Preston Schaffer Construction

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! I paid him but he did NOT pay the window company for the windows and a lien was placed against our home. They eventually dropped the lien (as "frivolous") but we were out several thousand dollars in attorney fees trying to get it removed. He does not know how to handle his finances.

Windows were delivered on Wednesday and work began on Thursday at 8am promptly. Preston and two helpers, Chris and Sam, began by removing the windows in our family room, followed by the guest bathroom, guest bedroom and kitchen. Right away, they covered the inside with plastic to help keep out the cold and to minimize the amount of dust getting into the house. At all times, they were very courteous and respectful of our home and our family. We were lucky to have a run of several dry days, so they could get all the work done without stopping for rain or snow. The cold did hamper getting a second coat of paint on the exterior, which he will come back to do when we get a bit warmer weather. He deducted $200 from the total bill to ensure his return to finish the painting. We're having the work done in two phases for budget reasons -- we have a total of 34 windows -- so we will be hiring them again to do the remaining windows.

UPDATE 1/25/2013: The installation for the remaining windows was done well, but we have since found out that Preston Schaffer did not pay the subcontractor for the windows after we paid him. So, now the subcontractor has placed a lien on our home. Needless to say, i would never hire Preston Schaffer Construction again and would not recommend them. He's a nice guy, but turns out to be terrible at handling his business finances.
