They were great. Mary and Max came out to our home one evening and sketched out a complete design for the lighting of our front yard. We requested this both for aesthetic and safety reasons (outdoor steps that could easily lead to falls). They worked with us for about three hours and completed a comprehensive plan to accomplish these objectives. A couple of months later they came out and implemented the plan. My wife and I are absolutely delighted. Both objectives were masterfully satisfied. The front of the house is beautifully but very subtly highlighted. The pavers and stairways are easy to identify. The whole project looks absolutely great. Real professionals and a great company. Give the a call.

Diagnosed and recommended next step

Mary Peterson, CEO & Lead Designer, and her assistant arrived early in the window promised. This is an interior LED landscape (in the atrium) lighting, five lights with one not working - I already determined it was not the bulb. Mary quickly isolated the problem, a faulty junction, replaced the part and made a new run to the fixture- let there be light! Both were friendly, efficient and restored the garden so that you could not notice what work had been done. I hope I don't need NOL again but if I do, I will call them first. Which reminds me, A large local lighting company gave me five recommendations for someone to work on this problem. I contacted three of them and none of them returned my inquiry. I called Northwest Outdoor Lighting on my own and received a call back the next morning. I will be contacting that lighting company and insist they add Northwest Outdoor Lighting to their list of recommendations.

We hired Northwest Outdoor Lighting to install landscape lighting up our driveway, (not your typical runway lights) and around our lawn. Mary recommended several different types of lights to accent trees, chimney, wood shed, garage and seating area. We purchased 34 lights. The improvement to our property is beautiful, receiving many compliments for our neighbors. One two occasions since the installation a couple of the cables came to the surface, they were not buried deep enough. Mary and her team were out the next day to make it right. We recommended. Looks pretty with the snow!

Northwest Outdoor Lighting is the gold standard of exterior lighting services. I spent more than three years searching for a company up to the challenge of artistic and dramatic lighting of our home site which is heavily forested with mature Douglas Firs -- tall skinny trees with not much foliage if any at eye level. I found Northwest Outdoor Lighting (NOL) through the network of experts in the Washington State University Extension Master Gardener program for Jefferson County. From my first email inquiry, I knew that this was a company unlike so many in the landscape and residential improvement sectors: President Mary Peterson immediately responded personally, with specific relevant and responsive information, and invited an immediate move forward. I knew even before the initial on-site consultation that this was a company I could work effectively with and from that moment until this, with our new exterior lights on, there has not been a single moment of frustration or disappointment with NOL. And here is why this NOL client is so wholly satisfied and thrilled with this company: 1. At the initial consultation, Ms. Peterson LISTENED intently to our descriptions of the results we were after and then by herself walked our property. It was clear from the very beginning that there was no plan to offer us a cookie-cut standard collection of safety/malibu/homeowner special lights that I could have had through a big box store or the neighborhood landscape service. It is my experience that such skilled listening is a rare and wonderful skill. 2. Shortly after the initial consultation, Mary returned after dark with a proposed design and equipment that allowed her and Craig Peterson -- master of the intersection of technical know-how and artistic design -- to demonstrate every single detail of NOL's proposed design. Together my husband and I and Mary and Craig walked about an acre of our property, examining the nuances of the effects of each and every proposed light site, adjusting specific angles and intensities, customizing every detail of the design to enhance the specific features of our property. This attention to detail and complete commitment to getting it just right as we wanted was, in my experience, extraordinary. But even those qualities were surpassed by the sheer genius of the proposed design. 3. Words almost fail me in summarizing the brilliance and artistry of the design created for us by Northwest Outdoor Lighting. Somehow Mary and Craig knew just which trees to light, just which direction and angle to catch, just which structures on our site could be glorious after dark. And they knew what not to light as well -- a real hallmark of artistic integrity and experience. Our exterior lighting design is not just simply perfection, it is art. 4. I should also tell you that installation went smoothly --literally issue/problem-free. I have never before had that experience in any home project and I am an experienced home rehab/renovate veteran with six long-term projects under my belt. Even tiny details were attended to by NOL-- the color of our utility box, for example. Old lighting was collected and removed. 5. Finally, you need to know that Mary and Craig are engaging, warm, nice, interesting people who are a pleasure to work with. I wish they lived across the street from me. In providing reviews of any service provider, I always try to offer constructive suggestions to improve the service or to give the homeowner an assist in managing the project. I can't do that here because I don't know how this company could be any better at what they do. Let me summarize with this: I live on three acres of God's country and one of those acres is now beautifully and tastefully lighted. One down, two to go. As soon as I am ready for the second phase, I will make just one phone call. You cannot do better for exterior landscape lighting than Northwest Outdoor Lighting.

