Gafco Roofing and Const

I bought my first and only house in 2015. I noticed my roof had started leaking in my living/dining room this late winter/early spring. I spent lots of time researching roofing on the internet so that I would make a somewhat intelligent decision when it came to making such a huge financial decision on my house. Part of that research included BBB and Angie's List for the best companies. I picked four different companies and decided on GAFCO and I am thrilled that I did. I don't like to put people's names in reviews because I don't know if people want their name on the internet but the woman who came to inspect the roof was phenomenal. She climbed over and under and through everything. She was polite and professional and didn't make me feel stupid for asking questions. She pointed things out to me and explained why I would need new roof decking and other products. She gave me time to research the products and processes that I didn't know. When she learned that this was my first house and that I am pretty clueless about this stuff, she pointed out things that I should keep my eye on in the near future. And she did it without dropping, "I have a guy for that," or, "GAFCO can do that for you. Let me up sell you on this." She honestly cared and did it without any sort of financial gain for herself. She helped me through the paperwork part without being condescending or exasperated with my unending questions. She was always available to me via text. She was a great low pressure sales woman. Oh, and she was on time! Once the contract was signed, she let me know when the products would be delivered and work would start. They came out with a crane truck and stored as much of the product on the roof as possible. I think it was about 10 days after the contract went through and then the work started. The roofers were professional and I think it was a quick job (having never been through this process before). They tore off my old shingles all the way to the original shiplap. They placed new roof decking on a 40 square roof, all the layers, and new shingles and TPO for our deck and supply room in a week. They cleaned up after themselves when the job was done. When I had concerns about the roof, the owner came out to look at the roof himself. He clearly cares about his customers and his business. He listened to my concerns about the fascia and solved them. He too has been available by text for my concerns. I believe the gutters are contracted out but they were fast, quick, and professional. The gutters look nice and new. They were done in less than a day. All in all, it was a good experience. Sorry for the long post but I think they deserve it.

We were delighted to find that Eric came over right away and said he could start work soon, as others had indicated a wait of over a month and up to two months. He said he was going to do our small job in a break he had between big ones. However, it was difficult to get him to put his words into writing (estimate/description of work), and even when he did, it needed amendment. Even worse, when we did need additional work, he never put it in writing even when I asked, and when he asked for payment, it was a thousand dollars more than we expected. To his credit he offered to remove the extra charge, but we decided to pay it. It all should all have been in writing so that we were all on the same page before starting the work! I also had to remind him when he said he had emailed stuff like the initial contract and our final receipt, but had not sent them. Also Eric told us that we absolutely HAD to do things a certain way, and he even wanted to redo the repair we had done previously to fix that. Then, ironically, there were parts his crew did in which they failed to do what he had said was essential, and he didn't even notice when he inspected the work. Also, he complained bitterly about having to travel a long way for the materials, but didn't measure before going to get them, so they installed metal edging of the wrong size as well as having to totally redo an area of siding. The work, ultimately, was acceptable, though. Lastly, I was embarrassed by his yelling at his workers in front of me. They seemed to be trying to do things as he requested, but he was impatient and sharp with them consistently. My mother always said you get more flies with honey than vinegar (!), and getting and keeping good employees is always an issue in any business. I believe that he wants to do a good job and is capable of it, but needs to approach this with more professionalism.

Eric and his crew did a great job. They showed up when expected and did the roof in a little over one day. I was originally concerned that the tear-off might damage the fine mesh screens over the rain gutters but the screens are fine. GAFCO did something that I didn't expect but really appreciate. All of the flashing and vents were painted to match the color of the roof tiles. It's an extra touch that makes the roof more attractive and shows professionalism on the part of Eric and his crew.

Eric and his team did a beautiful job on our decks. His company Gafco was chosen based on previous reviews and exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend Gafco for their professionalism and quality of work.

We had Gafco rebuild our deck, front porch and repair our siding. After having issues with previous contractors, Eric and his crew were a breath of fresh air. We enjoyed working with everyone, William and Max were always on time and a pleasure to be around. Eric was on site to ensure things were running smoothly. We appreciate the quick communication and timely manner, in which everything was done. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we would recommend Gafco to everyone!

It went great! I am very pleased with how everything turned out. Eric and his crew were awesome.

