My experience with Barrett Transmissions was better than any vehicle service company I’ve been to. They are extremely helpful, knowledgeable, professional, and very reasonably priced. I went in there for my project truck I’m working on (1981 Chevy K10) and they explained how messed up my transmission was along with other components. They were able to have my truck done in a few days and it was awesome to have a smooth transmission again. I went in a few months later to have them look at a transmission issue for my Honda and they told me that it was actually my electrical system not my transmission that was bad. Their honesty and integrity stands apart from any other shop! If you or someone you know needs transmission work done, these are the guys to go to!

NO CHARGE! These guys are real professionals and honest to the max. My 2009 KIA Sorrento was stuck in high gear (automatic transmission/4WD). They took the vehicle for a test drive (the problem was not evident when I took it in), checked the computer error codes to confirm the high gear "limp mode" had happened, traced potential issues, looked at the transmission, checked for rodents having eaten the wiring harness, and then said it was okay for now, but to check back with them if the problem presented itself again. I asked if I should have my transmission fluid changed and they looked at it to determine that it was okay and then said no, it is a life time fluid if it does not get burned from internal transmission issues (band slipping, etc.). They educated me and and did not try to up sell me or sell me something I did not need. This is really rare in the industry and they then said NO CHARGE, even though I protested and said they should charge me something, even beer money. I would recommend these guys to everyone and I would feel safe having my wife take the car in, knowing they would not take advantage of a woman. Rate them the highest in all categories.

Barrett's service was first rate, going above and beyond in dealing with a difficult rebuild for this newcomer to the Bellingham area. After the initial rebuild, I kept getting the same shift solenoid error, forcing me to return to Barrett at least four times. With patience, good humor and a completely professional attitude, they basically rebuilt the entire rebuild with all new components until the problem was resolved. I also had them do a routine service check on my 2011 Honda Fit. They are now the go-to guys in Bellingham for all three of my vehicles....

Finished sooner than estimated, charged exactly what quoted and topped it off with a parking brake repair complimentary that several other mechanics in town had turned away saying it that they were not equipped to handle. Mark Barrett is a prime example of a good, professional honest business man and mechanic.

I can't speak highly enough about them. The staff is very helpful and very professional, and understanding of my situation. I am on disability and so I have very limited income.

unbelievable price, workmanship and customer service. Car broke down in Smokey Point. Had it towed to BArrett since had excellent referrals. Mark at Barrett found problem first day car there even though they had lots of other business already started. They found parts and when he called to say done and told me price, I thought he forgot a couple thousand. Honest trustworthy and thorough.

My Mountaineer has 90,000 plus miles and suddenly would not go into reverse. They quickly analyzed the problem and informed me as to the details and price of repair/replacement.They fixed it as they said and stayed within the estimated cost. My Mountaineer now runs like a new car.

We run a summer day camp. One of our vans broke down in Bellingham, halfway between our home base near Seattle and our destination. Knowing no one in Bellingham, we searched the internet for an auto repair facility, found Barrett Transmission, and arranged for our van to be towed there. With no recommendations about their competence,or integrity, our expectations were low. As it turned out, they fixed the vehicle quickly and completely and charged about a fourth of what we expected. The owner was very personable and professional.
