Did a great job at restoring my great grandmother's vintage lamps and were helpful with picking out new shades. A little bit on the pricy side but they did a very nice job and customer service was friendly and helpful.

Fine. They said it could take six to eight weeks to be fixed which was a long time, but it took less than they said.

It went very well and I am pleased to have the lamp back in working order. Although they are across town from my home,I went to Harold's as they have a long-standing excellent reputation.  I am pleased with the service I received and I'd certainly use Harold's Lighting again.

Took personal lamp to Harold's in mid-November for rewiring and switch repair. I was told it might be four weeks due to backlog which was understood. In two weeks I received a call saying the lamp was ready. It was in good repair and the price was reasonable.
I would use Harold's again and my thanks to the staff for the speedy repair during the holiday season.

. When i couldn't find a pendent light fixture I liked for my hallway Joel Hansen, the installer for Harold's Lighting in Bellevue, said he could paint my old fixture (in their store) and bring it back and hang it for me for $100. He would do this when he was coming out to put up other fixtures that I'd purchased from their store at the same time. He did not give me any receipt, though, so I wrote all the info down myself. When he came back to do the job...which I must say he did carefully and competently....he just verbally told me the charge - as he was rushing off to someplace else. I was shocked that the price was much more that we had agreed on but I paid him because he was in a hurry and I could not find my receipt to prove this. Later I did found it and called him. He gave some vague answer about a and quot;trip chargeand quot; and other nebulous fees There had been NO trip charge for his previous visit to do a fixture installation so why now, I asked? I also said $125 seemed a lot for driving from Bellevue to West Seattle. I maintained that he over charged me based on what I'd written down. He had nothing written to counter but he still would not refund the difference. Later I emailed him breaking down - exactly in laymen's terms - what his original estimate was and how these extra fees did not make sense. I was absolutely clear with him why I believed he was in error.... no response. Finally I called one more time to say that his charge was incorrect and that I expected to be refunded the difference. He continued to state no!. He had cashed my check and that was that! I even told him I was a member of Angie's list and that I would write a review of his practices. He doesn't care! I believe he doesn't use receipts or invoices for this very reason. .. So he can charge whatever he and quot;feels likeand quot; on a particular day! I doubt he even pays taxes on this income. He is not trustworthy. I have learned my lesson. Even seemingly simple jobs need written agreements.
Response from Joel’s Lamp Repair
"[member name removed], We are sorry for the issue you had with the work and installation of your chanedlier. Harold's did not repair, paint or install your chandelier. You contracted the work to be done independently by an employee after hours, this transaction was not directly through our company. We are sorry for any misunderstanding you had with the employee / installer. We will discuss the issue with the employee to see what happened, but any charges you paid were paid directly to him and thus Harold's has no direct connection to the original quotes or final transaction. Please accept our apology for any confusion that transpired between you and the employee, and hopefully we can help you in the future with your lighting needs."

The lamp's switch was no longer working, took it in and they said it would be 2-3 weeks. But he called the next day to say it was ready - yay! Down side: $55 for a simple fix.

I also purchased two new floor lamps from Harold's (their website selection is almost overwhelming, and I can highly recommend it for selection of new lamps). I spent close to $1,000 on these two new lamps. I needed to have them delivered together and installed in my home. Each new floor lamp had to be assembled. At the same time, the floor lamp that was to be repaired was to be taken to their store for repairs. This cost me an extra $85 for delivery and set-up (the fee was $85 per hour). When the repaired floor lamp was delivered to my home several weeks later, it cost me another $85 even though it took just several minutes to secure the glass top and plug the lamp in. The first $85 was understandable, but it seems to me that after I spent all that money on two new lamps, they could have delivered the repaired lamp free of charge, or for quite a bit less. The selection of new lamps at Harold's is excellent, and I'm hoping the repair work is the same, but the overall and quot;customer serviceand quot; at Harold's could be improved. Harold's actually does not offer delivery/set up--it is done on an independent basis by the owner's son. Even so, this is still part of Harold's and quot;customer serviceand quot; and reflects on them.

This was the second time in 5 years this lamp was in to this company for repair (used the University District store the first time.) If it has to be repaired a 3rd time, we will get rid of the lamp. It took 3-4 weeks to get the lamp back . . . much longer than we had expected. The quality of this repair will depend upon how long it lasts. Having said that, it is a Pottery Barn lamp and they are notorious for relatively poor workmanship.

elleThe three way switch in my lamp was not working. I was offered to replace the 3 way switch and have the lamp rewired for $40. This would also give me a year warranty on the work. I chose to just have the switch replaced and forego the warranty.

I had recently had work done on the floor lamp when it was Kennedys (December 2011). Mr. Kennedy told me that the switch needed to be replaced, but I decided to delay the work. When I called back in January, 2012, I found out that Harolds had taken over the operation. Harolds promised the work would be done in about a week and that worked out to be true. I did not ask for an estimate (probably should have). Harolds called 6 days later and said the lamps could be picked up. I was surprised that it cost $150, but that may be a good price as I did not ask anyone else for an estimate either.

I brought the lamp in and explained that the wiring was ancient and frayed and when I plugged it in I got no light! They said it would take about 7-10 days, but they finished the job in about 3 days! It works well and is a lovely antique addition to our home.

they were very nice...stayed late to let me drop it off (I got stuck in traffic and called to notify them in advance). They did the work on schedule and called me for pick up. It works fine now. There was a small ding on the legs of the tripod I noticed when I got home. It may have occured in shop or during transport? It has a special finish that can not be just touched up :-( so I didn't tell them. Their price seemed high to do this work but the lamps are a pair and quite valuable so I paid the price

I brought in my lamp and was given an estimate of cost and time for repair. I got a call two days later letting me know when it would be ready and the final cost - the cost was exactly the same as the estimate. I picked up the lamp two days later and was amazed at the refurbishing they accomplished. It is no longer just a sentimental item but will be placed prominantly in my home for its esthetic value. Who knew the old thing was so pretty?

The work went well. They did the work much faster than expected and for much less than I expected to pay. My only complaint is that they replaced a cord with a bright yellow cord. I could have easily obtained the right color if he had contacted me. He suggested that I dye the cord. I did and it looks fine.

THE LAMP WOULDN'T GO OFF, OR ON, AND HE HAD TO REPLACE THE SOCKET. HE DOES GOOD WORK. HE HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR A LONG TIME. I THINK IT'S A ONE-MAN OPERATION. HE CAN TELL YOU THE PROS AND CONS ABOUT IT, WHETHER IT'S WORTH FIXING OR NOT. I CAN'T FIND ANOTHER LAMP LIKE THIS AND HE TOLD ME THAT THIS WASN'T A FOREVER REPAIR. IT WILL PROBABLY GO BAD AGAIN, HE GAVE ME A GOOD EXPLANATION AND I LIKED THAT.
