"This review is disappointing and misleading. While your home and existing conditions did present challenges to timeline and budget....we were able to work through them in an agreeable way. It was our understanding at the end of the project you were satisfied. Our understanding was confirmed when you hired us four months later for a much smaller project at a different home you own. It was during this small project we failed to meet your expectations. This failure came in the form of not covering a refrigerator, which became dusty for a second time. We offered to come clean the refrigerator, but you declined via a nasty email containing a threat of a poor online review."
They made a schedule and generally kept to it and changed the schedule as was needed.
This remodel was the biggest investment that we had ever made with a remodel and I am very happy with the work that WATERS & WOOD INC did on our house. There were some issues that came up and they were very effective at getting things resolved. The remodel went very well, the end result is outstanding: WATERS & WOOD INC is a great company to work with. They are not inexpensive and they do not do cheap work: I have pretty high standards and the quality of the work that was done was above my expectations. Also, all of the employees did their work as if they were doing work on their own house, every little thing I asked to have changed they took care of and now that it's been a couple months I can see that they did a lot of extra little things that make a huge difference (i.e. adjust hinges to keep cabinets to stop before they would swing too far, the completeness of the work under upper cabinets...) gave me a lot of confidence that they did an outstanding job.
I don't know how anyone could go wrong hiring WATERS & WOOD INC, I've had a lot of bad/mixed experiences working with contractors - working with WATERS & WOOD INC was an unbelievably good experience.
I also had them do some work at another house that I was selling and I was equally happy with how that work turned out as well.
Don suggested a cast iron shower pan, since I don't like standing on tile and I am pleased with the end result. The tile was carried from the pan to the ceiling. with a corner bench and a niche for soap and shampoo. A semi-frameless shower door finished that area. The low vanity was replaced with a nice dark cherry vanity at adult height with two cabinets and 4 drawers. New sinks were installed in the lovely quartz top. The wall to wall mirror above the vanity was replaced with a slightly smaller version in a frame. The bar lights were replaced with two - two-light vanity lights above each sink. A cupboard was placed above the toilet in a matching wood. The sheet vinyl floor was replaced with vinyl tiles that look like slate. The walls and ceiling were primed and painted after all wall board imperfections were corrected and re-textured. This was mainly required in the area where the medicine cabinet had been removed.
It took me a while to decide on the surfaces and design of the space. I went through three or four different cost levels before setting on the details I felt were most important. From the planning stage it took me about three months, then Don was able to get the project started the end of August, about 4 weeks after we signed a contract. He finished in the 5 week time frame. The project could not have been done sooner, because there was a two week window between when the tiling was completed in the shower so that measurements could be taken for the shower door, and when the shower door was ready to be installed. During that time we could use the rest of the bathroom space. For the shower door I selected a 'rain' pattern with the inside of the glass coated to prevent soap build-up.
The powder room was made available to the workers. There were no issues.
The Waters and Wood team did a good job of protecting our floors between the front door and the bathroom. The bathroom was left tidy. I still had some spots I had to clean, but nothing too difficult.
We paid 50% at the beginning of the project, the majority of the rest of the bill when everything except the shower door had been installed, and then the final payment after reviewing a punch list with Don.
There were a few issues where we were told a workman (or Don) would be on site at a certain time and this didn't always happen. Some subcontractors were more reliable than others. This is why I down rated punctuality, but the entire job was completed as expected.
I plan to use Waters & Wood for an update to the kitchen in the next 6 months.
The not so good: Apparently, many of the "first team, first choice" subs were engaged on other projects, so we ended up with electricians and painters who our GC did not often use, and rework was required from each. Also had some quality issues with bath tile installation, also done by a sub.
Overall - We would still recommend W&W because they are honest, responsive, and concerned about delivering a quality product to ensure we were, in the end happy. In fact, we are considering them for another project, but I'd only want the first team subs!
