Home Built 2017 First Leak Detected 2022 - Several months outside of 5 year warranty Did not offer to inspect or repair. Axiom came out next day to inspect and within 2 days my roof was repaired (for that leak). Second Leak Detected End of 2022 - Will not attempt to call Joosten's Roofing. When I called about the first leak, Joosten's roofing was very adamant to convey the idea that if roof is outside of warranty, it's not their problem. I understand that a warranty expiration exists, but I expected at least some interest to figure out why it was leaking, or at least offer to come out to see if it is something to do with material (longer warranty from manufacturer), but nothing was offered. Based on that response, I question how worthwhile their warranty is. I can only imagine the effort I would have to put in to get the leak addressed within a reasonable time (what hoops would I need to jump through?) Definitely gave me the feeling that they don't stand behind their work. First leak was material and installation defect. Several other obvious installation defects found in the immediate vicinity of first leak, and rectified. Second Leak - TBD. Honestly, I'm just disappointed and expected better from folks that represent themselves as a family company. I have had great service and professionalism from this company as well as extremely competitive pricing. I'm really surprised to see any negative reviews. I've referred these folks to many others and they have all been satisfied. As of this date , they are licensed. The Angie's list information is incorrect. The reason I'm writing this review is that I was in the process of referring Joostens to a friend and former client and I knew he would check Angie's list as well. The price below is per roof pricing . They have so courteously answered my questions and helped my real estate clients over the years, I wanted to jump in and return their many favors.

I was just getting ready to give a good friend a referral to Joostens roofing and was curious what the Angie's list reviews looked like. I was surprised to see their B rating because in my experience they deserve an A rating. They are responsive and professional and the price was substantially under other roofers. Being in property management and a realtor, I have used this company several time over the last 25 years personally and have always been very satisfied with their work. As a real estate agent, they were the company I most often referred clients to . I've never heard any disappointment with their work so it's surprising to me that there were any negative reviews. It's incorrect that they are not licensed. I checked today on the State Licensing website and they are licensed.

Insufficient underlay. Shingles flew off during routine windstorm. Bad leaking around doormer. Debris left around house. Shingles are buckling in places.

Joostens Roofing is an excellent roofing company. I had gotten an estimate for replacing my roof in 2013 but did not follow through. When I contacted them in early 2014, Paul Joosten agreed to do the job for the price he had quoted earlier. His crew was professional. Paul's dad came by several times to check up and when I casually mentioned an issue I'd had with some prior work by another company, he fixed that too. The crew did excellent work on the roof and their cleanup was excellent. I have a friend who checks my gutters and he has told me the new roof is excellent. So nice to hear.

Joosten's did an excellent job. It was a complete roofing replacement. We received 3 bids for the roof replacement and they were the lowest and were recommended by several people I work with. The new roof looks awesome!

Great communication from first call to site clean up. The work crew was respectful and tidy. The job was completed in exactly the time scheduled. I would definately recommend this company. My neighbors say my house looks ten years younger.

John, the estimator was prompt to come to our house. He listened well, and answered clearly all the questions we posed to him. We were especially interested in the details of various brands and quality of roofing materials, and he explained all patiently and thoroughly. He prepared the estimate and handed it to me even before he backed out of the driveway.
A couple of days later, after we had visited the roofing supply wholesaler and had chosen the type and color of new roof we wanted we contacted John and said we wanted Joostens to do the roof, assuming that the work would be done toward the end of the next month, as indicated in our initial conversations. John informed us that a previously scheduled job had been postponed, and that there was an opening beginning the following Monday (this was on Thursday, I think). He said the job would be completed withing 3 days. We immediately agreed, and at 7:30 Monday morning the truck with a load of material and workers showed up.
We were impressed with the workers: when they were actively working, they worked fast and hard. When they took breaks, they did not rush. This was during a particularly hot spell, and we were glad that the workers had plenty of water and also helpful relaxation time. The first day, they were on the job for 12 hours, and the second day as well, with additional crews appearing during the middle of the second day. By the end of the second day, nearly all of the work was completed save the gutter installation and re-roofing our garden shed. By noon of the third day (July 3), all work was complete, the yard, decks, and driveway were thoroughly cleaned, and the workers presumably were able to begin their holiday early.
Overall, we are highly satisfied with the appearance and workmanship of the new roof. I would not hesitate to recommend Joostens Roofing. We received two other bids; all bids were in the same range price-wise, and we went with Joostens based on a neighbor's recommendation, reviews on Angie's List, and especially the highly professional way the estimating process was conducted. The bonus of having the job completed nearly a month earlier than first anticipated served to reinforce that we made the right decision.

They were pretty spectacular. The estimating process was very personal. And, when they actually started the work, the workers were just diligent. They worked hard and they did an excellent job. I was really happy with the result. They do good work.

Gave them a B- Would have gave them A+ if they would have cleaned up all of the messy sawdust that made their finished job look less than professional, I had to clean it up myself, on the roof. Other problems were related to leaving lots of nails in gravel drive way and other small issues. Overall a good company but needs to better job in the end clean up.

They did a great job. Yes they had a Latino crew. Yes taking 60 years of roofs off makes a mess. But it was cleaned up far better than when they had started...

roofers had limited english, very very difficult to communicate . Blocked entrance tohome, wife tried to sqeese by shrubbery to enter ,badly scratched herself and bled.All nails were not picked up, car tire was punctured , I stepped on a

nail and punctured my foot. He did reimburse me for tire repair. All shingles are not flat,he said that is OK. This is true to best of my recollection.

