Jeff Anderson's Custom Building and Remodeling

Not good.

My mother?s little house, about 1000 sq ft, was stuck in the 70s ? avocado appliances, fake wood paneling, orange carpeting, etc. Yes, it was dark and depressing. The kitchen had a drop ceiling (for fluorescent lights) in an already low ceilinged home. The normal height counters were too high for us to work comfortably. And we only had one bathroom for two aging women. For years we wanted something done, but experiences with other contractors have been disappointing. And DIY remodeling ?as shown on TV? by my late father, bless his soul, were, well, not quite right. We learned of Jeff through my mother?s physical therapist, a very particular person. Somehow we got on the subject of remodeling during a session and he highly recommended Jeff who had done work at the clinic. As it happens, Jeff?s wife, Irene, works there and we had already formed a relationship with her. So began our remodeling project with Jeff as he finished up another. We were very fortunate not having to wait as he usually has clients waiting. Jeff came over and he looked out the window at our garden and said we needed a wall of windows! That was, I think, the basis for the whole redesign, and something I was wishing for. It was an indication we were thinking alike. We worked together well brainstorming and refining the design. This is a testament more to Jeff?s nature than to mine. We ended up with a bright, beautiful, larger kitchen, more storage, a wall of windows, a separate laundry room with a half bathroom, pot lights, seamless ceiling throughout. This was without expansion. The final outcome was a masterpiece of efficient design and craftsmanship, in my opinion. Jeff has great creativity and skill combined with a lot of experience. It?s a hard combination to find. Don?t judge someone just on experience as we have in the past. I have a lot of experience cooking but that doesn?t make me a good cook! Sitting here, at the new counter looking out the windows, I can?t remember the old kitchen and I can?t imagine a better new one. My mother is delighted with her kitchen and I think the remodel has lifted her spirits overall. How could it not? And to boot, we made wonderful friends in Jeff and Irene. Now, for some advice. Pick out paint colors, counters, flooring, etc. early. We had a hard time deciding, agreeing, all along the way, which sometimes slowed things down as some things took awhile to get. Go to the store and try the windows out if possible. The windows we were planning on were difficult to open for me and would have been impossible for my mother and her arthritic hands. Don?t be afraid to tell Jeff that you have concerns about something or that you prefer something different. He is easy to work with. We recommend Jeff very highly, without any reservations. He?s smart, quick and efficient but always thinking things through and paying attention to details. And though we tired of remodeling we never tired of Jeff. We will definitely hire him again. And if he?s busy, we will wait. And, by the way, other contractors highly respect Jeff as a person and craftsman and use him in their own homes. If you are thinking of a remodel, now would be a great time as the best remodelers such as Jeff don't have the backlog of work.
