TALL AND SMALL PAINTERS

Roger did a really professional job. Came back to replace a faucet piece the had been lost in the process. In bidding the job, he gave an estimate for time and a rough estimate for the paint requirement. The time costs were fine, perhaps a bit on the high side, but he underestimated the cost of paint. My complaint would be that while he estimated a low dollar amount for paint, he purchased much more than was needed. For the body, only 2.5 gallons was needed, at most, but he purchased 5 gallons. Now I have two extra full gallons of the body color left over than cost over $100, plus significant amounts of the trim colors, also. The receipts for materials, included supplies such as brushes and painter's hats, which wasn't a big deal, but it had not been clear up front that this was a cost that I would have to bear. There were also two items that were included in the receipts that he gave me to pay, that when asked, he acknowledged were not used on my job. I think my lesson learned is to be sure that any painter provides a detailed list of how he is estimating the materials required, so that I, as home owner, can check it for reasonableness in terms of what would in the end I would be held to cover. That said, Roger and his son, who worked as the helper, were very nice and easy to work with and did a good and thorough job.
