The work was done on time and to budget. The floors have never looked as good as they do now. We left town while the work was done, and when we returned, there was no chemical smell and there was NO DUST. Dan did a fantastic job; we will recommend his company to others, and we will use him again in the future. He even gave us information on which cleaning products to use and which ones to avoid.

We had concerns going in whether or not the previous owner using Euka oil would cause us problems with a refinish, we gave some of the oil to Dan for him to test out (to which his conclusion was it wouldn't be a problem if he buffed it) and hired him to do the floors. Prior to this, he gave no indication we could not be in our home until 3 days before he started (which sent us scrambling to find accommodations for our 3 dogs and ourselves) and our dogs couldn't be back for almost another week after he finished. After very stressfully (and at no small cost) fighting our way through these issued the finish on the floor never hardened and flakes off with no effort. We called Dan back to inspect which he did, and he stated he would give us our money back or put it towards redoing the floors entirely. We opted to get other bids as we weren't 100% confident in his abilities at this point, all of the bids were 2/3 or less the price of what he wanted including the refund! So after telling him we would like a refund, he disappears, and after I call him to ask about a refund (he is too good to return calls apparently) he decided he is NOT going to give us a refund and threatened ME with legal action! Its all too obvious he was just trying to get more work and money out of us. I would avoid this individual, he clearly is not a man of his word.

"Please enter what you would like the response to look like:Final text: This review written by [Member Name Removed] and [Member Name Removed] of Custer is both misleading and untrue. To start, I went over the logistics of the project several times with the [member name removed] as well as telling them that if they have any questions about the project to let me know. My initial recommendation to the Sherrits' was to replace their badly damaged fir floors but they wanted to go with the least expensive option which was a buff and coat of the existing floors instead. To be clear the work that we performed for the Sherrits' was not a full Refinish job (where we sand the floors down to raw wood and remove all of the old finish) but a buff and coat, this is a process where we lightly abrade the existing finish with a fine grit buffing screen and apply a top coat. When we perform a buff and coat over a existing finish we cannot warranty or guarantee the finish coat due to the fact that we do not know what the floors have been treated with in the past and there are certain cleaners and treatments that can cause issues with top coats (Murpys oil soap, wax, wax based cleaners), this is a inherent risk of going with a buff and coat and not a full refinish and I explained this in full to both [Member Name Removed] and [Member Name Removed]on several occasions (I am very forward about this risk whenever we are performing a buff and coat). Most of the work that we do are either full refinish jobs or new installations of raw wood which we sand and finish on site and we do offer a full warranty on both the finish and the craftsmanship for these services, if any potential clients have any concerns or questions about this situation I would be happy to openly discuss it with them, I would also be happy to provide references from many of the hundreds of happy clients that we have done work for in the past as well as the multitude of professional builders, designers and general contractors that we do projects for on a regular basis. Very well, Dan worked hard to make us happy. The quality of the workmanship and the quick responses to a minor fix made me want to recommend him to friends. Unfortunately, I have no friends. So much for word of mouth advertising! :-)

Dan did a great job. He kept a clean work site, and did a great installation job. We had some hold ups acquiring the flooring from the manufacturer and Dan kept us abreast of his schedule, when he could fit us in etc. The floors look great. He was very knowledgeable about install, care etc. Another contractor showed up to do an unrelated job and he mentioned how Dan was really great at restoration as well. The job was done on time, and in the budget he gave us. He also credited us for some work we did tearing out carpet before he got here. I will have him back to do some care on older wood floors at a later date.

First-rate contractor. Responsive, fair pricing, good communication, did work on schedule and in coordination with other contractors, and good attention to detail on the work. Friendly and professional throughout the process. Robbins was among the best of the dozen or so contractors on various projects I've worked with over the last couple of years.
Flooring is white oak, finished with oil-based poly. Carpet was removed and replaced with hardwood in 3 bedrooms, living room, and dining room. Existing hardwood in kitchen and halls was refinished.
Owner Dan Robbins performed the bid inspection and participated in the work. He was accommodating and met us after business hours for the bid, and was polite, professional, and thorough - asked good questions and made suggestions on options without pressure. Bid was completed quickly and pricing was at market rates.
They worked with us to coordinate with painters doing a separate job, and completed the work on schedule and to specifications. The finished job is beautiful and details such as transitions between new and existing floors were done seamlessly. Very satisfied with the work and would hire again without hesitation.

Great! Dan gave us great service from our first encounter to the end of the job.  He always gave us a good sense of the various options for flooring materials, finishes, etc., along with very clear cost breakdowns, answered any questions we had, and then gave us space to think about our options and get back to him once we'd settled on our preferred plan.  Dan always asked great questions to make sure he understood what we were looking for, and when we asked for his advice, it was always very helpful and provided good options for our needs: we never once had any worry that we were being upsold or talked into solutions that didn't meet our needs.
Dan's pricing was very fair: we got multiple quotes on the job initially, and Dan's was right in line with the rest, but his reliability, transparency, and soft-sell approach really set him apart.
Once we scheduled the job, Dan did a great job of keeping us posted on the timeline, and the work went exactly as planned, and right on budget.  The floors look great, and we couldn't be happier with the work or the experience, so we're definitely going to come back to Dan when it is time to do the floors downstairs!

This was a great experience; the whole process was wonderful.  Dan Robbins gave clear estimates, was on time and focused on our project until it was complete.  He worked fast, and the quality of his work was great.  There were two small spots that missed the finish coat and Dan was out immediately to fix them.  I can't tell where they were now.
When he came to do the touch ups, we had him measure to do the upstairs.  We like the results and Dan's work so well that we plan to continue up the stairs to the second level.

Dan Robbins is very professional and best of all he is on site to manage his jobs which for us was extremely important. His crew are his employees and they work hard to provide a quality end product. We were happy with the work and without hesitation would use Robbins again. It is also important to know that Dan has invested in the dustless technology sanding products. We still put items away, covered furniture etc., and didn't regret doing so because a fine grit is unavoidable. Another local flooring company had us hiring a mover to move all our things into garage. Besides the additional expense, this would have been a huge hassle.

Dan Robbins did everything he said he would do.  Started on the agreed upon date, finished right away (it was a three day process to refinish and seal the floors.  The floors look great!  Excellent work quality and everything as promised.

I emailed Dan Robbins via Angie's List, and he responded very quickly.  He came out and gave me a written estimate for removing carpet and installing hardwood flooring in one room of my house.  Dan knew at a glance what kind of wood my existing hardwood floors were made of, and found wood that matched perfectly.  His crew had the carpet out and the floor laid in one day.  Two more days for varnishing  and polishing, and the job was done.  Dan was friendly, professional, and efficient.  I was very happy with his services, and would recommend him to anyone.

Dan was on time, professional and knowledgable. He took our old, dirty, chipped and scratched floors and restored them beautifully. He also consulted with me before going ahead with any patches or work that might increase the cost and duration of the project, which I appreciated. He finished on schedule and I will definitely use him in the future for all our hardwood needs! Thanks, Dan!

Arrived on time each time in the refinishing process.  No dust, low odor, reasonable pricing, and a very nice looking refinish job.
Will have him do additional work when other projects are completed.
