F John Finney – Tile Extraordinaire

John did a fabulous job! Got the job done in a timely fashion and was always pleasant. Always willing to give input on how to make the re-model look good and cost effective.

F. John Finney is personable and prompt. He produces beautiful tile work, and resolves any issues quickly and well. He helped shape the project from the beginning, and we are extremely pleased with the result! We have a very small master bath, and he transformed it from a beige nightmare with a prefab shower stall into a very welcoming space. He's great with kids and dogs, too!

We hired John based on recommendation of our other primary contractor. John has 40 years of experience doing remodels, and specifically in laying tile. John is extremely meticulous and professional in his work ethic, and we benefitted tremendously from the breadth and depth of his years of experience. He sent us to his preferred vendor to select tile, who were very friendly and provided expert guidance regarding the pros and cons when we were selecting tile. They also provided a nice contractor discount on the materials. When our old floor tile was removed we discovered that there was mold on the subfloor, and the floor wasn't exactly level. John was able to seal the subfloor, while simultaneously leveling it as well. He recommended replacing the wooden cove base around the perimeter of the master bath with bullnose tile, which is much more sturdy. Once he completed the floor tile he began working on our shower tile. Again, John was very conscientious in his attention to detail, and always touched base with us to make sure everything he was doing delivered on the vision we had for the final product. When all was said and done, we had a "spa-worthy" master bath that is a amazing retreat. There were so many value-adds John added to the job, small details that, all together, made the final product so much better than even we could have anticipated or imagined. We cannot recommend John enough, he is not only an exceptional craftsman but just a super nice guy too. His prices were extremely reasonable, considering what the other contractors quoted us. If you're lucky enough to hire him, I can tell you you'll be very satisfied.

John was great to work with. He was there from inception to realization and was beyond helpful at every step along the way. By the end of the project we had become friends, and I was tempted to find more remodeling projects just so I could keep John around. I’ll definitely be using his services again in the future.

F. John was easy to work with. He provided sound examples and advice to help us make the best design decisions. He was very helpful throughout the process, from helping us remove debris from our demo, to accommodating the schedule and process of other contractors we had on the job to ensure it was done as quickly and efficiently as possible. And the end result is gorgeous! I highly recommend his work.

Every job was priced reasonably. He does all the work himself unless there is a specialty item that needs different expertise (for instance custom shower doors). In these cases he knows local vendors that he has worked with in the past who meet his strict standards. He keeps the work area clean and fixes existing problems when he finds them instead of ignoring them. His tile expertise is outstanding and knows how to lay all different types of tile. He researches things he may not know and the end product always exceeds expectations.

We are very pleased with the results, F. John definitely exceeded our expectations He  is a true craftsman, a master at his trade who takes great pride in his work. He did all the work himself, he has no employees. He is a second generation tile setter who was trained by his father from a young age to do things correctly. He uses the best quality materials and does not cut corners.

If you have a tile project and want top quality work at a fair price, F. John Finney should receive top consideration as the man for the job.

F. John did a wonderful job on the tile work. Tiling the master bath shower turned out to be more complicated than anticipated, but F. John took on the additional effort required with a great attitude and completed the job. It all looks beautiful. He uses an epoxy grout for all of his tile projects, which is superior to regular grout for its stain and water resistance properties. We certainly appreciate the added protection in the bathrooms. He is dependable and knowledgeable, and always left the job site nice and neat when he was done for the day.

A friend recommended F. John to me, for which I'm so thankful. F. John was an absolute Godsend in my preparation for hip surgery. First and foremost, F. John listened to my needs and answered my questions in an easily understandable manner before and during the job. Also, he was helpful in suggesting the most appropriate tile for the job. F. John was totally trustworthy, prompt, prepared, cheerful, clean, and bonded with my animals, who loved him.



F. John is an A++ professional in every way, whose work is impeccable! I would recommend him to anyone who wants a job done right the first time at a reasonable price.

We had planned to do our shower tiling in our unfinished bathroom ourselves, but our busy lives got in the way. We called F John and he came to our rescue so future house guests can enjoy their own shower. He finished the wall construction, helped us finalize our design plans and did a fantastic job with the tile. He returned immediately to address a minor leak discovered when the shower enclosure was tested (which had to happen after silicone dried properly). He also worked with my husband to install the glass shower. We are very happy with the final result and will certainly call him if future needs arise.
The only reason I gave him a 4 on professionalism was the lack of a written estimate up front. His verbal estimate was accurate, so in the end it didn't matter. However, Teak Drywall and Perma-Dry (both involved in our project) had written estimates up front and when we changed something with Teak, he issued a change order. I decided to reserve the 5 rating for those kinds of efforts. Again, we were completely satisfied with F John's craftsmanship and recommend him highly.

The transformation from tub/shower combination to beautiful tiled shower was just what I wanted .He is a master craftsman with

stone and tile and knows plumbing and carpentry to make all come together! We are very pleased with his work and work ethic!

I contacted F.John for help in remodeling my upstairs bathroom.Each step of the process was explained as he worked for about 7 days. I was really impressed with his skill and workmanship. The shower construction was excellent even putting in grab bar support behind the Hardy for possible future use.The shower floor and curb he built and tiled is fantastic and is leak proof using the best construction methods and materials..The shampoo niche was hand crafted and will even fit costco size shampoo bottles. He built in a seperate smaller soap niche. He did an amazing job setting and grouting the tile for both the shower and the mirror frame. He also patched holes and textured the walls where needed.. He takes pride in this work and attention to detail.. He always kept his work space clean,He adds value by doing little extra things like fixing the caulking in my other bathroom sink ( he noticed it and just fixed it!) and using any extra mud to patch some holes in the walls in our dowstairs hallway.We are very very happy with his work and the result.
