About us

Douglas Bate Painting is fully licensed, bonded & insured. We provide a full range of painting services for any size property and offer free detailed quotes for all interior/exterior painting, residential and commercial. We also take pride in serving Seattle's popular floating home community,attending to the intricacies of painting and dock maintenance of now 48 houseboats along Lake Union and Portage Bay. Job site policy is orderly, clean, respectful and quiet (no music). As contractor I am always on-site to ensure safe and efficient service. Employees number from 1-6 men, depending on the job. Initial bids invite comments / questions prior to finalized contract, in the spirit of clear communication from start to finish. All bids include a minimum of 6 excellent references. We charge no additional fees for travel time or for short notice / emergency work. Range of services includes selective maintenance painting for properties on the market and for rentals between tenants. All enquiries will receive contractor's response within 48 hours, and all jobs are completed on consecutive days (weather permitting) to completion and inspection .

We also provide service for small related repairs, decks, driveways, dry-rot, drywall, e.g., full pressure washing of property and surrounds, including specialized needs of floating homes (houseboats and docks). Interiors to include fine trim detailing, large or small, walkways

Doug had found the perfect color to match our new metal clad windows, and he and his crew arrived exactly when he said they would.  Worked four full days and were done on time and at the price he had given in his estimate.  All involved were professional, good-natured, and hard workers. We would definitely hire Doug again.

Douglas Bate and his quiet crew - Professional, prompt, courteous.  After mixing a custom body color and choosing trim color, there was a death in our family.  We immediately packed and left for out of state.  Arriving back home 2 weeks later, our house was painted!  We choose front and back door color.  They finished and wow, the results were great!  Our red doors pop with just the right amount of pizazz, our house never looked better.  Thank you Douglas for taking care of things while we were away, you're the best!

Doug Bate and his team took great care throughout the project making certain the brand new carpeting we recently had installed was kept clean as well as all of the other surfaces that were not being painted. He supervised and assisted in the entire project start to finish. They completed on time and on budget. The attention to detail was fabulous. The outcome is beautiful. Our house is a floating home with many unusual angles, nooks, corners, odd shaped ceilings so was a bit challenging. Very happy with the quality of work.

As I've come to expect from Doug, the job was A+.  His attention to detail in the preparation phase, the most important in my estimation  is impeccable.  We used four colors, two of which transitioned in the middle of rounded outside corners.  The masking was perfect, no paint runs, a solid application of paint, no faint spots, no paint on the ceiling, floors or furniture.

Doug provides a high quality, professional service in a professional manner.

The crew was very friendly and professional, efficient, and cleaned up as they went along.  The place looks great.  Many neighbors ended up calling him to work on their houses after seeing what a great job he did.  I also got a bid on having my own place done and plan to do so in the near future. Our floating homes co-op hired him to paint  the inside & outside of a houseboat that the co-op owned before putting it on the market.  Again, couldn't ask for a better job or nicer people.  The work on the first houseboat was in 2008, I believe, and the co-op job was towards the end of 2010.  I had him come look at my place last summer to get a bid.  Don't have amounts that were paid, but was very reasonable and included a really thorough prep job. Both places still look like they were just done so the work has lasted well.

Doug and his crew have always been prompt, professional, fast and tidy.  Special logistical problems always occur when working on floating homes (e.g., how do you reach the second story when standing on a raft?).  Doug and crew have been adept at figuring out clever solutions.  They are hard working and friendly, yet quiet, to have around. They do an excellent job at a very fair price.
