Rich was amazing. We looked all around for someone with strong building science knowledge and expertise in spray on foam insulation. Rich really knows his building science and spray foam!

We started with a energy audit through Community Power Works in Seattle. Armed with the report and a suggestion from our auditor to look into Spray foam it insulate and air seal our crawl space we started the search which lead us to Rich.

Rich had no issue driving out from Bainbridge to Seattle to give us an estimate. He is full of knowledge and prepared a detailed estimate. He was super responsive to questions in email including sending me building science articles and tips on some DIY air sealing work I did.

He worked hard when he was on site. Workmanship was very good. Kept the site clean.

A nice surprise toward the end was that Rich was a PSE approved contractor which made us eligible for insulation rebates through PSE.

We can feel the comfort difference in the winter and the ventilation removes the need for a dehumidifier in the Summer.

I highly recommend Rich and Heat Holders.

Rich Perlot of Heat Holders on Bainbridge Island is more knowledgeable on how a house works than anyone else you are likely to meet!! He was extremely thorough and explained everything in great detail. For instance, we learned how important the right amount of insulation and ventilation are to a home to insure mold does not become a problem. If you hire Rich, you can make sure that everything he does will be done correctly!
He is also a hard worker. When he gets to your home, he gets right to work and doesn't stop until he's finished. We were really impressed with both his knowledge and his work ethic. We highly recommend him to homeowners who want to make their homes more energy efficient.

Richard was pleasant, professional and detailed. He did have a couple of helpers from time to time to assist in the under house insulation. As this process takes several days to complete he was always on time or communicated any temporary delays. There was some inconvenience with this work as there is a lot of equipment moved in and out on different days depending on the work flow but Richard took great care on the house and flooring at all times. In addition he completely cleanup after each days work. While we put a lot of money into this project it was necessary to bring a 1974 home up to current standards and the RePower rebate programs softened the final number. After the work was completed we almost immediately realized warmer air output and less cycling of the system as the heat produced came in and stayed in. We expect to significantly reduce the 'all electric' bills this winter.
This level of work is not to be taken lightly but Richard will help you through the process and choices to be made. Do your research and ask questions. For us this took three months from begining to end not all of which was Heat Holder's work but it is a big job.
