Jim came and measured the opening of the old stove and the specs for the new stove. He then returned, trimmed the cabinet, installed the new stove and cleaned up after himself. This was done in a remarkable amount of time considering the work that had to be done. Jim is an expert cabinetmaker and builder. We had friends visit after the stove was installed and they couldn't believe the accuracy of the fit. We wouldn't call anyone else to have construction of any type done on our house. His attention to detail is amazing in this day and age when slipshod work seems to be the norm. Previously he installed steps off our back deck that not only fit the style of our house but are superbly built as well.

Jim Hestand came recommended by the realtor who sold us the house, and he connected us with both fine flooring outfits as well as completing the trim in all rooms on his own time one Saturday. Jim came over initially to look at what I needed, directed me to top notch material suppliers, was there nearly every day as fellows started work, and checked in many other times to make sure the job went well. Familiar with every aspect of building, he would often pitch in to complete details of a particular day's work. Without my realizing it until they were done, he even fixed the post of a side fence gate where the guys were coming in and out. This is one terrific contractor who does it all: builds houses, completes repairs, manages subcontractors who have worked many years with him. On price, while I have not used other contractors in Vancouver, I was over the top satisfied with the price and quality of every single aspect of the work, the subs, and Jim as a great person to work with. I would heartily encourage anyone to check with Jim Hestand first on any repairs, remodeling, or building project. If I'd found Angie's List earlier, I'd have written this review long ago. I am every day grateful for the beautiful and completely solid job Hestand and his workers did on our house.
