MODERN COLLISION REBUILD & SERVICE

I own a 2011 Subaru Impreza. While I was driving, the cruise control light was flashing and the check engine/AWD off lights were illuminated, so I took it to Modern Collision. They told me I had a blown head gasket that would cost $5,000 which basically totals my car out. I took it home and had a friend who is a mechanic refer me to Austin Pearl at The Shop Automotive and he told me that I had the tiniest leak in my head gasket that he wouldn't even noticed had he not looked and it was fine and appropriate for the age of the car. He also told me all of those lights were as a result of the Oxygen Sensor which didn't really need replaced if I could get used to driving with those lights on. So, I had Austin replace my timing belt and my car is driving great and I've adjusted to the crazy lights which they do so you'll freak out and take it to the dealership to get ripped off. I don't appreciate people trying to take advantage of me because I'm female and while I live on Bainbridge, I am NOT rich. So, people with more money than sense may blindly accept their recommendations and rates, but I won't. They called 2 weeks later trying to offer me some special. Really disappointed. Get a second opinion before doing any MAJOR repairs with them. I can't imagine in what universe you would diagnosed a blown head gasket when it's hardly even leaking. They're either totally incompetent or dishonest. They still charged me over $200 for this faulty diagnosis.
