Ken's Tree Care

On February 24, 2019, Mr. Gurley provided a quote of $3,000 to cut down several trees in my yard. I accepted the proposal and, at Mr. Gurley's request, paid $1,000 up front for the work, which Mr. Gurley said he needed to pay for fuel for his equipment, among other things. Mr. Gurley never did any of the work, and became less and less responsive to my inquiries over the next several months. In addition to numerous phone calls, I texted him on the following dates to inquire about the work: February 26, March 1, March 5, March 24, April 1, April 18, April 23, May 19, and July 16. In order to contact Mr. Gurley over the last two months, I have had to use a different phone number every time because Mr. Gurley would not answer or respond to my primary number. Mr. Gurley initially assured me that he would do the work, then later told me he would simply refund my $1,000 because the price he quoted was much too low for the job. I agreed to accept the refund, but he never paid back a penny. When I called him for the last time (July 19, 2019), he told me again he would come and pay me back in person next week because he had other stuff going on. When I told them that that would not do, and that he just needed to tell me where he was and I would come down to him for repayment, he used profanity, called me an "idiot," and hung up. Since that time, Mr. Gurley has conceded via text messages that he took my $1,000 and never did any work, but has made up one lie after another to justify why he hasn't returned my money, telling me among other things that at one point he tried to come do the job but nobody was home (lie) and that he was just about to come return the money until we threatened to report him to the Attorney General (lie).
