David Getts is a Master Craftsman. It was a pleasure to work with him: not only cause he has an easy going, friendly personality but mostly because He had attended to all the details with great attention and professionalism and he had created the bookshelf I always dreamed about. Just perfect and amazing all the way. Super highly recommend.

Project went smoothly.  Design phase was quick and efficient.  Once all supplies were available, all went as planned.  David communicated almost daily and kept us updated with all aspects of the project.

David did a superb job. The finished product was exactly what we had agreed to. We had done the basic design work (sizes, features, color), but relied on David for finishing details such as hardware and a few design points we hadn't considered. David had posted some progress pictures on his Facebook page, so we could follow the build as it happened.  The end product is excellent - matches our existing wood perfectly, is very solidly built, and met our needs perfectly. As might be expected, custom work is not inexpensive, but we felt that we got excellent value. I'd use David again for any similar project.

David was superb. We had a designer get us started and had another contractor we worked with successfully previously. The other contractor bailed on us before getting started. Our designer knew David and was able to get him to jump in. He was totally professional and very interested in getting it just as we wanted. This takes time and effort on our part too, but was worth it. Our house was built in the 1920's and every project we have ever done has turned out to be more complicated than envisioned. The end result was astonishing. The bay window looks like it was part of the original construction, inside and out. I have asked people who did not know it was new and they thought it was original, so not just my imagination. Replacing the exhaust fan in the kitchen was a major adventure because of the placement of the stove and two previous remodeling efforts, one done in the kitchen before we bought the house and another that we had done on the second floor. David and his subcontractors were all over it and it has worked perfectly. David supervised the subcontractors extrremely well. Not surprisingly, the project turned out to be quite expensive, but the expertise brought to bear, the friendly, thorough communication and the quality of the finished projects provide ample justification.

Simply a fantastic job.  We cannot say enough about the quality of workmanship but also the detail and conversation along the way to ensure we were involved in the project as desired.  David called out the scope and timeline very accurately.  Any changes were due to our decisions to add features or new elements to the project.  When we did so David was clear and timely on any cost or timing impact.  David Getts not only built every cabinet in his shop but installed each piece himself.  He was on the job each day and hand picks his sub contractors for plumbing, electrical, paint etc..  Our project took about 7 weeks and we are now complete.  We are happy with every single inch of the kitchen and added projects.  I HIGHLY recommend David Getts Design to anyone who is thinking of cabinets or home projects at all!

David was contacted by our design person after another contractor failed to follow through. He jumped right in. He was thorough, highly professional and totally reliable. He ran a team of several subcontractors and coordinated them as well as I have ever seen that done. He offered useful ideas, took initiative and was informative about costs. While the overall cost ended up being steep, there were many details that needed to be solved on the fly. Nearly $10K of the expense was for the double-pane, leaded glass windows, that had to be special ordered from Quantum in Everett. Getting a proper vent system from the kitchen to the roof on the second story was a major puzzle as was finding a ventilation fan that would actually fit into the available space. He kept us fully informed all the way along and was on site doing alot of the detail work personally. The bay window looks like it was part of the original construction, which is exactly what we wanted. We recommend him highly.

I'm not sure where to start.  If you look at the finished product, it speaks for itself - a kitchen that draws compliments, even from people who don't normally compliment on those sorts of things.  We love our kitchen (solid walnut doors, slide-out pantry, soft-close drawers, granite countertops, completely functional, etc.)
That said, I think the bigger win for David, in my eyes - is how well he handled the progression of the project.  I am in the I.T. industry, so I don't have time to do these types of projects myself, but I came from a wood-working father, so I know what good craftsmanship is - and I want it.  David asks for consultation & design fees up front, but applies those to the job if you have him do the work.  In the consultation, I learned so much - I learned I didn't really know all that I thought I knew.  David's advice on placement of every detail in the kitchen quickly revealed he has, not only, been doing this awhile - he also loves introducing functionality into the kitchen space.
And while he was full of considerable recommendations, he also was quick to adopt visions (challenges) I had as well.
During the project, he was very effective at managing and coordinating the many sub-contractors who needed to have access to our home.  Once the ball started rolling, the tasks became a flurry of coordination and evolution.  I couldn't keep up, but David was a very effective project manager.
Then, when the plumbing, electrical and drywall was set, David's real talent kicked in - He started producing the cabinetry and counter-bases.  It is amazing to me how he can make all the cabinets and counters perfectly straight and all of the doors close perfectly aligned, when the walls and floors all have some element of crookedness to them.
David even posted his progress on Facebook so I could keep up with action in his garage.
I really see no reason to ever purchase mass-produced cabinets when you can have far superior cabinets made by a member of your community.  I talked with many people about David's reputation - even the appliance salesman - and everyone had nothing but good things to say about his end product.
Needless to say - my wife and I are thrilled with our kitchen, we marvel at it's beauty everyday and we are ecstatic about how easy it is to effortlessly operate in our space when cooking and cleaning.
On a general note - I am a victim of today's instant gratification.  I was thinking that our kitchen remodel might take 4-8 weeks, max.  It took longer.  My biggest lesson learned was the time requirement.  Hence my advice - if you are looking for a true transformation in your project, allow it enough time to evolve as it should - don't expect true change overnight.
I hired a local craftsman in good faith, and David's services didn't let me down - I'd recommend him to anybody, and I'll be hiring him again for a few other projects.
