This review is long overdue. I intended to review the work after enough time has passed for us to settle into the changed space. We have settled in and couldn't be happier. The catalyst for finally writing this review was some relatively minor additional work we have done with a slightly more "economical" construction company. Even though the work of the other company has checked all the boxes for us to consider it fine, it made us realize what it is like working with a well-organized, experienced, thorough GM company. LZL has taken our requests, organized them in amazingly detailed project plan, reviewing every minutia of our project with us, provided us with options with clearly delineated differences in cost/time that they would entail. Needless to say, this resulted in our complete satisfaction. Of course, they executed the entire project flawlessly, and any unforeseen issue was remedied after providing us with options. The end result was fantastic!

LZL was exceptional in every way. From the design process, communication, transparent, pricing, quality of workmanship, As well as going above and beyond with extra work on the house. It helped to have a full-time coordinator/supervisor assigned to my job, which kept everything on track to complete the job by the expected deadline. The end result was overall excellent, I would completely recommend LZL for any type of renovation or construction. They will likely not be the least expensive bid, but you will get what you pay for.

Over the last 6 years, we’ve done 4 remodel projects on our home in Kirkland with 4 different contractors. The best of these was the last project - LZL remodeled our garage bay into an extra bedroom. They handled everything. What sets LZL apart is the professionalism and attention to detail at all stages of the project. Our job supervisor – Mike – went out of his way to make our project a wild success. He treated our home as if it were his own. He listened to what we wanted, offered helpful suggestions, and implemented our decisions. Mike kept the project on schedule, walking us through any updates as soon as he had them. The site was clean, tidy, and safe at the end of every day. The Results are amazing. Every detail is perfect. With every other job, there is some imperfection I have noticed, or some corner that was cut. There are absolutely none in our new bedroom. With our first remodels we focused on the bottom line and paid for it. LZL was worth the little extra.

We have been working with LZL Construction for the past decade in two different homes. Each and every project has been executed with a high level of craftsmanship and professionalism. Projects and have been on time and on budget, except for when the inevitable unknowns in construction come up. In those cases, the team has been upfront with budget changes and very straightforward with updates and change orders when they came up. The LZL team stands behind their work. On the very few occasions when we have needed them to come back, they have always been incredibly responsive. We have always felt that they have put our best interests first and they are incredibly client centric and ethical. They are also very thorough and meticulous in their bid process with subcontractors. When the work is underway, we always feel confident in the team's hands on project management. If you are looking to work with a general contracting company with a high level of integrity, network of quality subcontractors, and generally excellent people- look no further than LZL Construction.

We did a major 6-month remodel with the LZL team, which included a kitchen and dining room remodel and some structural changes to accommodate additional exterior windows. We couldn't be been happier. The site manager was excellent - we were living in the home during the remodel and he was in constant communication to make sure the work progressed quickly and on-time, while still respecting we had a family to raise during the remodel. The work quality on every aspect of the project was exceptional. The owner checked-in frequently and not only verified the work was progressing, but also offered suggestions on creative options for design choices and options to control costs. Most of their senior team has worked together for many years, and it shows in how they communicate. I've recommended LZL to a few other friends - I would happily use them again for other remodels.

First off: They are all very nice people. However, after just 10 years of living in the house, it's apparent that most of the subs they used weren't so fantastic. We've had persistent problems with inadequate insulation, negative airflow causing septic odors, AC issues, and water intrusion around our fancy custom-made wooden windows, many of which have already failed. Almost all the woodwork outside is rotting and needs to be replaced. You'll pay a pretty penny for a very nice management team. We've worked with them on many other projects since, and the same problems keep popping up, especially with water intrusion issues. Ten years is the perfect amount of time to reveal just how poor the workmanship originally was. And their workmanship doesn't stand the test of time. (One roof they installed started leaking within months). It's hard for me to write this, because I really like them as people. Their work, however, simply fails to be even adequate.

Originally we decided on this company because we had contact with one of the supervisors that had worked on one of their jobs in the neighborhood. We had asked for him to be the supervisor on our project and were led to believe that this would happen until the job started and then we were told that he was assigned to another job and we were getting a different supervisor. They refused to let the supervisor we requested do the job although they said he could be there for some of the weekly meetings because they recognized that we trusted him. Job started and one thing after another was done wrong and had to be corrected. An example was the day they opened the existing wall on the home to the new family room. I noted the opening was not centered on the wall so the next day I pointed it out to the site supervisor and he told that no it was like it was on the drawing. Well, we disagreed and I asked him to check the drawings. The next day he started redoing the whole opening to center it and he apologized. Another example that I would expect even a novice supervisor to get right is the placement of a sink on a bathroom counter. He had placed the cutout for the sink too far back and there was no room for the faucet! The whole top had to be redone. After several months of constantly having to ask the contractor to come out and have the supervisor fix one mistake after another, I was literally in tears from the whole experience. I don't have room to list all the mistakes that had to be redone in this remodel. LZL did fix all the mistakes that I brought to their attention. My fear is the mistakes that weren't caught that may surface someday. I have no trust in this company. The contractor does not check the work done by the supervisors he hires. This is poor management. The main contractor was very apologetic that so many mistakes were made and he acknowledged the mistakes. I would never hire a contractor again that does not come to the site to check the work! LZL as a company may be able to do great work but the company is only as good as it's worse supervisor and subcontractor it uses. Hopefully in the years since our remodel they have increased their quality control. They did tell me that that supervisor was not doing any big projects after ours.

Dennis and the LZL crew are truly top notch and a pleasure to work with. Quality and customer service are clearly their top priority and they do it at a competitive price. The bathrooms turned out great and they kept the mess down to as low a level as possible. I can't recommend them highly enough. This is the 2nd job they have done for me - a home theater was the first and they did a great job there as well.
