MICHAELS DRYWALL CONSTRUCTION

We were recommended this contractor by the project manager overseeing the remodel of our 2 story house in Kirkland. The quote for the level 4 finish of the entire house was a bit high, but they were highly recommended and they were available at the time that we needed. The work was completed quickly enough, but there was a bunch of touch up given that we were paying for a level 4 finish. Luckily, the painter was on site and could stand over the mudder's shoulder and mark all the areas that needed fixing. However, a couple of the walls are concave. It's not something that we want to live with, but we're stuck with it now. The kicker was that we brought them out to redo a wall because our fireplace was not built correctly. We requested a quote for an 8x8 wall (not structural) to be torn down and rebuilt with metal studs and then hang cement board so that we can tile it (right now it's built with wood studs and drywall -- a clear fire hazard considering there is a very large gas fireplace installed in the wall). The drywall guy makes $25 an hour, and estimated it was only a day's work since there was no mudding or taping (mudding and taping would be done by the tile guy). The straight time and materials for this job is about $350. The quote came back from Michael at $1500. He was unwilling to come down on price when we suggested maybe $800-1000, which is what subsequent quotes from other groups offered.
