseowl Home Plans. We set an appointment for Jim and Patti to return and measure the home to build a computer model. Patti and Jim then worked together to produce 3 different versions of floor plans for us. They did a wonderful job of providing us with some comprehensive options. This was just the planning stage. I look forward to working with these professionals as we move forward with the construction phase.

Within two weeks we realized that our communication styles were not compatible. She is a very outgoing extrovert which I liked at first because it seemed like the process could be fun. We met some of her subs and were very impressed. However, we needed to see things in writing and it became clear that Patty was not understanding what we wanted for the remodel. She responded to emails like a verbal conversation. We needed responses presented in a clear and organized manner and was frustrated with the process. After a lot of angst, we decided to end the relationship after two weeks. We had no idea that she charged $200/hour for her consulting fee so she gave us a partial refund and retained the above cost of service. There were no written plans or anything of value that we received from working with Walls too Windows except the hard learned lesson to be sure of having things detailed in writing the next time. Fortunately, we did hire an excellent remodeler six months later and now have a wonderful kitchen!

"It is unfortunate, but on very rare occasions an unusual client will filter through. I have been in business for nearly 28 years and have a stellar reputation with my clients and industry professionals. You can see reviews and completed jobs on Houzz.com and my website. www.wallstoowindows.com. I have won show homes and tour home shows and work as the "Ask a Designer" for Miller Paint on !st Saturdays.. This client stated they had gone through 7 other contractors. I should have tuned into that better. Client was provided with all written contract information (which they signed) and had met with me at other job sites and had interviewed past clients. After I had spent a number of hours on this design process including design drawings and research, the client decided to not go through with the remodel, which she also stated she had done to another contractor in the past. The contract clearly states that if the contract is cancelled the deisgner is compensated for the time involved to date. This client threatened to "trash" me on social media if I did not refund the full amount. I guess this is it."

Before having the interior of my home painted I decided to hire a decorator to give me some tips on what colors would work best in my home. Patty's name was given to me by the person who will be doing the painting and after reading her bio and reviews on Angie's List I gave her a call. She was able to come out to my home within a few days and brought lots of color samples with her. I walked her through the house, room by room and she made suggestions and listen to my feedback. She found colors that blended beautifully with existing dand eacute;cor and I am very happy overall with the choices. I will likely contact her again in the future as I continue updating my home.

I've been working with Interior Designer Patti Marvitz of Walls too Windows out of Brush Prairie WA over the past year to redo and update my house interior after 19 years. I found Patti's card at the local Miller Paint store as the "ask a designer" consultant on NE 164th Avenue in Vancouver. I called her and made an appointment. After discussing my design style preferences and what I envisioned, we each agreed that the design had to be simple and clean. My backyard has an asian flavor and Patti suggested that the inside design had to marry the outside design. She has designed an oasis inside the house that has a very simple asian flavor, with uncluttered and clean lines. We worked our way through each room so the house has a coordinated design style. Her subcontractors are very nice and provide excellent workmanship. Patti has a sense of humor, enjoys her work, clients and subcontractors, is very professional, is proactive and keeps things moving, and is very organized in her paper work, orders and scheduling. She is very responsive to e-mails and phone calls. She offers 2 - 3 choices to choose from for finish selections, asks for the client's input and encourages the client to participate in the decision making. She provides honest feedback and expertise. I now enjoy my beautiful home.

Patti was very prompt in our intitial inquiry and was very flexiable to meet with us. She came well prepared with full color samples and offered excellent ideas. She took the time to understand our position, but offered guidance to explore some new direction. We are very pleased with the outcome. She also provided an excellent referral for a painter that perfomed well above expectations.
