Skyler Excavation LLC is a small company with big capabilities. Much of our time is spent on jobs where drainage is a big issue. We are often called in to redo and expand/extend existing drainage systems that are unsatisfactory. Our Goal: Catch the surface and sub-surface water and pipe it away or into an infiltration field. Sounds simple but this goal can be surprisingly hard to achieve, especially during the first attempt. In the beginning a home's drainage system is often treated as unimportant. Later, when the basement or crawlspace is flooded, the importance of a capable system becomes clear. We will study your site and invent a system to fit your needs. We can do this right in the beginning before the landscaping and hard scape are in place... or we can be there for the second time around. Do It Once... Do It Right. Today's Hint When soil is excavated, keep the loose "top soil" separate from the hard pan clay subsoil. This way during the backfill process, the subsoil can be put in place first leaving the top soil on top where it belongs. This way you will avoid both the typical soggy-lawn syndrome and having to pick holes in the clay/hard pan surface to plant your trees and shrubs.
