Work started on my kitchen approximately Oct 2011. This work was 100% completed in about a 10 month timeframe as I was making payments to Kitsap Quality Counter. Once the installation of the cabinets started, I thought it was looking really good until my neighbor pointed out to me how some were not hung up straight, a few were hung crooked. That it was "crappy" worksmanship and I was crazy to accept it. The closer I looked the more I realized that a lot of the cabinet doors were not hung straight and a couple of the cupboards were not mounted straight. I feel that the quality of the workmanship could have been better~I was not expecting perfection, but I did expect a better product "as a whole" than what I ended up with. Upon a closer look, I also noticed there was sealant spackle on some of the cupboard doors that shouldn't have been there. It can not be taken off (as it will leave a chip in the surface). It has been a year plus now since the installation has been complete and some of the cabinets have paint cracking along the joints. The biggest thing that bothers me is that I wish I would have been told up front that in choosing white, the cupboards might not be all "white"...some are white, some are distinctively off white/discolored. Bottom line-they don't look the same. When I pointed this out to John (when he came for the final inspection-which took 3 tries before he finally stopped by), he mentioned that it could be the "lighting" that made them look that way. He made it very clear that he was irritated with the fact that my neighbors were telling me what crappy work this business had done. There was an amount of rework. There were (2) corner cabinets that were suppose to have a glass front. They did not. They had to come back and install. There was suppose to be (2) rollout shelves in the bigger cabinets, there was not. They had to come back and install. I also believe I was suppose to receive a grid for the kitchen sink, I did not. I also had a cabinet installed in the corner of my livingroom. The cabinet is expresso maple in color and beautiful. I recently noticed that when they installed the handles, the holes were made too low and they were redrilled. You can only see this when you look from the side/or underneath the handle. The original holes drilled were filled in so you can not see it if looking straight down on it. This was not pointed out to me when completed, I only noticed it when I was sitting on the floor. When I saw this, I felt sick to my stomach. If that isn't shoddy worksmanship, I don't know what is. I can't believe that they would think this was OK. For the ceiling lift and plumbing work, those were separate and additional costs. The ceiling lift was $1998.24 and the plumber work was approximately $300 (not included in my approx. cost). So it all cost me $20,000. In the end I don't think the product/work was worth it. I should have gotten a few more estimates and looked for reviews on Angie's List before I had this work done. A year has gone by since the work was completed and everytime I walk into my kitchen I am reminded about my $20,000 disappointment. I decided to join Angie's List and tell you about my experience with Kitsap Quality Counter because I don't want anyone else to pay all that money and be disappointed in the end. Overall, it is a huge improvement from what it was before~but again, my regret is not demanding perfection. All I see now is imperfection. The last thing I want to point out is that I didn't check where the cabinets were made. It turns out they were made in China. Shame on me. Thats the biggest reason I gave the quality of the product a D.
Description of Work: Hired a contractor to tear out of existing kitchen cabinets, replace with new kitchen cabinets (White Shaker) with granite countertops. Also had 3" crown molding installed. Tear out of dropped ceiling~raised 8". Also, had a livingroom cabinet installed.
