Tedricks team did a great job. The new roof looks fantastic with all the little touches like painting the vents to match and dealing with nooks and crannies created by an addition. I would highly recommend them for roofing as they were competitively priced and did a great job. Clean up of the area was amazing also.

They were amazing. Started and finished when promised. Everything was done carefully, and thoroughly. Owner came out and did a final check and completely cleaned my yard. No leftover nails or roofing materials. It looks awesome!

When we shopped around for people to redo our roof, Tedrick's not only provided the best price, but they were the most thorough out of the 5 companies who gave us estimates. They were easy to work with and Jim (the owner) spent about an hour inspecting the work to make sure it met his standards.

As a Senior Buyer of 30+ years for a local aerospace company dealing with companies and suppliers on a daily basis I can say that my experience with Tedrick's Roofing is one of the best I have ever had, in fact, it was plain outstanding!  No one really likes to spend the big dollars on something like a roof, but, the experience with Tedrick's made it a great, painless and enjoyable time.

Everything was perfect.

From day one when brother John Tedrick came to provide a quote, who was very laid back, friendly, kind and explained everything.  You will not get a hard, fast, used car salesmen sales pitch like other companies in the South Sound I received quotes from.  Tedrick's was extremely competitive, in fact, beat all others by 1000's of dollars.

Then there was the tear off crew boss Rick, who likewise was very friendly, attentive to all the questions I had and to clean up everyday.

To finally, brother Jim Tedrick who personally came out on the final buy off day (as he does on every job) to make sure everything was done correctly, the yard cleaned up, etc...  He even noticed a small leak on one of the gutter corners and came out the next day and fixed it.

Jim Tedrick gushes with customer service, outstanding service.  In fact, one of the days of the job there was to be very heavy winds and rain at night and he came out in the dark when it was raining, went on the roof and made sure everything was button down, properly covered, etc.

For me personally based on experience, I stay away from the baby or inexperience companies, those in business less than 10 years which there are a ton of in the South Puget Sound region, I stick with those like Tedrick's that have been in business for decades, for such longevity shows they must be doing something right with pricing, quality and customer service in such a high turnover industry.

In fact, Tedrick now with finishing my roof has now done 50% of the homes on my street, just another fact that Tedrick is doing it right.

Finally, I would highly recommend utilizing Tedrick as they are one of the best companies I have dealt with in 30 years in procurement. Tedrick truly aims to please the customer and has on my own job, it is not simply lip service said in a slick sales pitch you might get from others, they truly mean it and show it. And it is customer service that Tedrick promises in the future at least with me if I might have problems, etc.  And remember, even if Tedrick was to provide you a slightly higher bid than someone else, you have to decide for yourself if saving a few dollars is worth it compared to being taken care of as if you were one of their own kids or relative, for that is how I felt.

Outstanding experience, service and quality - Thank you very much John, Jim, Rick and all at Tedrick's Roofing!!!!

We had a good experience with Tedrick's Roofing Inc. I told him I thought his price was too high and he actually lowered it. So their prices ended up being reasonable. However, he was late because he got tied up and he didn't bother to call me to tell me he'd be late.

I was still out of town when the repairman came and the wrong spot on roof was patched (6 feet away from actual leak area) because Tedrick had taken no measurements and had not gone into the attic to find the actual spot that was leaking (later he said it wasn't his job to do that).  I returned home several days later and the roof was still leaking.  Tedrick sent out the repairman, who went into attic, found the leak and repaired the roof with a few shingles in 20 minutes.  The original contract was for $1295 which I thought at the time was outrageous but since I was leaving town and didn't know the extent of the needed repair, felt I had no choice but to get the roof fixed.

I feel as though Jim Tedrick took advantage of my situation and knew it would turn out to be a small repair job.  I told him I was very unhappy with the way he had handled the job and felt the original price was way out of line.  We settled on a price of $1000 which I reluctantly paid.

I would never hire this company again - for any reason.

"Nice to hear from you again [Member Name Removed]. Again you were in no way obligated to sign a contract with our company' we are sorry you feel the way you do. But we are happy that after your repair your roof has not leaked again during a record rain fall season! Also remember your repair did come with a warranty so I do hope you would use us one last time if you have the slightest problem with the repaired area!"

Tedrick's Roofing did a roofing project.  They did a great job, efficiently, repaired damaged areas, and replaced the gutters at the same time.  They did an excellent job of cleanup and made sure the work was done before the weather turned rainy.  I was very pleased in working with all the people workiing on the project.  Be sure to clarify the invoicing process.  Once explained it was clear and accurate.

The installation of these high-quality (and expensive) items left much to be desired.

To begin, an estimator came out right away and provided a middle-of-the road quote. I added some options and felt comfortable choosing Tedrick?s because the estimator told me the owner(s) would be on-site during the job.

The first indication of a problem was the tear-off: The person or persons took everything off, including flashing that was to remain in
place where the roof abuts the siding!

I opted for a ridge vent, thus the 10 existing square vent openings needed to be closed. I assumed this would be done in a structurally-sound manner. No, someone just stapled strips of wood under the holes and stapled a piece of wood over the strips inside each hole. I doubt these ?patches? will support more than a few pounds of weight, e.g., if someone steps on one of the patches, which are
now invisible from above after the shingles were installed. Tedrick?s should have simply removed 18? of the roof sheathing (where the vent holes were) and installed new OSB in its place. Probably would have cost the same as their patches when the cost of labor is considered.

