Kitsap Brothers Painting

Cost was in the same range with other bids. Ended with a beautiful job with which we're pleased. Opted for Kitsap Brothers because of Alex's pledge to be especially attentive to the prep (caulking, etc.).

The job is terrible! The siding now is mottled, with dark and light spots, drips, and missing sections. According to the contract and the requirements for application (Sherwin Williams) of stain on siding the wood should be washed and brighten-which you completed. This was to be followed by complete sanding of the surface- which you did not do. You also were contracted to back brush after spraying or rolling the stain -which you also did not do. In talking and showing photos of the job, the paint store professionals(Sherwin Williams), they told me that this could repaired by sanding the siding smooth and applying a second coat with back brushing. We no have to schedule and pay a second painter to repair the damage done by Kitsap Brothers Painting.

All went well we called Alex last Sept and got on the schedule. Unfortunately the PNW weather set in and we had to delay work till this week 8-March 2021. Alex and his team arrived Monday and started taping and caulking the house and then started painting that afternoon. They did a great job and finished early. They are extremely busy and we are so grateful they got us in. I am recommending to all of our friends.

Kitsap Brothers were originally recommended by our realtor to prepare our previous home for sale last spring. Kitsap brothers painted the exterior and interior of the 1959 1830 sq. ft. rambler according to the stager's specifications. They coordinated their efforts with us during a very rainy spell in order to get the house ready for staging and the realtor's open house on time. We were very pleased with their punctuality, the results, clean up following the job and the extra effort they made to assure that ceiling stains from an icemaker leak were thoroughly prepped for painting, the woodwork and stone were protected from paint and that they were able to bring new life to our old deck.

For both jobs we were in residence. In addition to their much appreciated punctuality and quick follow up by phone or text with any questions or concerns we had, the brothers were simply a pleasure to work with. We recommend them highly.

I decided to request a bid from Kitsap Brothers painting after finding them from an online search. Alex, the co owner of the business came out a couple of days after the initial call for a consultation. He explained to me what he would be doing and that he usually did not do work in my neighborhood. When I asked where a majority of his work is done, he told me that he usually does jobs out on Bainbridge Island (a more affluent city in my county). This was the main reason why i chose to go with this company. The second reason was that he was always very responsive to my phone calls and he would give me a heads up on his way when he needed to speak to me in person. The third reason i chose this company is because the man who came to bid on the job was the same person performing the work.
I began to have doubts after the pressure washing was performed. Although he was able to do this very quickly, I noticed the day after that my outside lights had been broken and strewn about on the front yard. I spoke with him briefly about it (since I did plan on buying new ones to go with the new paint) and he let me know that he did know that they broke. The next time they came out I picked out the paint colors and the day after my house siding had already been completely sprayed. Everything seemed to be going okay, but not excellent.
I also request to have my front door painted, not restained, and since I have an older wood door, it needed a few coats of primer and paint. This was the only part of the process where I needed to be home since the door needed to be open during this process.
Overall, I am pleased with the colors and the time it took to finish the project (1 week including a 3 day weekend off). But unfortunately, the clean up just didn't happen. The lights that were broken were not picked up (I am still finding glass in my front yard) and the utilities that they used (water hose and extension cord) were not put away when they were done using them. They also didn't put back my bench that was on the front porch. When looking over the house again, I also found that they did not remove old staples that were in the siding of the house and just painted right over them. There were too many things that didn't go right during this project and I felt that they could have done a much better job.