They did a great job. They were creative and professional. We implemented all of their suggestions and added some of our own ideas. Now, at night, our driveway and front yard looks like a beautiful park and is a great addition to our property. We couldn't be more pleased. It was pricy but something we've wanted to do for years and well worth the cost. We'd recommend them to anyone.

They were awesome! We absolutely love the work they did, and so appreciate the new technology (LED) with no more bulb replacements. They understand the technology, and really have a great artistic sense of how to enhance landscape and natural features. Would highly recommend them.

AMAZING! Mary and Craig and their team were like a choreographed dance troupe. Not only did they present us with options that fit our property but their extensive experience in the field was like going to the top physician. They knew what would work and what wouldn't. They gave us an architectural drawing of what it would look like. We ended up with almost 40 lights and the property looks like it should be in a garden magazine. They also monitor their work yearly to make sure lights are working, roots haven't messed up lights or other issues. The installation was flawless and they finished in just one day. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best we'd give them a 20!!!!!!!!!!

Loved them! They brought lights once it got dark out and we could see exactly how many and what kind we wanted. I have a plan for the back yard as well, but we only did the front this time. Great people, easy to talk to and I will definitely be using them again.

Mary was lovely to work with, her designs were great, the lights she carries are good quality, and she was helpful, responsive, thorough, and the work was done quickly. However. The installation required some electrical work to put a transformer on the outside of the house. NW Outdoor Lighting apparently does not have an electrician on staff, and I don't have an electrician I prefer, so I contacted the guy Mary recommended. He failed to return my calls entirely, so she ultimately contacted him and arranged for him to come do the work while she and her team were installing the lights. He did part of the work but needed a part that he didn't have with him, told me he'd be back the next day to finish up, and I never saw or heard from him again. Eventually I hired another electrician to finish the job. So overall I would definitely recommend NW Outdoor Lighting, but if you need an electrician, hire your own.

This couple is very responsive, knowledgable and such nice people. They did high quality work, well worth the cost. When we booked them, they promised a mid-December date, but were able to do the work a month earlier, a nice bonus.

I was really impressed on a number of levels. These guys are speccialists. They know their stuff and do great work. I instantly wished I had hired them to do my project in the first place rather than using a general landscaping company that does lighting as an add-on. (I knew so little about outdoor lighting that I didn't realize there were specialized companies.) Given that I had already pretty much spent my budget, what really impressed me is NW Outdoor Lighting was willing to work with my situation. Mary understood I needed to "make do" with what I already bought rather than pushing me to replace with stuff I can't afford at the moment. She redesigned with it, giving thought to getting the greatest value from it. When I can afford to upgrade and add to my outdoor lighting, I will definitely be calling Mary. I was also impressed and pleased with Craig's resourcefulness in getting my wires inside my brick columns. I turned out to be pretty tricky and many would have given up and said, "Sorry, lady." With some serious determination, Craig made it happen. Yay! Really made my day.

They came over within a few days of calling, quickly diagnosed the issues and proposed a very simple solution.  They did have to order parts, as our system is not new.  About a week later they came back, corrected all the damage and left us with an improved system.  They were both a charming couple and very professional.  You really could not ask for better contractors.
