Floor looks beautiful, but they stopped part way through the job due to “lack of employees available.” They knew they had this job for a month AND they knew that it was a timely matter due to working with other contractors involved. I would NEVER hire them again. Never.

We first went to Prewitt with a plan to install hardwood floors right after buying our house. We were booked with them for a time we’d be out of town, but our old house hadn’t sold and it turned out we needed to replace a roof there. We had to cancel on them right when they were ready to deliver our wood! We felt horrible but with their extremely gracious and professional response to our dilemma we knew we’d come back to them when we were ready. About a year later we sold our old house and contacted them to get the ball rolling again. When they did, they were very accommodating to many of our concerns regarding the turnout with wood species and stain choice, and the result is incredibly beautiful. They showed true craftsmanship in their finishing touches, and we are still blown away with how beautifully it turned out. The crew for our floors was extremely friendly and they were very pleasant to have in our home while they worked on demolition and installation. A great family business we highly recommend! They were recommmended to us from our neighbors and we are so glad we took their recommendation.

They were okay at first, but then they were not very timely in getting back to me. We ended up not using her because she could not come on the week she was available because my project got set back. She was very receptive at first, but it took her a while to get back to me because she was too busy. When she finally did there were issues about the time line. She was very good about answering questions related to the quote.

He is excellent and does quality work. If you're wanting to put in hardwood flooring you should use him. His job seems more like a passion than it does a job. He is also reasonably price and does beautiful work. He seems like he is genuinely a great person.

We were looking to refinish the floor of our 25 year old oak foyer when we met Prewitt Hardwood at the Portland Home and Garden Expo. We were impressed with their knowledge, friendly demeanor, and "dust free" sanding process and called them for a quote. The price quoted was in the ballpark of what we had previously been quoted so we arranged a time for them to refinish the floor. The initial quote was for sanding/stripping the prior finish, two coats of sealer, and two coats of finish. At the start of the job however, it was quickly determined that our floor had a a prefinish process done that would have inhibited the adhesion of traditional sealers and a Swedish finish was the recommended finish for our floor. Three coats of this finish were applied. As this was the foyer of a two story, open area, we were concerned with dust invading the entire house. At the start of the job, the two doorways leading into the foyer, exposed stair railings, and the upper landing were covered with plastic and taped off. The amount of dust created by sanding - while using the dust extraction devices from Bona that Prewitt uses was negligible! A light dusting, if any was found on surfaces in the area where they were working, but hard to detect any other dust throughout the rest of the house. More of an issue than dust was the smell of the Swedish finish used. We were thankful for mild weather and 50+ degree dry days while work was completed, as all of the windows needed to be opened to air out the house. The smell dissipated within 3-4 hours. The work progressed quickly and efficiently and now, three days after work started, our floor is finished and looks great! We are thrilled with the outcome. Overall, I am very thankful for the low-mess, high quality outcome of the floors. We would definitely use Prewitt again in the future, if the need arose.

OUR FAMILY LEFT OUR HOME FOR THE WEEK THAT THE FLOORS WERE DONE. WE HAD TAPED OFF CABINETS AND MOVED THE FURNITURE TO THE GARAGE. WHEN WE CAME HOME OUR FLOORS WERE IN BRAND NEW CONDITION AND THE DUST WAS NOT TOO BAD. THIS COMPANY WAS EASY TO DO BUSINESS WITH.
