Thank you to James Sprague and his guys at Fancy Plants Gardens for our beautiful new paver path and patio! Not only is the end result better than we hoped for, the process was relatively painless as James and his team were professional, respectful, and on budget!! I've dealt with a fair number of contractors, and my biggest complaint is always their communication skills. As my project was weather dependent, I was impressed that James made a point to reach out to let me know which days his guys would be working, which they wouldn't and why. If you have a paver project in your future, I would strongly recommend giving James a call!

James came out and looked at the property and listened carefully to what we were looking for.  I asked for a design that would allow good use of the small space and for us and for our small dog.  He came up with a written design, which I reviewed, and I approved making one suggestion to improve the transition from the lower to upper half of the space.  He and his partner started the work, building a fence, installing a stone step/transition, leveling some of the space, planting 20+ plants.  The work was completed in mid-October.  The result was fantastic--great selection of plants, the right number of plant for the space, etc.  All plants survived a very wet winter, and burst back in the spring.  Still looks great two years later.    We would (and plan to) use his services again.

We really liked him, but I wasn't entirely thrilled. He did what he said he was going to do. He did a design for us and he put the plants in, but he couldn't get the plants that he originally was going to put in so he put some different ones in. We weren't thrilled with them because they were smaller and they didn't fill in, and it looked really bare. I told him it didn't look very good. There are not very many plantings and there is a lot of bare ground. He bought some more plants but then he charged us for that. We weren't really happy. It was one of those things when I wrote the check to him. I wasn't thrilled. We paid for it. I just felt like he wasn't responsive to me saying, "This looks really bare. What could we do?" It turned out okay but then we ended up buying more plants and putting them in, and we sort of didn't want to do the work. We shouldn't have to do work after we had it done and spent that kind of money. I had to ask him to put something back in because it was so bare. I think when he designed it, he just didn't take into consideration how big the yard was. If we left the way he left it, it would have looked very weird this summer. The yard looked nice. I felt that as a designer and somebody that knew what he was doing, he didn't make the best choices on plants. Because he couldn't get the ones he promised, he got different ones and they didn't perform as well. He was very congenial and very responsive. He did get here and got it done quickly. He did all of these in not very much time for that much money. He did not spend much money on the wholesale plantings. We liked everything about him except for the finished product. When I went back to him and asked him about it and sort of made some suggestions, he wasn't entirely responsive. For punctuality, he was really right on. We wouldn't use him again, which is too bad because we really liked him and we really wanted him to be exactly what we were looking for.

Great Job, I highly recommend James and his company. Did a great plan, got the work done in a timely manner, and even installed the base for my new flagpole. Even put a bit of (brand new sod) grass in the lawn for the dogs to use as needed (grin).

James, the owner,  comes out and listens to what I want. He knows exactly what to do. He is an Arborist. He also prunes my over grown shrubs. He knows all the different plants and trees. He can work independently. I can leave the home and I don't have to worry about the yard, because it always looks great when he is done. He is very honest and reliable. He will tell you if a certain plant is not good for your yard or he will recommend a certain plant. He and the other worker do an amazing job.  They never over do it in the slightest.  He is good about helping reduce costs. He is just marvelous. I am so thankful I found him.  I would highly recommend his service. He is excellent in every way.

Wonderful!
I met James at the NW Flower and Garden Show, I liked his installation, asked if he could come out and look at my place and give me an estimate for what I wanted to do to my front yard.  He was so helpful, he shared his knowledge of what would and wouldn't work, types of pavers, the shape of the walkway, different shapes of weeping birches, how the split rail would look, helped me pick out the stain color.  And he was patient with me also..I wanted to see the pavers and the tree up close,. he told me where the tree was, and I went to the nursery to check it out, they let me mark the one I wanted.  As for the pavers, James met me at the paver place and we talked about the different types and what look I was trying to accomplish.
It looks so good now..my neighbors commented to him and myself about what a great job he was doing.  James had an apprentice helping who worked with James harmoniously...they got things done in an efficient manner..really beautiful work.  It's posted on FB if anyone wants to look at it, he also has a website which has before and after pics..I saw them before we started working and liked what I saw.

I have given James' card out to several people now, I am very happy with his work and have and will keep recommending him to my friends.

The whole experience was a positive one.  I was completely satisfied with the final results and I found it very easy to deal with James in making changes and explaining what I wanted done. He was also very helpful in making suggestions on design and which plants would be good in my new yard. He gave a competitive bid and follwed thru on what he said he would do.

He is fantastic. He has got it in him. He listens. He does not turn his nose up just because it is a smaller job. He gives me inputs to kind of steer me in the right direction. I am going to use him again. He provides fantastic service.

We were selling our house and had Fancy Plants come and do front and back yard clean-up, arrangement of plants and lay bark through out all of our flower beds . They did an amazing job and everything turned out beautiful. They even identified and removed a poisonous plant I was letting grow because it looked nice. We were very pleased with the result and sold our house within a week.

Absolutely outstanding job - for value, qualty, creativity, thoroughness, integrity and solid "get it done right" work. (and.. no, I'm not in anyway related or associated with the vendor - just a happy, satisfied customer who is very likely to have more work done by this company :)
Response from Fancy Plants Gardens
