At first there were a lot of papers to get together, but, then the process went smoothly, we did most work via emails, and the phone.

Everything went well until closing. The day after labor day we were called by the title company that we needed to sign that day, because the "rate lock" would expire. It turned out that that was not correct, and closing a day or two later would have been OK. When I enquired with the loan officer why we were called at the last minute she said that the Title Co had the documents on Friday (actually it was 6:00 p.m. on friday before labor day). I pointed this out,and she said "they had them on Frday". On tuesday (the day we went into sign the documents) my employer (part time seasonal work) had received a call asking for "verification of employment" for a real-estate partnership that has nothing to do with the work I do for this employer, and anyone in the mortgage industry should have known that this type of partnership isn't an "employer relationship". This was after the paperwork had already been forwarded to the Title Company.
