It took a month or so to complete. There was 2-4 at different times. Then they had the painters come that were a whole crew of 4 guys, and the gutter people were 2 guys so it differs. My first impression was an A.
I would definitely use this company again for any construction/remodel job I need. I would recommend them to friends and neighbors without any hesitation. A very trustworthy and reliable company!
I was especially impressed that they were able to complete the bulk of the project (minus my added changes) in the time period I needed so that I would not have to be out of my home or board my dogs and cats longer than initially anticipated. I know it's a minor detail to most people but my pets are a huge part of my life and the fact that they understood and worked with me to accommodate their needs was appreciated. If they are willing to work with my quirks as a client and do a great job, I know they will handle any requests professionally, promptly and with understanding.
The only issue we had was the carpet install because the carpet arrived from the manufacturer with a defect that I didn't notice until it was pointed out to me. Had they not shown me I probably would have never noticed but they did and then replaced the carpet twice until it met their standards.
I would also like to add that I dealt with a number of personal family matters (including losing my mom) recently and Sean, Adam and their team were very understanding and compassionate.
They are a great company who do quality work!
Adam (Project Manager) is extremely knowledgeable and reliable, a true professional. Timing was key on all of my projects (remodeling a home with 3 little kids around is not ideal) and was impressed by the quality of work they were able to provide in the timeframe given. Give them a call and make your dream a reality!
"Hi [removed member name], We really enjoyed working with you and your family! Although we do not typically work in your area, this was a unique situation and I know for a fact that the guys enjoyed staying on your property on the coast during the remodel! Thank you for taking the time to write a review and thank you for your hospitality and the opportunity to work with you. Everyone, including our designer, though your project turned out amazing!"
"[Member name], Thank you once again for the opportunity to work with you and for taking the time to write a review. We very much appreciate our longstanding relationship with you and feel very honored that you continue to call us when you have remodeling needs. I believe it has been about a year since we remodeled your upstairs bathroom so please let us know when you would like us to come out for our annual "warranty walk" and address any issues we see if needed!"
Sean and I got on both phone call and email communications. We setup our first appointment and walked around the house for things I want to be done. He answered a lot of my other questions and gave me advice on what other maintenance work I might need to be done to the house in the future. Between our emails and phone calls, Sean showed his professionalism, knowledge around house construction and was patient in explaining things.
His co worker Adam came on site took a look at the job site before they start working. They had three guys came in and replaced the siding in a day. Work all complete in the time they promised when Sean gave out the estimate.
One small issue is that while doing he job I had a window AC unit right below the siding they replaced. Debris from moving away the siding all got into the AC and my AC was less than a week old. This happened even I called Sean before they start working on the house. Sean said their guy would remove the AC and put back tougher after that job complete. Because this did happen and after I communicated with Sean they were happy to give a credit or a new AC unit. They also admit that they should do better site preparation next time.
I would highly recommend Sean for your construction needs they are reliable, fast and do quality works. I think you will be glad that you choose them.
"Hello [member name removed], We feel bad that you did not have a good experience with our company, every job we strive to do the best job possible for our clients. We missed a detail on the plans and we corrected it. The bill was also higher than you had anticipated but in all fairness you had us do a substantial amount of additional work that was outside of our initial agreement and that helped drive those costs. Thank you for taking the time to write the review, your feedback will help make us a better company."
- 1) Timeliness of the bid. Due to an unexpected need to check for asbestos, the GC bid was one day late (which I basically considered, "on time" due to the change, while the other bid was five days late. This was important to us, since the house was open to the weather and drafts.
- 2) GC's bid stated to repair/replace 10+ trusses, while the other only stated 6. A simple look into the attic showed that there would be more than six trusses to repair or replace.
- 3) GC asked for time to get his various subs into the house to give their estimates- an engineer for the trusses, roofing, drywalling, electric, and paint.
- 4) My wife was impressed by the concern/level of attention to detail during the bidding process.
Work commenced on 2 December with some of GC's workers helping us pack and move the rooms that would be affected into a temporary storage container. Because of the level of damage to the roof structure, the work would involve removal of the roof from one end of the house down to and including the ceiling, meaning that three bedrooms, the hallway, and two bathrooms would be open to air, with one of the bedrooms needing to be gutted to the studs. The demolition work was completed within the week, and soon after, we had new trusses going up. For the most-part, we were satisfied with the weatherproofing which was done each evening after work, keeping water damage from the ongoing (and sometimes very heavy) rain to a minimum. The roof was completed before New Years, an impressive job considering the number of rainy days they had to work around.
January was spent on repairing the interior. While work was going to take place, GC suggested that we might take the opportunity to take advantage of the vanities needing to be removed to do drywalling and painting, and do some minor upgrades. We purchased the materials, and were quite happy with those results. The ceiling replacement and dry walling was completed rapidly, and painting done, along with attention to a number of individual details, in time for us to move back in before the end of January.
GC also worked with us to make the best of difficulties involving the insurance and the bank, including taking care of a needed inspection while we were out of the country. I feel that GC performed an outstanding service, and I would gladly work with them again (although, since this was the second tree to fall on our house... we would prefer it to be an ordinary remodel or construction. No more treefalls!)
The project started quickly and progressed well. Sean and his team were very accommodating as we lived in the house while the remodel was going on. The crew were a pleasure to have around. I didn't realize how many subcontractors would be used electrical/roof/gutters and drywall, and I think this bumped the cost, but all the work proceeded quickly and expertly because of this. Jim also did a lovely job matching the existing structure and even making improvements after consulting with me. I'm very happy with the outcome!
Our project went very well once again. On-time and on-budget.
Adam, our PM, was excellent (once again).
He is easy to work with and his construction knowledge & organization is the best I have seen ever!
Sean Gallagher from Gallagher Construction is starting his own business after working for others for many years. I was introduced to him through my designer, Heather Lund. The resulting workout room is excellent. It exceeded everyone's expectations and is a great balance of fun and functional. I especially enjoyed the brainstorming we went through between the designer, Heather Lund, and Sean and Adam. There were several challenges that came up for which they found some very creative solutions. My husband said he could not see this room looking like anything other than a garage -- especially since we had a furnace, water heater and central vac in the room as well as ugly ducts. He now stands or works out corrected. We closeted the water heater and furnace. Adam found a cool track system to hang a heavy bag, TRX, or hanging chair. The kids love the chair option so they can use the Xbox in the garage to play games with their friends. We resurfaced cabinets that were sitting around for storage. We added a gear wall to handle all the fun exercise tools and add interest to the wall. Adam had a great attention to detail and mirrored the finish carpentry in the house even to the point of how he trimmed out the access hatch to the crawl space. It all looks great.
He also helped us design and install a nook cabinet near that back door that can be that dropping place for keys, purses, mail, paper, and counter space for charging of electronics. It also has uppers and lowers for needed storage from the kitchen. This 48" wide area has significantly improve the flow and organization in the kitchen and is consistent with the quality of the rest of the kitchen.
He also helped me get connected with contractors to get my miscellaneous projects done that had been haunting my list for a while. We had holes patched, walls painted, electrical repaired -- all while we had the main project completed taking advantage of the time the trades were already in the house. His selection of contractors was top notch. I would use any of them for another project. They were all very professional and shared his eye for quality and detail.
I would definitely recommend Gallagher Construction. I look forward to doing additional projects with them in the future.