After getting bids from four different Whatcom County roofing companies, we made the decision to hire Joostens Roofing. Their reasonable bid, consistent responsiveness and high ratings on Angies List influenced our decision. John personally spent quality tiime going over details of the contract with us before signing and was consistently responsive to any phone calls I made before, during and after the completion of the roofing of our home and garage. The three man crew were polite, professional and hard working. They were thorough with replacement of rotten wood and daily clean up. The reroofing of our home and garrage was completed within two days and looks great. No extra costs were added to the original bid on our final bill. John is an excellant representative for the company. His knowlegible attention to detail, daily attendance on site and pleasant personality was a plus.

He came out personally, did the survey, and talked about the roof. The way he talked and his interaction was a good interaction. It wasn't impersonable. He looked like somebody who would do a good job. He was competent in his decision of the roof when I asked questions. He's not the cheapest, but he has a good low price. They were going to replace my roof in the middle of winter, and I didn't think it was a good idea. They just waited for a sunny day. I didn't have to wait until spring or summer to get it done.

They said that Joostens Roofing did a good job, but the clean up was not done as nicely as they had wanted.

They were very good. I spent $550. I would definitely use them again in the future.

My century-old 2-story frame house (25'x60') still had the original wood shingles and 1-layer of heavy asphalt shingles -- beyond the end of their service life. I'd watched Joostens' crew on another house and was impressed. They gave me a professional-quality proposal last year, which they updated for work this summer. Considering the difficulty of removal and very tight (37-ft) urban lot-size, I considered it reasonable -- based on a similar job in another state.

The work was scheduled for this summer, around my time in Bellingham. After a preliminary meeting to resolve access issues and details, I cleared everything with my neighbors, who agreed with the plan. The crew (3 to 7-workers) were on-time and very hard working. One rainy day disrupted the schedule which took longer than originally expected -- okay by me. Due to very limited yard space, old-roof debris spilled into the neighbor's yards -- no problem, tarps and end-of-day clean-up were generally excellent. The material supplier delivered shingles directly to the roof. I provided two electrical outlets, bathroom access and was readily available for questions or expediting.

Each quarter-roof was stripped and re-closed separately, complex porch roofs were last. Dirty roof debris was generally hauled off each night. Old gutters were removed. After stripping, the old skip-sheeting was inspected and re-nailed, with a few rotted edge-boards replaced. Fascia-boards were totally replaced with new 5/4 fascia (eliminating a long on-going gutter problem). I pre-painted the fascia. New 7/16 OSB sheeting was fitted neatly, power-stapled to the old skip-sheeting. Penetrations were flashed. New (30-yr Certainteed Landmark) shingles were hand-nailed over 15# roll underlayment. The Trimline ridge-vent is okay. Minor soffit repair will be by painters next year.

Joostens occasional on-site supervision and communication with me was good -- problems easily resolved, in part due to very cooperative neighbors. On the last day they worked into the evening to finish and move-out. Seamless gutters were (screw) installed by a sub-contractor to Joostens. The job took a full week -- a-bit longer than expected; but the crew worked hard, doing quality work.

The new roof is a huge relief, and and quot;feelsand quot; great. Overall the project was well-run and went very well, pre-planning and communication minimized problems. I'm satisfied and would do it again.

Joosten's foreman three times came when he said he would...once to inspect the job for bidding, the second to pick up a shingle for matching, and the third to discuss the job with me. The price was competitive. Materials were delivered on Monday, and the job begun early Tuesday. Because there were three men on the job, the entire roofing job was completed in one day, which was great since that one clear day was followed by a day of steady rain. The workers were polite and hard-working. Clean-up was thorough. No sign of any leakage. I'm pleased with Joosten's work!

Four years ago, we hired Joosten's to completely replace the roof on a house we had just bought. They stripped off the old roof and replaced all the plywood sheeting. They did not tell us about serious rot problems underneath the old sheeting, but simply covered it up with new plywood. Additionally, they did not install stepped flashing in certain areas that (we know now) should have been flashed. As a result, water leaked into a back closet that is rarely used and was full of belongings. Because we seldom use that closet, it took us a long time to discover the issue and by that time we had a severe mold problem. All the sheetrock in that closet (an area of about 120 sq feet) had to be removed and replaced. We discovered the rot under the sheeting when we hired a different company to replace out gutters. This company discovered severe rot in our rafters, and also saw where the roofers had simply shoved in new, short lengths of wood, but had not made any repairs. As I said, we were not informed by Joosten's of the situation nor given the opportunity to make a decision about what to do. Now we are facing extensive repairs. I do not blame Joosten's for the rafter rot, obviously, but I do blame them for a shoddy, unprofessional job and for withholding information that we needed. And I do blame them for the leak that caused the black mold to grow. Our family has had health consequences from living with the mold, and we have no way of knowing how much MORE damage was done to our rafters because they were not replaced four years ago. Also, and most unbelievably, when we contacted Joosten's and asked them to come out and see the damage we were talking about, they refused to do so and hung up the phone on us. Based on that interaction, I filed a complaint with the better business bureau, and forwarded a copy to Mr. Joostens office. Mr Joosten called us on our home phone and began to berate my husband with racial slurs (my husband is Mexican) telling him to "go back where you came from" and that he had better back off or he - Mr. Joosten - would "sic immigration" on him. The fact that my husband is in reality an American citizen is of no consequence. Mr. Joosten believed that we were vulnerable to his extortion and apparently would rather bully and harass his clients than address their valid complaints. I have filed a complaint against his license and contacted an attorney, but I feel it is my duty to warn the public about this company's poor workmanship and truly appalling "customer service."
