I might add that there is a beautiful large cedar tree between our house and the house behind us. Although owned by the park owner, it has always been of fascination to several tenants due to its size and slightly different appearance than a western red cedar (some tenants thought it was a "sick" tree).
Dennis was able to narrow down what most likely is its species and reassured us of its health BUT most importantly, he let us know that our neighbor is at risk of some of its branches despite the park owner hiring someone to come out to trim the branches. I will be forwarding his report to the park management/owner.
It certainly pays to have an expert on hand to assess your investment and risks! We will use him in the future when we get ready purchase land or move onto a new mobile home lot. He is a very pleasant person and professional.
"Unfortunately this individual has confused my services with another company with a similar name."
"Unfortunately this individual has confused my services with another company with a similar name. I do not remove trees and do not recommend wind sailing. There is no scientific proof that it makes trees more safe. Trees have existed for decades without being wind sailed."
Since I had two Weeping Japanese Maples that needed attention, I requested that he contact me to schedule an appointment. He called me within a couple of days, was accommodating to my work schedule and the weather. He arrived promptly on Saturday morning and we went to work. I chose to work along side Dennis so I could learn for the future maintenance of my yard. My neighbor chose to explain her needs and let him be. He is a very informative person and willing to gracefully share his knowledge, without talking my ear off.
After we finished with the two front yard maples, we examined a sick cherry in the back yard. This was a three way cherry planted by the previous home owner. One of the 'added' branches had a lot of sap oozing during the last growing cycle. Dennis explained that it was infected and with the open cankers probably would put a strain on the root system without ever recovering. He also suggested that rather than trying to maintain the tree for fruit, that I consider it a gift to the birds and a nice accent to the yard. With that decision made the one branch was removed. The structure of the tree is still good and it provides some screening from the house across the alley when the leaves come in. He also explained that my prior attempts to prune the tree down in height had resulted in excess branching. Now I will only remove branches that are crossing, crowding the center or poking me in the eye when I work under the tree.
I was very satisfied with Dennis' work and will employ his services if necessary in the future. I also recommend him to all of my neighbors.
His education and experience as an arborist are hard to find. He came the next week, on a sunny afternoon, and pruned the selected trees, cleaned up after himself and even took the time to show me how to prune a low-growing shrub making it and eventually all it's row-mates look just as nice. He is a very nice gentleman who I will call back next year and also recommend to anyone.
I had read his articles about trees in the Enumclaw Courier-Herald over the years, and that is why I choose to call him. We recently purchased a home that we are remodeling, and the large landscape and gardens with many fruit trees had been neglected for many years, as well as damage from the ice storm a year ago.
Dennis pruned all of the fruit trees and many of the shrubs and trees in the landscaping, and they all look great now! He is very knowledgeable about trees and I was fascinated to listen to him talk. He obviously loves what he does, and it shows!
"Unfortunately, this excellent review does not pertain to my business. The individual's name is not in my business records and I do not perform the services he refers to. Hopefully Angie's representatives will work to have the review attributed to the appropriate business - likely another tree service with the name "EVERGREEN" in its title.."
