Explained that it was a different 3 prong plug with a horizontal prong (125 type).  They showed up without the right equipment, tried three different steps to get the sauna working.  In the end they did a dedicated circuit - but since we did not have the correct adapter or receptacle, I could never validate that the sauna would work.  After 2.5 hrs.  the workman told ME that I had to go to home depot to get either the correct receptacle or adapter.  I got a $2.63 part that allowed me to use the sauna in any outlet.... IF they had brought the correct parts with them, they would have been in an out in less than 30 minutes! |I DID NOT NEED ANY of the work they performed.  The bill was for $406 - which included a $60 fee for an "inspection" that they stated it was a LAW - there is a MANDATORY State Inspection FOR ALL Electrical work!!??? |This seems absurd! You pay an certified electrician $135 hr - to change out an outlet - and they need to have a State Inspection?
Response from Bainbridge Island Electric
"[member name removed], Thank you for your honest perspective on our service. There are a few points that we would like to explain a little more fully in regards to your experience with us. 1) "125 type" is not a valid receptacle type. At the time, not enough information was given to us as to the exact work to be performed. Our understanding was that you required your sauna to function and that it necessitated the installation of a receptacle for it. Upon arriving and assessing the situation, our electrician found that this was not the simple case of installing a receptacle. Please see the second point below. 2) The sauna in your home requires a dedicated circuit, as the existing wall circuit to which you expected to place it on already had other loads on it. As you may know, regular overloading of a circuit can be dangerous, as well as inconvenient. 3) When extending a circuit (such as extending an existing dedicated heat circuit, as we did to allow your sauna to function), an electrical inspection is necessary, by law. Most electrical work requires either what call a 'full' permit, or a 'Class B' permit. Please see WAC rule 296-46B-901 for further clarification. I hope this clarifies why we performed the work as we did. Regards, Lori"

I emailed for an estimate. Answer $150. I said ok. The repair man came out & replaced a breaker & a gfi. The back of my house still had no power after the repairs. He continued to test outlets and lights throughout the house & attic. He could not find the junction box that has the broken wire. He talked about putting holes in the walls to find the J Box. I didn't like that idea. He had pulled the light fixture down from over a bed and left it hanging by its wires. I asked him to replace it. He asked if it could be left until the next time he came back. I said no! He replaced the light fixture. I offered to pay before he departed, but he said I would receive an invoice. When I did receive it, It was $257. instead of $150. I have talked to the office and have naot had any results in lowing the bill. Especially since as of today my power is still out in the back half of my house.

"[member name removed], Thank for you your review. As you may recall from our recent phone conversation, your post-work- completion phone call to the office was not in regards to lowering your bill, but to setting up a payment plan for your invoice, a service in which I personally assisted you. As for your current lack of power, you and I discussed the necessary repair of your roof/ceiling in order for an electrical professional to search for a hidden junction-box which may be causing the outage, as no other boxes which were located by our electrician appeared to be the causing the issue. As of last week, you informed me that this repair had not taken place. We do believe that the wiring in your home presents a challenge to any electrical professional, as the construction is very old and appears to be a patchwork of many different add-ons; even so, we were willing to assist you in reaching your goals. Per our phone conversation, I would like to reiterate that the level of satisfaction which you received from our services are not the norm, though I would like to remind you that we responded to your service request the same day you made the initial phone call to our office. Perhaps if there had been more communication regarding the work situation, our customer service goals and your expectations would have been met. We sincerely regret that this was not the case. Regards, Lori"

I last used the services of Bainbridge Island Electric maybe about four months ago. They did electrical work on the panel and are a great provider. They are largely the only providers here on the island. They are great. They have done a good service.  They are attentive.

The work was decent, but the people who did it took a really long time. I think that I could've had it done faster than that and I have no idea what I am doing. They were also very expensive as I thought it was double of what it should have been.

One of the reasons why I like them is because they are very reliable and well mannered folks. The job ended up being better than I expected it to be. I would like to recommend him to others.

WE'D BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH SOME LAMPS AND IT TOOK SOME DOING TO FIGURE OUT IT WAS A COMBINATION PROBLEM WITH THE WALL SWITCH AND THE LAMP. THEY WERE ABLE TO REPLACE BOTH AND TAKE CARE OF IT ALL QUICKLY AND PROFESSIONALLY.
