"Hi [Member Name Removed], thank you for the feedback. I like happy people, makes it much easier to make them happy clients :))"
"The Coveys hired us to service their roof which we did and they were very pleased. We also have a maintenance service available to our clients where we can come out yearly and provide roof tune ups and even moss treatments. We don't however have any contracts and we dont collect any money in advance for any of our service on purpose. We never want to be in a position where we are holding our clients money for services not yet provided. It could be potentially lucrative for us to carry over 6500 clients yearly service cost in our account at a typical cost of $300 per client but that leaves both us and our clients in a position of risk. We also found that repeated contact and scheduling challenges required by us to facilitate our clients made it very cost prohibitive to be obligated to provide a contract service. The final reason we do not have contracts is there's no way of adjusting the frequency each clients home needs that type of service based on factors like trees and lots of debris or no trees and zero debris as well as the cost from time to time as our operating costs go up which again is not a sustainable business model. The Coveys would not acknowledge any of our rational even though they have never paid for any service in advance and they could never provide that contract. We gave them a service quote for an annual maintenance in 2013 which I did stay as close to that exact cost as possible. They didn't want to change to the service I recommended due to the environment around their home so there's not much I can do. Again they can provide the very work quote that says exactly my quote for our tip top roof service is not a contract for the reasons I stated above. If they would like to acknowledge that on here I'd be happy to just provide that service absolutely FREE simply for them being integris with this reply. They can respond here and call our office to schedule that service FREE once they update this review."
We chose them because we believe their pitch about higher quality and satisfaction guarantees. Good salesman, but terrible service and business owner.
"Thanks [Removed Member Name], Brittany will be in touch in the spring to service your home afain. God bless you and your family. If there's anything else we can do to help please feel free to call."
"Hi [Member name removed], thank you for the review. I see that you updated it, if there is anything I can do to help your experience with my company be even better, please don't hesitate to call me directly. Thank you again."
The provider was out of town at the time I contact him. He replied promptly and the work was scheduled and occurred on time. He came to provide a quote after viewing the work to be done. I inquired about the process, for which he had a customer book of articles, letters from customers and FAQs. I selected this company because he was listed as environmentally friendly. The method promoted as environmental was the gentle air pressure method of cleaning the moss off the roof. This method was preferred over high water or air pressure. A "treatment" was then applied after the air cleaning. I asked about the components of the "treatment" and he told me it was sodium based. When I arrived home after the day of service, I noticed a very strong bleach smell outside and all of the patio furniture was still out in the grass and not returned to it's place. Three days after the day of cleaning, a hard rain came, which left lots of suds in the downspouts. I was painting the gutters and finished the back side of the house after the treatment and before the rains. The service was to include cleaning the gutters. I had previously cleaned 3/4 of the gutters before the service. While painting the gutters, I was also still cleaning out the debris that should have been cleaned out. The shed in the back still had "treatment" remaining that didn't wash off but it didn't look clean. I spoke with the owner after a follow-up call, which didn't come until 3 weeks later. He said he would return to clean the shed better if I needed it, and after more rains. I have noticed that the one area where grass is immediately in contact with the downspout runoff still remain dead as a doornail. I used an organic lawn service (which I mentioned to the roof service guy - how important environmental products were for me) and the rest of my lawn is gorgeous. When I spoke with the owner, he started to compare the "treatment" to 60 Second Cleaner, which seems like consumer-friendly bleach.
Although the service was prompt (generally - billing and follow-up could have been better), my greatest disappointment was the lack of information available on the ingredients of the "treatment". The roof is clean and bright. I did have to finish cleaning out the gutters (probably from when they blew off the debris in the cleaning). Most importantly, the chemicals were not up to my expectation. I guess part of that falls on me for going with the "sodium" description and not seeing anything in writing. He did a good enough job for what he offers, but it doesn't appear to be ALL environmentally friendly.
"Hi [Member name removed], I'm sorry to just now be responding to your review. I'm fairly new to this and didn't realize Angie's list gives me an opportunity to reply. First thank you for letting me service your home. My desire is to provide value for my clients in the work I produce. Your home had a great deal of moss due to being so close (and under trees). Moss damages the composition by digesting the tar in the composition and ultimately creating holes, gravel loss, and the moss when its mature holds moisture. That moisture can keep the tar paper underlayment under your fiberglass shingles wet. Tar paper underlayment is nothing more than tar soaked crate paper. When that gets wet and dries out repeatedly its like a news paper that gets wet and dries over and over. The result is it gets brittle, cracks and then you develop premature leaks. When we clean a roof, we use air to remove the moss. The air is directed down the roof to remove most all the moss from the roof. If moss is mature especially when the environment around the home has lots of tree debris, moss begins to grow under each course of roofing shingles and lift them, even breaking the thin tar seal that glues them down to the next course. This can cause the roof to be very vulnerable to wind damage. I treated your roof a little heavier than typical because many of your shingles were lifted already from mature moss growth and during the air wash process we never clean up a roof so there may be some residual moss growing under the shingles that can not be removed by the air wash so the treatment needs to do more of the "heavy lifting" of the moss. I sincerely intended to provide you with a better clean and longer term results so your roof lasted longer. Sometimes that does leave a residue. I also increased the concentration in order to be more effective. Its more costly for us but the results are better for you. I had no idea there was anything left in the gutters and will follow up with you even at this point to provide a full gutter clean out if you will allow. If there was any other items or concerns, please call me at my office. My cell phone is also available in my angies list profile. Thank you again for your review and I hope to be able to service your roof again in the future."
I had a few minor issues w/ the roof but Bob went out of his way to take care of them. He will do whatever it takes to make sure you are satisfied w/ the job. Can't ask for more than that!
On the appointed date and time, the young man doing the cleaning showed up, I unlocked the back gate for him, and he told me, after looking at the house, that it would take him a couple of hours to do the job including the clean up. He was good to his word, and the roof looked great and the grounds were cleaned up. He told me that the roof would look even better after the treatment and would look almost new. I was looking forward to that.
Within a couple of hours after the roof cleaner left I received a phone call asking if it was alright to treat the roof. I was surprised but said that it would be fine. That young man told me he'd be there at 1:00pm and was right on time. I asked about the chemicals used and he explained that there was some bleach in the mix, so I asked if he'd tarp my canvas canopy I have over the front door. He said that he would before he treated the roof, and he did. The treatment, which included the roof and the gutter faces, took about an hour. This also included rinsing off the windows with fresh water to remove overspray from the treatment of the gutter faces. After the treatment and rinse were completed, the young man packed everything back in his truck and left.
Both young men were friendly, professional and very competant. And true to statements of Bob, the owner, and the young man (O.J) who did the cleaning, my roof hadn't looked so good since it was installed about 10 to 12 years ago. It looked new. The treatment is guaranteed for 2 years, so it really is a matter of time to see if it will last that long. Other than that, I am well-satisfied. I chose this particular cleaning because it was touchless...that is, my roof would not be pressure-washed nor would it be swept with a broom, which would remove material from the surface of the composite shakes and shorten the life of my roof. It's probably more expensive than having my roof pressure-washed or swept, but it also will prolong the life of my roof. Overall, the cost of this cleaning and treatment is small compared to the cost of a new roof, especially nowadays. I would recommend this company, if you're in the market for a roof cleaning and treating. I'd use them again.
"Thank you [remove member name] It was a pleasure helping you with your home."
