My wife and I moved into a new home in a newly-constructed neighborhood. Given the demand for landscaping in our area (4000+ new homes going in over the next half-dozen years) I was surprised that Courtney responded promptly to my request for a site visit and quote (another company never responded at all). Based on what I paid for a previous paver patio at my old house, and what a new neighbor paid for their landscaping, I thought that Courtney's bid was very reasonable. Courtney's team arrived when he said they would and completed the work by the date that he said they would. Per HOA rules, they cleaned up street-side at the end of each work day. After the job was completed Courtney came back at no expense to tweak one patio to get it just the way I wanted. CD Excavating does not do landscape design; they execute the design that you provide, which may include irrigation. They do not provide plants but will plant the ones that you provide. No contract or down payment required.

The work was done, as scheduled, while I was away. The new drain is working well. There was no mess and no fuss.

Courtney did great. He and his helper showed up on time the first day ready to work and got quite a lot accomplished. I was a little disappointed not to have some form of written agreement, although it wasn't necessary. As I told Courtney, "I don't know you" and I didn't know for sure if they were going to be there when we discussed. At the end of the day, he and helper Cliff did great, preparing the yard and doing everything we asked without any attitude. I sell home improvements and I make a lot of promises that our guys have to keep. It isn't easy. Courtney was spot on. He was on the job most of the time, only leaving to do dump runs, but leaving instructions for his help while gone.

Excellent - Courtney was very conscientious and professional despite an odd-ball neighbor who tried to interfere. Wall has been completed for a couple of weeks now, unsure of longevity. The only concern I have is drainage behind the main wall, I noticed only a relatively thin layer of gravel used at the base and no drain pipe, will this stand the test of time or the first heavy rain? I trust that Courtney knows his stuff and did what was needed so I did not question him about it. Other than that, the overall experience and the results are aesthetically pleasing and show pride in workmanship. I gave him a B on price because there was a Angie's List coupon that I relied on for calculating my cost but Courtney was not aware of its existence.

Courtney is honest, courteous, and patient. He came out, did a proper assessment, gave us a reasonable and accurate bid, and did fantastic work when we accepted. He started when he said he would, finished ahead of schedule, and did fantastic work. His crew was friendly and kind to my family - to my 4 year old daughter - and they cleaned up after themselves when done, leaving us with nothing but a fantastic new yard. It feels like a minor miracle occurred - we couldn't be happier. I'd recommend CD to anyone.

Courtney came out and bid what totally surprised me as about a third of what I expected on a yard that was uneven and had a 20 foot long by 15 food wide by 4 foot deep hole. The yard was a disaster. Also, he hauled away what would have been 7 regular truck loads of garbage, etc. from the yard for nothing but the cost at the dump. He did that as well as fill the hole and level most of the yard the first day. He installed railroad ties to shore up the side of the yard with rebar support. He dug and installed a drain pipe from the front of the house to the back to a drain field beautifully. He had 30 yards of dirt, which was my choice and cost extra for the dirt at my okay, and regraded the yard to a perfect level and sloping yard. At the end, he willingly let us tell him where to move the large boulders for ashetic purposes. In the end he brought in gravel and spread it in our drive access. The rest of that was the second day. The yard is ready for seeding and bark and we are thrilled. We would recommend him for any of these jobs highly and enthusiastically. He was competent, knowledgeable, and I felt trustworthy enough even so much that we gave him a key to the house so as to be able to access electricity and bathroom. He was the best person we could have called. The disaster of a yard is now an asset for us to sell this house.
