Don was very knowledgeable and helpful. We have had a few issues with our hydronic system over the last 10 years, and I'm so glad I finally found Don Taylor! He knew what he was doing and was confident in his work, which makes me feel confident that our system is up and running the way it's supposed to. I will definitely use him again in the future if needed. Thanks Don for your help, very much appreciated.

Don knows his stuff, but he's expensive!  He is knowledgeable and spent the time to explain my system to me. The issue with my system was elusive at first. Don was methodical in inspecting and testing each component until he narrowed down the cause. I had a foreign object (likely from a prior owner's remodel or a piece of a value that broke off) floating in front of a control valve that intermittently obstructed the flow of hot water. He found the issue, removed the object, and replaced the control valve.
You will pay for this knowledge though!  He charged travel time to get to my home, an initial 1/2 hour charge and an hourly labor charge after that. The first half hour incurred both the initial 1/2 hour charge and the hourly rate so his first half hour cost $232!! Maybe that was an accounting error on his part, but I felt the combined charges were excessive for just the first half hour, especially since the total time was 2 3/4 hours of work.
Travel time is charged beyond 20 miles or 30 minutes. It took him an hour to get to my house but he didn't subtract the first 30 minutes so I ended up paying for the full hour of travel time. I didn't realize these costs until after he left and I started doing the math.
Would this prevent me from using him in the future?  Maybe. Depends on what I think needs to be done. I don't mind paying for knowledge and experience but I'd like a better idea of the costs next time.
I have confidence in his knowledge and would recommend him to others.

Don looked over my system and explained I had an excellent boiler.  He
took it apart, cleaned it, fixed some controller valves and saved me a
ton of money.  Don knows radiant heat systems better than anyone I have
found.  Use him and know you are getting the best in the business.

I called Don right during the cold snap when everyone was super busy and asked for help because I couldn't get the heating to work in my MIL unit. I had renters who needed to move in and couldn't get the apartment ready for them without heat. He rearranged his schedule that day to come out and fix it. He explained what was wrong and what to watch for in the future. I would highly recommend him and will be using him for maintenance on my system.

Don was great to work with. I highly recommend as he knows his boiler systems and is efficient at what he does.

We had been ignoring the blue copper corrosion on the pipes of our radiant heating system for some time because we dreaded having to find a plumber or heating technician. All you ever hear are stories of other people getting ripped off. So I joined Angie's List and found Don (the owner) at Radiant Tech and we couldn't have made a better choice. Don is awesome!
Don is professional, on time, educates you along the way, and really goes above and beyond. He confirmed the day before arriving at our scheduled time and came prepared with everything we had discussed he was going to do. You will like him immediately. He is very personable and comes from the heart in his work. He also really knows his stuff. He's got 40 years of experience and knows these systems inside and out.
Don completed the agreed-upon repairs in the expected time - in other words, there were no surprises. He also gave us a full on education about our system - even teaching us how to do some of the work ourselves, to save us money.
If you are looking for someone who you can trust and who knows what he's doing, you are in great hands with Don at Radiant Tech.
Final Note: To further emphasize my happiness with Don's service, I have written a total of maybe 4 reviews in my life. This is not a dime-a-dozen review. I really have to be impressed (or p*****) to do so and this is a case of impressed. I hope my review will help others like us.

Don was a referral from a local plumber. I am very happy we found him. He is very pleasant to work with and very knowledgeable about what he does. He came in and saw the boiler, tested to see if it was properly treated, and changed out the mess of the piping and valves there. He provided an oral estimate. When the work on the boiler was finally done, he had come in under what he estimated and completed all the work he said he would. Additionally, he made the work look nice. No mess and he and his two assistants cleaned up after themselves. They took care not to walk on the carpet.
With regards to the radiant floor system, he was easy to work with too. Don come up with a suggestion for our system and when we discussed other options he explained the pluses and minuses there too.
As an added bonus, he provided his cell phone and communicated by text and call. He was responsive to inquiries we had and able to answer our questions. He has always responded within a reasonable time frame.
Working with Don has been a great experience. He remains open to any questions we have as we are learning to operate our system.

I had been told by multiple companies that my system was too old to fix. Radiant tech immediately told me that of course
they could fix my old copper pipe system and they did. The other companies were trying to sell me a completely new
heating system. Radiant tech saved me from tearing my house apart and spending $15,000 to replace a system that
was fixable and is now working.

Don was a referral from a guy at a heating/AC store, and was a fantastic discovery. He is one of the few people who work on these old hydronic systems, and knows them like the back of his hand. He came in and assesed the existing, very inefficient oil-driven boiler system that we had in place, and told us what he would need to do to upgrade us to a natural gas system. He provided an estimate in a couple of days, as well as some suggestions for potential upgrades that we might be interested in, such as hydronic floor heating in our enclosed porch, and a toe-kick heater in our under-equipped, newly remodelled and expanded kitchen area. No hard sell, just suggestions, and was fully content when we declined until and quot;sometime in the future.and quot; He also recommended to leave certain things electric, because in his experience, they would serve us better that way. This is notable because it cut down what he would make on the job.
To work on our system, Don of course had to drain the water out. We wanted to sand-blast and repaint our old radiators, and that was the optimal time to do so. Don took care of it, reinstalled the radiators, and then checked/replaced the valves, etc.
.Don quickly and efficiently changed out the necessary equipment. This involved re-piping some of the areas, and bringing pipes through floors where somebody else had put linoleum over the pipes. Additionally, we had Don bring hydronic heat back up to our 3rd floor (it had been there many years ago, but then they converted it to electric.) Additionally, we had him convert our fireplace from wood-burning to gas, and had him bring a gas valve outside for and quot;future plans.and quot; All of the work was done in a professional manner.
Because we are clueless, we have called him a number of times regarding questions that we have had about fine-tuning the system. He has always responded within a reasonable time frame.
All in all, it has been a great experience.
