Quality of the work is most important.

While the majority of the work went well and am mostly pleased with the final results, the outcome would have been much worse if I had been absent. The contractor Don was not consistently involved in overseeing the work. My wife & I needed to check the details of the work being done, providing punchlists to Don of things that needed to be completed or redone. It was troubling that we were the ones doing this and not Don. Most things were done in a timely manner, but others only after payment was withheld completed. * We discovered some electrical wiring work that had not been completed after Waters & Wood said our project was finished and requested final payment. Areas did not have power reconnected, lights didn't work, and wires temporarily connected and hanging. * The shower glass was supposed to be etched to provide a privacy wall between the shower & toilet ...the glass installed was clear. * How the plumbing water lines were being run created problems for the next phase of our home remodel, so I asked Don to have the plumbers make changes accordingly. I showed Don what I wanted and he told me he would have the changes made. The changes were not made and the plumbers went ahead and finished the project. When I asked Don about the plumbing corrections he put me off for a few weeks, then sent a work order for me to sign authorizing the additional charges since the work was complete. ...but had not when he agreed to have the corrections made. Feeling exasperated, tired of dealing with someone who said one thing and did another, I went to another company to redo the work done by Waters & Wood. Yes, some things were done well; Fransico, the lead carpenter, and JC Tile & Stone do great work, but cannot recommend working with Waters & Wood construction.
Response from WATERS & WOOD INC
"This review is disappointing and misleading. While your home and existing conditions did present challenges to timeline and budget....we were able to work through them in an agreeable way. It was our understanding at the end of the project you were satisfied. Our understanding was confirmed when you hired us four months later for a much smaller project at a different home you own. It was during this small project we failed to meet your expectations. This failure came in the form of not covering a refrigerator, which became dusty for a second time. We offered to come clean the refrigerator, but you declined via a nasty email containing a threat of a poor online review."

I have done a lot of remodeling work in previous houses myself and hired/fired contractors; and I can be kind of tough on quality and execution issues. WATERS & WOOD INC was great to work with. From the beginning, they helped with every decision along the way and referred us to great places to get appliances and other things outside of what they were handling. They set us up with outstanding cabinets as well as finding all of the right materials.

They made a schedule and generally kept to it and changed the schedule as was needed.
This remodel was the biggest investment that we had ever made with a remodel and I am very happy with the work that WATERS & WOOD INC did on our house. There were some issues that came up and they were very effective at getting things resolved. The remodel went very well, the end result is outstanding: WATERS & WOOD INC is a great company to work with. They are not inexpensive and they do not do cheap work: I have pretty high standards and the quality of the work that was done was above my expectations. Also, all of the employees did their work as if they were doing work on their own house, every little thing I asked to have changed they took care of and now that it's been a couple months I can see that they did a lot of extra little things that make a huge difference (i.e. adjust hinges to keep cabinets to stop before they would swing too far, the completeness of the work under upper cabinets...) gave me a lot of confidence that they did an outstanding job.
I don't know how anyone could go wrong hiring WATERS & WOOD INC, I've had a lot of bad/mixed experiences working with contractors - working with WATERS & WOOD INC was an unbelievably good experience.
I also had them do some work at another house that I was selling and I was equally happy with how that work turned out as well.

Don and his team of sub contractors did a very good job with this project.  No walls were removed and the bathtub along with some existing wainscoting tiles stayed in place and there was no damage..  The old shower surround was removed and the copper piping was corrected and then extended to allow for a higher shower head installation.  The area was sheet-rocked and water proofed, then tiled.

Don suggested a cast iron shower pan, since I don't like standing  on tile and I am pleased with the end result. The tile was carried from the pan to the ceiling.  with a corner bench and a niche for soap and shampoo. A semi-frameless shower door finished that area. The low vanity was replaced with a nice dark cherry vanity at adult height with two cabinets and 4 drawers.  New sinks were installed in the lovely quartz top.  The wall to wall mirror above the vanity was replaced with a slightly smaller version in a frame.  The bar lights were replaced with two - two-light vanity lights above each sink. A cupboard was placed above the toilet in a matching wood. The sheet vinyl floor was replaced with vinyl tiles that look like slate.  The walls and ceiling were primed and painted after all wall board imperfections were corrected and re-textured.  This was mainly required in the area where the medicine cabinet had been removed.
It took me a while to decide on the surfaces and design of the space.  I went through three or four different cost levels before setting on the details I felt were most important.   From the planning stage it took me about three months, then Don was able to get the project started the end of August, about 4 weeks after we signed a contract.   He finished in the 5 week time frame.  The project could not have been done sooner, because there was a two week window between when the tiling was completed in the shower so that  measurements could be taken for the shower door, and when the shower door was ready to be installed. During that time we could use the rest of the bathroom space.  For the shower door I selected a 'rain' pattern with the inside of the glass coated to prevent soap build-up.
The powder room was made available to the workers. There were no issues.
The Waters and Wood team did a good job of protecting our floors between the front door and the bathroom.  The bathroom was left tidy.  I still had some spots I had to clean, but nothing too difficult.
We paid 50% at the beginning of the project, the majority of the rest of the bill when everything except the shower door had been installed, and then the final payment after reviewing a punch list with Don.
There were a few issues where we were told a workman (or Don) would be on site at a certain time and this didn't always happen.  Some subcontractors were more reliable than others.  This is why I down rated punctuality, but the entire job was completed as expected.
I plan to use Waters & Wood for an update to the kitchen in the next 6 months.

The Good: Contractor was responsive and followed through on every request and on every issue. The staff working directly for the contractor did a great job.  Several subs were quite good, in particular, the plumbers and dry wall guy. The kitchen cabinets were installed by a sub who did top notch work, though it seemed hard to get him out (he only wanted to come out when all the cabinetry was on site).
The not so good: Apparently, many of the "first team, first choice" subs were engaged on other projects, so we ended up with electricians and painters who our GC did not often use, and rework was required from each. Also had some quality issues with bath tile installation, also done by a sub.
Overall - We would still recommend W&W because they are honest, responsive, and concerned about delivering a quality product to ensure we were, in the end happy. In fact, we are considering them for another project, but I'd only want the first team subs!

Supremely well! The craftsmanship is not only professional and excellent, but artistic with fabulous attention to detail.  There were some issues with the sub contractor who did the metal railing but it was dealt with "on the spot" and the design direction provided by W & W, and their oversight resulted in excellent adjustments.  I've had a lot of work done over the years and W & W have been the best!  Very highly recommended!

The end result is fantastic - we are always receiving compliments on our kitchen and the improved use of space in our house post-remodeling. The planning took a couple of months, and work took a couple more months - all of the guys we worked with are professional and all-around nice, respectful people. The crew finished everything to our satisfaction and if one detail wasn't quite right, they made the extra effort to fix it so we were happy. And they finished the project in the agreed upon time frame. I highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking for help with a mid-high end remodeling project.

The work was done in a professional manner.  All the workmen were respectful and helpful to family and friends as we lived in the house during construction.  After some start-up problems the work was finished on time and budget.  The quality of the finished product is better than we expected.