During installation of the shingles, I went into the attic to check for signs of damage (that?s when I spotted the shoddy vent patches) and noticed that the flue for my gas furnace was now loose and slanted, and that I could see daylight where the flange had been.  I
immediately informed the workers that the flue needed to be straightened to ensure flue gasses would not leak into my attic, that water would not enter the gap where daylight was now showing, and to ensure the flue would be straight at the conclusion of the job. Four (4) of the workers heard me explain the problem and all of them acknowledged they would fix the problem. A couple of weeks
after the job was completed (and paid for), I again entered the attic only to discover that the flue was still crooked, but now the flange had been nailed in place and shingled over. I could still see daylight coming from the bottom of the flange (so far, it doesn?t appear any water has entered?yet).

Another interesting (and legally terrifying) aspect of the installation was the installer?s lack of proper equipment. Much to my surprise, the crew removed my ladder from the side of my house (where it was stored) without my permission and used my ladder as their sole means of accessing the roof during the entire job rather than bringing and using a ladder of their own! This was completely
unacceptable, especially considering the liability I faced if the ladder failed and one or more of the crew had been injured. Tedrick?s should be ashamed to allow this type of behavior to occur. If the owners had been on site this might not have happened.

Speaking of behavior, the swearing that emanated from some of the crew was also unacceptable, especially in my neighborhood with many small children. I have to give the crew points, however, for the number of times they were able to weave the ?F-word? into a
single sentence.

Note: at no time did I ever see one of the owners/managers of Tedrick?s roofing on site. The only appearance of an owner that I am aware of is when the job was completed and someone (I assumed to be an owner) viewed the completed work from the street and yard.  I was home during this ?inspection? (presumably conducted in order to complete the required warranty document) and at no time did this person set foot on the roof to view the work that had been done!

Then the rains came. My gutters immediately overflowed and made a mess of my planting beds, deck, etc. So, up on a ladder I went (2 stories up) in a downpour and about 40 degrees outside. What did I find in the gutters which I was assured by the estimator would be ?thoroughly cleaned? by Tedrick?s crew after the roof was completed)? Several scraps of underlayment choking the downspouts, several nails, and many staples left over from the tear-off! By the time I cleaned the gutters, I was soaking wet, cold, and very angry.

When the weather cleared and I began mowing the yard, I started finding nails in the lawn?about 30 in all. Apparently the roofing crew did not bother to use a magnet to ?sweep? the yard of these harmful items. It is a wonder that my grandchild or dog did not end up with a nail in the foot! Worse yet would have been the loss of an eye or punctured organ/artery if my mower had picked up and
thrown one of the nails. I spent the better part of an entire afternoon on my hands and knees searching for these nails?I hope I found all of them.

But wait, there?s more.  Last summer I was in the attic and the sun was shining on the siding of the house. I noticed a shaft of light coming from the area in which I had observed the roofing crew using pry bars to pull the siding away from the house in order to reinstall the needlessly removed flashing (removed due to ignorance and lack of training/supervision, I assume).  In doing so, they left a large (3-foot by 3/8?) gap where two pieces of siding meet?and rain was now able to enter the attic.  Once again, I had to drag out my ladder, go up two-and-a-half stories, and inspect the siding. I had to purchase high-quality caulk and seal the gap myself?with one hand, while hanging onto the ladder with the other, 20 feet in the air.

I did not pay nearly $10,000 to climb a ladder in the rain to clean clogged gutters, crawl on the ground to find nails, seal gaps that did not previously exist, have a crooked furnace flue with daylight showing around the flange, shoddy roof patches, and risk personal liability because the contractor used my ladder. I hope this information will assist others who are searching for a quality roofing contractor.
Response from Tedrick's Roofing Inc
"First we wish to apologize for all the issues you had! I certainley wish you had brought these up at the time the roof was being installed or at anytime you had found an issue! I assure you this is not the type of review we like to read when it could possibly been avoided if we had known about it. If you had called even at 4 in the morning in the torrential rain storm when your gutters over flowed, I guarante you someone other than yourself would have been up clearing out a gutter. We have a 24/7 paging service that would have alerted us to the issue had you called. As far as your ladder I can't do anything about it at this point, but when you hire a licensed contractor with a current L&I account which covers all its employees you are not in any danger of a liability issue! If you are worried about any other workmanship issues or feel you would like an inspection PLEASE call we would be more than happy to look things over! A poor clean-up and nails in your yard is completely unexceptable and perfect clean-up is something that our company prides its self on. Again I wish you had called as heads would have rolled! Even though two years have gone by and I am just finding out about this there will be some unhappy emplyoyees in the morning, they will either learn or be fired! If you really think there are issues please call, we do have a guarantee on the roof and do not want any issues and do not like an unhappy customer. 206-824-3440"

They were able to fix the leak. I liked the accuracy of their diagnosis and repair. One person came out and he was wonderful. The roof has been good so far. I would recommend them to the other members.