Starting with Karlee in the office, to Eric the owner ... and everyone in between, the Gafco team was professional, quick and reliable. My husband and I are both busy professionals and the team worked to ensure that appointments were set to meet our schedules, leaving us with a sense that we were their priority. Their work is superb and we went from having the worst roof on the street to now having the nicest roof in our neighborhood!

Estimator came out gave us a bid on what we wanted and we accepted the bid. Install date was scheduled a few days later. Two young kids who were learning, for which I didn't mind, came out to put railing on deck. Took them longer then an experience person. But the kids did try and were very nice and polite. Now the owner was another story, was not impressed with him at all. He came out a couple times to see what was taking the kids so long and instead of getting in helping and showing the kids the right way, he just complained and yelled at them in front of us the customers. Plus stood there and paced back and forth giving dirty looks. I do understand how frustrating teaching some employees but the way he handled it was not right. Unfortunately my husband has had to fix several places on deck due to the hand rail coming off.

Eric was our third estimate and offered the best bid.  We really liked his friendliness and upfront no-nonsense approach.  There was no hard sell, he just explained what he would do, mentioned a few options and quoted the price.  Everyone working on the project worked very hard for many hours each day.  They were professional and reasonably tidy throughout the project.  We had two small requests after completion and Eric was great at making a couple of changes.  It was a pleasure doing business with GAFCO and I'd highly recommend them.

He did a fabulous job, the job was quick, and they cleaned up when they were done.  I've even recommended him to family and friends. We are very pleased.

Eric of GAFCO installed a new roof for us last month and presented a reasonable bid for painting the exterior of the house when he was finished.  He and his crew did a great job, cleaning, scraping, papering over the windows to keep them free of paint, laying down drop cloths to catch the scraped-off paint, and to protect the walkways around the house.  
They primed, sprayed and rolled two coats of the body paint and rolled the trim color.  They went back and touched up the places that didn't cover (there's always a couple of places like that), and cleaned up.  
The overall experience was very good.

 My house is 18 years old, built in 1995, and had a roof of thin cedar shingles.  There was skip-sheathing under them but no plywood.  

Eric's crew showed up on time, removed the old roofing materials, installed new plywood and composition shingles.  They protected the flowerbeds and landscaping and cleaned up after the job was finished.  The time estimated for this project was 3-4 days, but they finished before noon the second day.  

Eric was present during most of the project and he and his crew were very pleasant.  

We were so pleased with his work that we have hired him to paint the house.  Will write a review when that job is finished.

I was introduced to Eric George and Gafco last month when the roof on my house started to leak. I had never done any maintenance on the roof. I called a friend to get a recommendation and he recommended Eric George and Gafco.  They came out, repaired the roof. Replaced the roof cap and treated the entire roof.  Now my old roof looks like new (and my neighbors are jealous :) )

Well....my roof was not the only thing that had deferred maintenance. I also have 2 large decks that were rotting as well.

I was so impressed with Eric's work on fixing my roof that I called him up about fixing my decks.

Eric came out. Gave me a great bid and his crew started work the next day. The got the job done in 2 days like they promised and it looks great.

I am impressed.  I have hired Eric George and Gafco twice and both times they have done an impressive job.

 I have a house with a large shake roof and multiple peaks and valleys. I had not done any maintenance on the roof since i owned it. So, it was looking pretty shabby.  Sure enough, the roof started to leak.

 I asked around and a friend of mine told me about Eric and Gafco.

 I called Eric. He came out the same day and stopped the leak to prevent further damage.  He then did a thorough job of showing me all the damaged areas of my roof.  He made great recommendations. Replaced my roof cap, repaired the damaged areas, pressure washed the entire roof and then treated the roof so that it will last longer.

Gafco showed up on time.

The performed all the work within the time frame they estimated.

They performed all the work at the bid price with no extra cost overages.

I highly recommend Eric George and Gafco roofing for all of your roofing needs.

The company did an excellent job and considering this is my first time putting a new roof on and having the house painted, I felt the company was alway looking out for my best interest as a home owner.  Completely satisfied with the company and would recommend them to everyone. 

