DIRECT TO DOOR INC

On Tuesday August 23rd I went to Door-to-Door's website to reserve two storage containers for delivery on Saturday August 27th. This reservation was made on line with a credit card, using a date they listed as ?OPEN?. Checking email the next day I found an email saying call them to confirm, no indication of a problem. I ended up calling just after business hours, but left a message on a system, that promises a call back. I made it clear I had an urgent need for the storage units that my order was solid and left them a number to call. They did no call, and I missed calling back AGAIN, because of family emergency. When I called them again on Friday, I was told that I had been sent an email and a voice mail telling me earlier that week that they were booked until September 8th!! I checked SPAMFOLDERS and Vonage keeps a record of voice mails, there was none left. And it appears they were going to tell me I needed to book a date more than 10 days after the one that listed as open in their website the same day that call was supposedly made. To me this feels like the web dates offered "as open" are just bait to get you on the phone and then they talk you into whatever date it takes to fill their schedule. That if their site were accurate about available dates people like myself would not have LOST an important weekend in packing to put our house on the market before a critical banking deadline passed. We would have booked with another provider. If good customer service that returns calls, honors reservations made with credit card numbers and that can be trusted to deliver the storage container when YOU need it vs. when they actually have space. DO NOT TRUST, DOOR to DOOR. I don't know if it is just a bad web design and inventory system, or sales trick to lure customers in who need earlier dates, BUT!! IF you need a storage container in a timely manner look someplace else.