Eric came and cleaned around the skylights, filled in the few holes he saw then washed the roof and gutters.  He took away all the debris and cleaned up behind him.  I did have to wash several places where the gutter debris splattered the house.  Also felt that the very short time it took to fill in the holes, I paid a little too much compared to the other quotes. Next time I would definitely get more clarification on all details of the job so that both of our expectations are the same.

But in all, Eric is a hardworking young man and I would use him again.

I had used Gafco 10 years ago for roof cleaning services when it was a one man show.  I was happy then and happy now.  Eric has since built his company into a well-oiled machine.  His price was the best, the job was completed on time, and the end result was a beautiful product.  I own 4 homes and will continue to use Gafco for all future projects.

Eric and his crew were very punctual and professional.  He gave me a fair estimate and stuck to it.  They showed up on Tuesday and were finished by Thursday.  I didn't think they could complete the job in such a short amount of time but they did.  They  cleaned up and were gone by Thursday evening, and other than my beautiful new deck you would have never known they were there.  Finally, I would definitely hire this company again!!

Eric came to do an estimate for a new deck.  When we first meet him we felt comfortable with him.  He seemed to know what we where looking for right off.  I wanted to enlarge the deck and make it look good.  Eric helped us decide what kind of material to use on the deck for best performance and the best price.  I had one problem I was going to have a family deck party in 1 weeks so I wanted to have it done by then.  Eric said no problem.  



He had a crew that was available to start the next week.  The material was delivered the next monday and the job started on Tuesday morning.   They were finished in 8 days I felt the deck was built using good quality material.  Don and David were were the crew that did the work, Don is a master craftsman and works very by himself and with others.



The only problem I have is that Eric suggested that we put "Drawspace" by Timber Teck it did not seem to come out correct and I am trying to fix it up.



Over all I am very satisfied with the work and the results.  I would diffently hire this company again.  And the deck looks wonderful.

Gafco Roofing & Construction recently installed a roof over our house. They installed it in record time ( days) and were a great pleasure to deal with from start to finish.

When they first came over to give an estimate, Eric (the owner) guided us (the roofing impaired people) on the intricacies of roofing and the differences between a "good" roof and a "bad" roof. He made recommendations on what would suit our needs (essentially how he'd do his own roof - if in our shoes). Came back with the proposal the next day and the bid simply could not be beat (he encouraged us to look around).

When it was time to construct, he explained every process thoughtfully (and patiently) from start to finish. He explained each individual component and why it was chosen for our application. The man has passion! Every day when the work day ended, the crew always cleaned up and made sure things were nice and tidy (this is after a LONG day working) before leaving. We now easily have the best looking roof on the street.

Highly recommended (costs nothing to ask for an estimate/bid)!

I met Eric George of Gafco Construction at the Everett Home Show.  I was looking for quality work at an affordable price.  Three weeks after accepting his bid and with weather cooperating, I got that from Eric and his roofing team.  The team was personable and professional.  At the start of the job I was introduced to everyone, and each day I was notified when they started and when they quit.  They were hardworking and spent long days on the roof stopping to take only lunch breaks.  The team seemed to work well together and all had a positive attitude.  I was concerned about the waste material, and  watched to see how it was handled.  All waste material was kept on tarps that were emptied, picked up and folded away each day.  Sidewalks were swept and blown free of debris as well.  At the end of 4 days my old roof was gone, my new roof looked spectacular, and there was no trace of waste material.  I am very pleased with the roofing results and would highly recommend Gafco Construction.

It went well, They were punctual and the deck is gorgeous. We get complements on it all the time!

A 49 degree pitch on our roof made it difficult to find someone who will take on the job. Eric came on the same day I first contacted him and gave me an estimate on how much the job would cost. Came in on the day promised and took his time making sure all the moss are gone which turned out to be an all day cleaning. He also made sure the gutters are cleaned and then he power washed the driveway and cleared all debris. He left the site looking immaculate. Highly recommended!

I needed our roof cleaned on a short time line due to other work being done on the house. I called Eric, the owner of Gafco Roofing and Construction on a Monday, he came that night and gave us a bid and he came and did our roof that Saturday. He always called me back promptly when I called him, he showed up on time, and he is a very nice person to talk to and to deal with. The roof looks terrific, he rinsed the whole house off when he was done, and he noticed our chimney cap had blown off in the wind the previous winter and he fixed that for free. I would definately use him for any other construction project I may have in the future.
